2. Group in Old Layer -> Ungroup in New Layer = Error

   I like to layer different styles of content. I'll have a background layer for images, etc., that I want to not touch later so I can lock/unlock while I work with my content over the top of it. Sometimes, I accidentally am in the background layer and create content that needs to be moved to another layer. I would love for a feature like Illustrator that allows me to highlight an object or group of objects, click an opposing layer, and then right-click > arrange > move to selected layer.

   Also, there is a slight bug I've found, but it doesn't crash and I can work around it: When I have grouped objects, and I copy and paste them into a new layer, they appear to be in the new layer; however, if I ungroup them, they automatically de-group back into their original layer before I copied and pasted them. Does that make sense? That feature I mentioned above would fix this, but either way, this bug is kind of annoying because then I have to go back and copy and paste the ungrouped objects back into the new layer I wanted them in. Might be unclear, but I just ran into this issue today.

   There is an option in the Layers panel flyout menu called “Ungroup Remembers Layers”. This is ON by default. That’s why when you ungroup, the objects go back to the layers to which they belonged prior to the grouping. You can uncheck this option if you want to have the objects get ungrouped on the same layer as the group.

3. Cursor vanishes when over frames

   My cursor is vanishing in InDesign when I move it over a frame (or object inside a frame). It is almost like it is underneath or behind the frame/object.

4. Slow lag time typing and generating raster image

   I have not had this problem before but there is about a 2 second lag on everything from typing to panning around. I have aerial images via PDFs linked into the file (5 of them) and I'm placing leaders and text on top. The document is only 5 pages and it's very frustrating-please help!

5. InDesign application does not render correctly upon program launch in Windows 10

   When launching InDesign in Windows 10, the window renders with missing icons, input boxes (eg: coordinates and size boxes) and backgrounds. When a new document is opened and it launches, random graphics from the document also are displayed.

   Please see attached image for example. I am able to reproduce. Each time, the window must be moved or hovered over by mouse to fix.

   This has been going on since upgrading from CS6 to CC from CC 2017 to CC 2018 (current) in Windows 10. Please let me know if you require details of my hardware or software specifications.

6. paragraph styles panel

   InDesign CC
   Expected: Paragraph Styles Panel opens to a list of my styles
   Actual: Panel opens and the list cannot be seen until the panel is widened to 3x its normal size.

   The panel appears to be split into two columns with the styles in the left column. When the panel is narrowered (ie normal size), the styles column collapses and the styles list cannot be seen. The only way to access the styles list is to enlarge the width of the panel to about 3x its normal size. Please see the attached image showing the action of the styles column as the panel is stretched from a normal size to a larger width.

   I've been an InDesign user for 10+ years and I've never experienced the styles panel having more than one column. I suspect this may be a bug in the latest upgrade.

7. Fast save is taking 37 seconds

   I imported a Word file that has a lot of linked footnotes into InDesign 2018. Spread by spread, I touch each paragraph to fix overrides. There is no reflow of text when I do this step. Yet when I do a plain "save" before going to the next spread, InDesign is taking 37 seconds to save. 37 seconds of watching the rainbow spin. InDesign is acting like it is reflowing every page in the background as it quick saves. That should not be necessary. The last time I experienced this type of slowness was back in the PageMaker days. The book is over 300 pages. 37 seconds a spread really adds up.

8. Window freezes

   the indesign document window tends to freeze, I can fix it by creating a new window for the document and closing the old one. But it's pretty annoying, as you can imagine.

   My Selection Tool, does not display properly and makes this wield yellow/green did like image. This means, I can not select objects properly and this is affecting the speed I'm working at.

10. high cpu usage indesign

    I am periodically experiencing high CPU usage with InDesign 13.0 x64 on Windows 10. The CPU remains high even while not actively using InDesign and doesn't stop until I quit and relaunch the application. This issue only started happening within the past few weeks, probably after the most recent update.

    I'm attaching a screenshot from the Task Manager showing 50% CPU consumption. Please note that my laptop is quad-core. That means InDesign is fully consuming 2 CPUs (4 threads) continuously.

11. Can't scroll through pages in presentation mode

    2017.1 Release, 12.1.0.56 Build
    macOS Sierra version 10.12.6

    When I go to the presentation mode, I am not able to scroll through the pages. Whether i use the trackpad, arrow keys, or change the keyboard shortcuts.

    Hello All,
    There has to be a scenario in which the scrolling of the document is not working in presentation mode because, otherwise it is not reproducible at our end.
    I can observe that, pages do not scroll while making a vertical gesture on the mouse, but through other methods such as, click, arrow key pages can be scrolled easily.

    Are you able to scroll using clicks and arrow keys?
    Is it the case that, the issue is intermittent or only happens in a specific scenario?
    Also, let us know your machine details such its configuration, OS version and Id version

    This can help us to get to the bottom of the issue

12. page not displayed

    I am editing a long document (over 300 pages). Several non-consecutive spreads are displaying blank. When I change screen mode from normal to preview, it displays the content correctly. The same happens if I change Display Performance prom Typical to either Fast display or High Quality Display.
    Also selecting all the text (ctrl+A) takes more than 5 seconds. The same operation in MS Word is instant.

14. Recent file panel

    When Indesign first opens, the time stamp on the recent file is not correct. Some of the files are marked "in an hour" as when they were opened. Others are just marked as 4 hours ago.

    The normal keyboard shortcut for hide does not work either on this screen.

15. gpu performance not working

    This literally just started happening today. I have not installed ANY new anything.
    I'm running a new Macbook Pro (sept 2017), with 16g RAM, 2 TB SDD (with plenty of room on it) Graphics processor is Radeon Pro 560 4 GB
    Intel HD Graphics 630 1536 MB, running High Sierra 10.13.1.
    Running latest version of InDesign CC 2018 build 13.0.1
    As of about an hour ago, I can no longer use the animated zoom or GPU performance. Everything on the screen disappears and you can see the rulers moving as I try to zoom in/out or try to scroll pages. I've posted a short 1m video here that shows the problem.

    I am really befuddled here, rebooted, shut down other apps, etc. but again, the behavior only started an hour or so ago.

    Please keep me posted on a fix.

16. Mouse Latency Issues

    Indesign 13.0; macOS High Sierra 10.13; Macbook Pro 15" 2015

    When using the trackpad the cursor lags even when the display mode is changed to fast. This lag is quite visible even in small size documents.

17. BUG - Paste in Place not pasting correctly with double page spread

    Latest version (2018) does not correctly locate objects when using the 'paste in place' function.

    Open a double page spread document. Select item from left page spread and paste in place on another spread in same document - locates incorrectly.

    expected result: user interface would return to Preferences provided in the application (white or gray respectively)

    actual result: shortcut key to change the background of presentation mode does not work.

    App is OK after restart. Once working on the document for 10 min the navigation around the document and any command request, ie duplicate a image slows down and becomes sluggish until app is restarted once more.
    Im working on a iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), 4 GHz Intel Core i7, 24 GB 1867 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4 GB.

20. [InCopy] is very slow with some projects, even on a very fast Computer

    We often see a pretty significant drop in performance in InCopy for no apparent reason. This seems to occur on random Projects. As far as i could test there was no correlation with the number of InCopy Files or the complexity of the layout.
