1. QR code

   We created business cards for 20 of our employees with a QR-code showing their contact details.
   On more than half of these, the QR-code works correctly on Android but says "no usable data found" on iPhone.

2. InDesign Element changed/defective GREP-Styles after adding it to the cc library

   Indd Version 2022, 17.2.1

   The following Bug occurs: I created an Indd Element with assigend object- and paragraph styles using GREP-styles. If I copy that Element from document to document, it will work just fine. Once I add it to the cc library, the GREP-Styles become defective, even though nothing was changed.
   The defective Styles then stay within that one element.

   futhermore, any object styles using auto-sizing are deformed when placing them from the library.

   the screenshot with the superscript 1 is correct, once in libraries, the 1 won't be superscript anymore.

   The torn yellow box is what happens once i place the element from libraries.

   This is very inconvenient considering we use these assets in the thousands every day.

3. Can't place jpgs at actual size.

   It would be amazing if you could place jpgs at actual size instead of InDesign placing them at sizes that are apparently (based on resolution?)
   
   If I have an 5 inch square jpg file, the resolution should not have anything to do with what size it places at. If it is 5x5 and 300 dpi, and I place it in InDesign, it should be 5x5. If I have a 5x5 jpeg that is 50 dpi, and I place it in InDesign, it should also be 5x5 after placing. I shouldn't have to SCALE something I place to get it to be it's original size. This would be a huge improvement if you could do this.

4. InDesign 19: 'Search for missing links in this folder' not working

   InDesign is not finding other missing links in a folder after reorganisation. All links have to be linked individually – which is much slower than version 18.

   This happened to me after all links were reorganised after packaging, that is, they were moved from the Links folder into other folders.

   When I reverted to using the Links folder, all links were marked as Modified. 'Update all links' command did not work. Links had to be selected in the panel and updated by using the Update links button.

5. heic

   When importing HEIC image files, the orientation of the picture stored in the metadata is being ignored. This is very annoying, since one has to rotate the image manually each time this is imported.

7. QR generated by text variable

   Would be great if you could generate a QR Code from a text variable. Just for automation purposes. For instance on datasheets or brochures, where a single URL is used throughout in text, but also as a QR code on the last page.

9. Input Options for Place aren't remembered

   When I go to place a page from a pdf into an indesign document, the selection is set to transparent. I uncheck transparent, but I have to do that again each time I place a new page. The crop options don't stay either. Can't this be remembered?

10. Page tool causes layout shifts on parent pages

    When the Page Tool is used to resize parent (master) pages, unwanted shifts of page items may occur. These can occur directly in the document or also after an IDML export. Whereby with the IDML export the order of the sample pages plays a role

    Concrete example: When the right bottom corner of the Page Tool is selected and the page size is changed, a position mismatch occurs on the inherited master page.

    It is expected that on master pages of the same size the position of objects and inherited object is the same.

    This does not occur if the upper left corner of the Page tool is used when resizing.

    You can see this also in the different matixes of the inner coordinate system of the master pages.

11. Datamerge QR-code cannot be colored

    When performing a datamerge, the generated QR-codes are black (C0 M0 Y0 K100) and cannot be set to another color prior to merging. This video shows the issue (and complex workaround).

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. set up a datamerge with a qr-code field in data source.
    2. try to color the QR-code any color not black (eg. using Object > Edit QR-Code > Color)
    3. execute datamerge

    Actual result:
    All QR-codes are black.

    Expected result:
    To set the color of the QR-code placeholder the same as a normal QR-code, and for the QR-codes to be colored after the merging.

    MacOS 13.5 Indesign 18.4

12. InDesign do not read EXIF metadata on captions from jpeg exported from PS

    Tested on Adobe InDesign 19.0.1 on macOS Ventura

    Steps:

    I save an image on PS as JPEG and preserve the metadata
    I place that image on InDesign.
    The file info panel is showing the metadata
    I configure and generate the caption with the ISO speed
    The caption do not show any info about the ISO speed

    When working with psd or pdf it works fine. When working with JPEG not created from PS or Lightroom works fine.

13. Relink missing image - InDesign shows wrong file name

    If an image (a link) is missing in the InDesign document, then there is a red circle with a white question mark on the image in the document and on the link in the Links panel. When I double click on the red circle in the Links panel, a file explorer window opens, and that window shows the right image file name in the "File name" text field. But if I double click the red circle that is on the image inside the InDesign document, then the file explorer shows the wrong file name. It shows the name of the file I relinked the time before.

14. Place multi-page PDF pages: Place Gun will be unloaded after first page is placed to a frame

    New bug with InDesign 17.2 that I cannot see with InDesign 17.1.

    [1] Load multiple PDF pages from a multi-page PDF to the place gun.
    [2] Hover the loaded cursor over a graphic frame to place the first page in that frame
    [3] Click to place the first page.

    Result:
    The first page is placed to the frame

    BUG: The rest of the loaded PDF pages in the place gun are unloaded. The place gun is empty after you placed the first of several pages to a frame.

    WHAT WORKS:
    [1] Load multiple PDF pages from a multi-page PDF to the place gun.
    [2] Draw out new frames with the loaded cursor to place one page after another

15. Display error shows outdated editing status of text and text frames

    1. Version of InDesign:
       18.0 / 18.5 with macOS Monterey / Ventura

    2. Steps to reproduce the issues:
       Not possible, error occurs unpredictable. It seems that the error occurs when using documents with many text frames that are linked across several pages. CPU or GPU does not make a difference.

    3. Expected result:
       Display of the same editing status when toggling between guideline view and preview

    4. Actual result (when error occurs):
       One of the two view variants shows outdated editing status of text and text frames, sometimes guideline view, sometimes preview.

16. Images are being flipped on InDesign 2023 > 2024 update

    As title describes, I have a file that is suitable for InDesign 2023 (18.5.0.57), when I open it in InDesign 2024 (19.0.0.151) some rare cases (twice in 1 day) there have been images that have been flipped upside down.

    Fortunately both times the client's have picked this up, I work for a print industry and send back PDFs for print approval. This is the final stage before print.

18. Unlink word document from Links - it used to work in Id2023

    I am missing the "UNLINK" button (right click on word document in Links). I just checked the same documents in both versions 2023 and 2024. In new version the button is missing.

19. Keine Darstellung der Seite (Seite verschwindet beim Text!!!!)

    Indesign 18.5 und 19.0 Bei der Texteingabe verschwindet die ganze Grafik (Seite) Auch beim verschieben vom Nullpunkt verschwindet die ganze Seite.
    Das alles ist unmöglich, ich kann mit diesen Versionen nicht arbeiten.
    Indesign 17.4.2 funktioniert.

20. Align panel issues

    I'm using v 18.3 on mac.

    My align panel isn't completely viewable and looks different that it ever has before. The normal options are gone. Also, in the top toolbar, the align tools only show up when I try to align objects. The tools don't appear when I attempt to align text boxes.

    I've attached a screenshot showing how the toolbar has always looked when I've selected assets to align, one showing how those options are gone unless I'm aligning objects, and a final one of the align panel. This has been very frustrating.
