Screen Draws Bizarre Patterns
This has been happening for the past several versions. Im using ID 2023 on a 27" 2019 31. Mhz iMac with 64GB. It runs a Raedon Pro 575X 4GB.
While I am moving the document, sometimes these bizarre dark patterns form. Sometimes it happens when just an item is moved on the document. But it appears to be random. Scrolling off the page and back onto it seems to solve it.
This only happens in InDesign. None of the other Adobe apps or other graphic apps have this issue. So it leads me to believe it is not the video…

Since the 18.2.1 update, new links show up grayed out and inaccessible for placing or updating or anything when they are usable files.

some of the objects seems to be missing although they are appearing on the page
some of the objects seems to be missing although they are appearing on the page. you can see them only if you press - select all, but can't select separately.
But when I create a pdf file all the "missing" objects appears on the page. It's a big and complex file of about 70 pages.

Placed SVG bounding box not correctly sized to viewbox/clipping path
When placing an SVG file in an InDesign document, the object's bounding box does not match the actual extent of the SVG file correctly. There are two issues I have noticed:
When elements extend beyond the SVG's viewbox, InDesign incorrectly sets the bounding box of the asset at the full extent of those elements. This occurs even if those elements are contained within a clipping path (as defined within the SVG – not referring to ID's built-in clipping path feature).
Placed SVGs seem to self-crop about 1px from the edges of the viewbox. Consequently the bounding box has a 1px…

problem of distorted previews even though their link is correct
I am on indesign 18.1. Mac OS ventura 13.1.
I have a problem displaying the images once I re-open my document. They appear stretched and refuse to export the pdf. The image links are correct and I have not moved the images from their original location. I have to manually update the links each time for the pdf to work. Can you help me?2 votes -

Linked files cannot be found
Until the end of 2022, it was possible to share / exchange files and documents with linked files via Creative Cloud to edit them on another PC. We could copy, save, and modify the files and folders in any way. As long as the file linked to the document was in the same folder, it was no problem. After updating the data source, all the links were there. Since the beginning of 2023 with the 2023 version, this is no longer possible. InDesign always refers to missing images and the data path is always the originating PC where the file…

Objects drawn with Pen tool (including paths for text) disappear when placed over Photoshop file—text wrap is NOT the issue.
As a children's book designer, I often type on paths, and almost always place text over images. Everything was fine until InDesign's February 2023 update. Now, anything I draw with a pen tool on my text layer—shapes, or paths for type—are invisible, unless I turn off the image layer below it. Note that text wrap for the image is turned off. Text wrap is not the issue!
Attached are side-by-side screenshots showing my attempts to type on a path. The text disappears when the image layer is turned on. As an experiment, I also drew a random shape with the…

dropped math characters in imported eps files
InDesign CC 18.1 x64 sometimes drops characters in math imported as EPS files on export to PDF. This is similar to an earlier problem that appeared after an update when none of the EPS files would print. This problem seems to correct itself when the file is re-exported, but not always. Editing the imported EPS with MathType also seems to correct it. The file missing characters and the correct file are uploaded for comparison.

Shift+Enter (Num-Pad) no longer opens a file with options
Up to InDesign 2022 one had the possibility to open/place a file with additional options by hitting Shift+Enter (NumPad), instead of checking the box "open with options". Shift+Click on Open still works.

Graphics glitches galore on M1 MacBook Air + external 4K monitor
InDesign 17 on an M1 MacBook Air with Big Sur is barely usable with an external 4K monitor. There are graphic artifacts everywhere, especially near the margins/edge of boxes which makes it hard to know if anything is aligned properly. Everything looks okay on the laptop's built-in display but is distorted on the external.
Also, when scrolling, the screen updates sporadically and usually does the Windows 95-looking stuck window effect.
If I turn off the GPU it looks better when working statically but when scrolling it is even worse.

Font distortion in SVG files imported from Illustrator
InDesign version 18.1 has a bug when importing svg images made in Illustrator; the fonts used in the svg files are distorted.
When I had exported the svg files in Illustrator, I chose "save as" and SVG Options: Subsetting > "All Glyphs" to make sure the fonts remained accurate when placed in InDesign, and this has always worked until version 18.1. When I went back to version 18 and opened the file, the fonts were back to normal.1 vote -

Persistent graphics issues
There are STILL graphics problems in Indesign 17.2. Things disappearing off the screen that don't reappear unless you try and move them (zooming in and out doesn't work), streaks appearing across the screen.
I am so bored of the constant bugs in this app.

Font display issue with certain fonts in images from clipboard (18.1 x64)
We use a charting service called Macrobond, and copy images from that software to insert in InDesign. The following buggy behavior is observed:
When using certain fonts in the chart, the pasted image in InDesign displays those fonts in miniscule sizes. That does not happen with other fonts fonts.
I suspect the issue stems from different ways in which InDesign handles the various fonts based on whether they are included or third-party (or perhaps depending if they are installed locally on the PC or is fetched from the Adobe library).
In this example the first image shows a problematic chart…
