  1. Data Merge for spreads

it should be possible to export Data Merge directly to PDF as spread. So you don't have to create an InDesign-File first or edit your InDesign-File to generate an single page file.

  2. I would love to be able to create several different "share for review" files for one document

I have a file that is being proofread by three different teams; graphics, copy, and general flow. I want to be able to share a review file with each team, but do not want them all to be reviewing the same review file.

I made a work-around by saving 2 copies of the InDesign file and creating a separate review files for them, but then I have to keep the original .indd file open and attend to the edits from the other two review files using the published web review files and then transcribing them to the original .indd file.

  3. See other units of measurement quickly and easily without changing them for the program.

It would be great to be able to easily see the dimensions of a document in a different unit than using to design. For example, I always design in picas, but often want to check the size in inches. Currently you have to change the units for the whole program, and then switch it back.

  4. Selection dialog when loading master pages

Contrary to dialogs existing for loading character/paragraph styles or cell styles where we can select what to load there is none for loading master pages.

  5. Share for review (Features that can improve it)

A few things that would improve this.

Auto-updating the viewer's side of the document after you save the document instead of refreshing it every time or having to update the link.

When they comment/draw on that it shows on the designer's side in the application as a popup on the document that they can add a checkmark afterward or comment if needed. This would basically bridge both ends to see live updates and live suggestions in the application and on the viewer's side.

It would also make the designer's life easier to go between tabs or applications to see the…

  6. InDesign Book feature does not support live endnotes.

InDesign Book feature does not support live endnotes. if you are using the InDesign Book feature, you won’t be able to generate a list of live endnotes to place in the back matter of your book.

  7. Convert all Live Captions to Static Captions

I would like the ability to convert all Live Captions to Static Captions. Currently, you can only do one at a time by selecting the caption, and selecting the menu item to convert (or create a hotkey).

When working with a long document with a lot of images, you can't use character styles with Live Captions. But once you convert to static captions, paragraph styles can then call character styles (nested, GREP). If you have a long book or catalog with a lot of images that rely on up-to-date captions, but then require character styles (for example, an image from…

  8. Request for adding Mongolian language spelling dictionary

    Hello,

Of course, there are many users from Mongolia, but we can't use our native language spelling dictionary in Indesign. And I want to add a Mongolian language spelling dictionary to Indesign. I've attached the Hunspell dictionary file with the hyphenation file. Hope every Mongolian will be using a Mongolian spelling dictionary within Indesign soon. Thank you!

You can find the Hunspell dictionary from these links:
    https://zuv.bichig.dev/, https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/1980, https://github.com/bataak/dict-mn

  9. Easy Setup for Printers Spreads without using Print Booklet feature

I would like to see an option within the Document Setup when creating a new document to arrange spreads in readers spreads or printers spreads. This way, I would not spend two hours attempting to manually arrange my pages into the correct spreads.

For example: I have created a new document with 12 pages (not facing pages). However, in order to see the pages in printers spreads, I need to go about individually changing page settings for each page within the document. I want the back cover (p.12) and front cover (p1) to sit side by side so that in…

  11. Please change wording for German translation of forced line break

The term »forced line brake« has been wrongly translated to German quite a while ago. There exist two terms in German for the »forced line break« that lead to confusion among users because they are used interchangeably.

One is (translated) »hard line brake« the other one »soft line brake«. But what in a line break is soft or hard? This makes no sense at all.

It would be great to just use the literal translation of the English term which is »Erzwungener Zeilenumbruch« (SHIFT + Return).

Please find attached instances of the use in the German UI. Thanks!

  12. Provide a linking feature to duplicate text from one frame into others

It would be highly valuable to be able to define a parent text frame and then link that frame to other frames in a layout that duplicates the text in that frame.

This would be similar to the way that text links in alternate layouts work, but the styles to the linked (child?) frames are allowed to be independent of the parent.

Trying to use text variables for this kind of duplication runs into the multi-line issue. Copying linked frames from alternate layouts will result in the parent style of the linked text to overrun any changes made to the…

  13. view style dependencies

This has already been suggested but I would like to add.
The problem with viewing style dependencies using the twirling arrows is that the styles might well be in different groups.
Could we get an option to open (and maybe print) a panel with the style dependencies listed?
See the F11 panel in LibreOffice for an idea.

  15. Add all DC Pro Roles to inDesign Export Mapping

Currently, the export mapping for styles in inDesign is limited and does not include all the tags that are available in DC Pro. Some important tags that are missing are BlockQuote, Note, and Caption. This creates a lot of accessibility remediation on the pdf side because of role mapping is incorrect. If I have s style in inDesign called Caption then I should be able to use the export mapping features of that style to assign it to the reserved word Caption in DC Pro. This would eliminate unnecessary work and replace/find searches in the pdf when remediating for 508…

  16. Share 'Story' for Review (with word limit option)

Similar to sharing the whole document for review, it would be very helpful to be able to share individual stories with their respective authors/managers for review and comment (without them having to have a copy of InCopy or some such).

It could show up similarly to the Copy Editorand allow the proof originator (me, in this case) to limit the word count of the document (so that amendments don't come back overfilling the permitted space).

  17. Reveal in Bridge should Select File in Bridge

In macOS, Reveal in Finder not only reveals the file, but selects it in the Finder.

Reveal in Bridge should work the same way, to make it easier to immediately manipulate the file (such as updating metadata).

  18. Reshaping the edges of the whole book/page(s).

I know there are ways to trim edges of frames. I need you to apply this feature to the Whole book/pages or create a better one so that when applying for a new custom document, amongst the settings where there are inches, bleeds, gutter etc there'd be a setting option for reshaping the edges of new document. This is not about reshaping picture frames, this is about reshaping the edges of book or pages itself not the contents. Please I hope you understand my request.

  19. Scrubby Sliders for Everything Like Photoshop

In Photoshop, every scalable feature (opacity, text size, feather radius, etc) is a slider if you click and drag on the name of the adjustment. This is particularly useful for (large) font size. In Photoshop, you can live preview your text size by sliding, while InDesign you have to either arrow key or type numbers to preview. At the very least, make the font size drop down go above 72 pt like Figma!

  20. Display of footnote in epub

Footnotes always appear in Indesign for design purpose, but when we export it to .epub, there should be an option to hide the footnote and it should appear only when the reference number is clicked.
