Preflight warning of unlicensed stock / watermarked images from CC Libraries
When publishing Preflight could warn of unlicensed stock / watermarked images from CC Libraries that are visible in the document.
This would help prevent such mistakes from making it into the final published version.6 votes -
Colouring and user-order of font menu
User customized font menu. Colours and the ability to order the fonts exactly how you want. . This makes it so easy to slide to the part of the menu to grab a font you know. This was done in the 1990's by Now Utilities on OS7, 8 and 9. Bring it on!!! It was SO fast to find your fonts. I had blue for Serif, red for San Serif, green for Script and so on. Colour coding is great for many features.

Reintroduce Composite Fonts, Full East Asian Language Support in English (or any) UI
It used to be a feature of InDesign, regardless of the UI language setting.
(It still is for certain UIs, e.g. in the Japanese iD version)Please bring back this desperately needed feature.

Same Stroke behaviour as Illustrator please
Please make it possible to choose for Illustrator style strokes:
-Strokes should not affect the dimensions of a shape*
-Snapping should snap to the actual box, not the thickness of the Stroke- in Illustrator, a Rectangle of 4x4cm, stays 4 x 4 cm, whatever Stroke is applied. In InDesign, a 4 x 4 cm rectangle, with a 1 cm centered stroke applied, becomes 5 x 5 cm. This makes working with grids very unpleasant.
InDesigns Strokes are very unusefull for trying out styles and thicknesses. Each time the Stroke width changes, the shape size changes along.

Ability to create and edit Object styles in the Properties panel
Trying to lessen dependence on existing panels in an attempt to speed up workflow. So if I could create and edit full Object styles by accessing that option—similar to Para and Character styles on Properties panel, that would be great. I know the Properties panel is a work in progress, so hoping this may appear sometime in the not-to-distant future

Delete swatch / replace swatch
Please display the swatch that will be deleted on the 'Delete Swatch' dialog box to prevent replacing or deleting the wrong swatch (which is too easily done at the moment).
Thanks

Cloud working
A feature for working together on an Indesign document would be great for the year 2019. Similar to Adobe XD Cloud documents, or comparatively like the collaboration of Indesign and Incopy (Check in / Check out) - just cloud based.
I Just want a solution for a group of Designers working on one project without having the trouble of creating a load of documents.
thx

Set row and column dimensions in table styles
I was looking for a way to set row heights in table styles within InDesign and was surprised out there is no way to do this. The only way to do so is to manually manipulate the size in each table.
If I want to create a new table in a new document, I was hoping to have all parameters set the way they need to be set in the table style so other users don't have to manually change the size. I would think this would be a common feature that users would love to have.
Will this be considered for a future update?

Professional Level Graph Tool
All of us professional users need a real Graph/Chart design tool inside Indesign.
It's crazy that you can do this with Microsoft Word or Excel and not with In Design.. Having to go back and forth between Illustrator (whose own graph tool isn't exactly state of the art either) and InDesign is a waste of time for a functionality that should have been implemented years (decades) ago...6 votes -
make the footnote continue in the whole document rather than linked textframes

Integrate PDF comments directly with Document Cloud 'Send for Review'
Currently it's very effective to download a PDF from Document Cloud after using the Acrobat DC 'Send for Review' and then import the comments into InDesign using the PDF comments panel.
It would be great to cut out the Acrobat round-trip and have InDesign export a file for review directly to Document Cloud, and then automatically add the reviewers comments back into the ID workspace.

Snap to frame edges/layers
In Photoshop, there are very robust options for snapping to guides, grids, layers, document bounds, etc. each of which can be turned on and off individually.
In InDesign, snapping is much more limited and it is only possible to snap to guides. This means that whenever snapping is desired, guides must be created, which is an extra step that could be streamlined by expanding snapping options to be more like Photoshop.

Tags - Improve UX and UI for using Standard PDF Tags
Make the Standard PDF Tags available for quick, one-click import into the InDesign Tags Panel from the Tag Panel Menu. The UX/UI could be similar to importing common color libraries (e.g., Pantone Coated) into Illustrator Color Panel.
By "Standard PDF Tags" I mean https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/editing-document-structure-content-tags.html#standard_pdf_tags
Basically any UI that is quicker than manually adding all the Standard PDF Tags, exporting to XML, and then in the future having to remember where they are saved and importing. Also helpful when user frequently changes computers, temporarily doesn't have access to a shared network drive, etc.
Bonus Points
- Color Grouping: Preset the Standard PDF Tag colors to visually hint at relationships between tags.
- Logical Grouping: Group related Tags (e.g., Note and Reference; or Figure, Image and Caption) instead of alphabetical sorting Tags Panel.
- Nest Tags in the Tag panel to reinforce how Tags should be used together.
PS--The InDesign workflow, tools, and documentation for making accessible PDFs has improved so much over the last 10 years. Thank You!

InDesign's own favourite 'edit original' software
With the feature "edit original" in the context menu of images, InDesign opens the image in the OS-default software.
I Think it would be handy to choose a different default edit-software for InDesign only.
If i want to use this feature (especially with shortcuts) I have to set the default software for all images to photoshop (system-wide!). But I do not want to use Photoshop everytime as a default for every image, it's only necessary in InDesign.
It would be great if I could set a default editing software in the settings of InDesign, in wich I can set the default software for each fileformat.
Thanks

Create Picture Index with Page numbers
I need to edit documents with hundreds of pages and I use Paragraph Styles to create automatic alphabetical indexes that will work has hyperlinks when I export do PDF.
Nevertheless, sometimes it's more practical to have a picture índex when working with product catalogues.
It would be very usefull to have the Content collector tool to allow to create automatic hyperlinks to the page where I collected the pictures in order to create na automatic Picture Index with page numbers. The attached file makes it easy to understand.

Align top line of text frame to baseline grid
Hi InDesign Team—
The very handy Only Align First Line to Grid feature is essential for building out multiple styles in books and editorial work. However, book designers are in desperate need of a similar feature for text frames, where only the first line in the text frame aligns to the baseline grid. This is essential for building out pages of backmatter, where the text is tighter and does not necessarily align to the baseline grid of the book, but the distance between the head margin and the first baseline should remain the same.
Is such a feature possible, or am I missing something that is already possible in InDesign to prevent these kinds of mis-aligned pages. Currently the only solution is to have multiple masters for different text blocks in the body text and the backmatter, but it seems a simple Align Only First Line of Text Frame would ease a lot of pain.
Thank you,

Convert Clipping Path to Frame for multiple objects
There is a command, Object > Clipping path > Convert Clipping Path to Frame. This will read the clipping path in a placed image and convert it to a frame. The command only works when only one object is selected, If multiple images are selected and every one of them has a clipping path the command is selectable but has no effect. There is no reason for this limitation.

Hyperlinks report
The Hyperlinks panel needs to be better overhauled please. I have a 300 page magazine with hyperlinks in each section (different sections provided by a team) ... so a Report Hyperlinks option would be very useful please, in the same way you can generate a Report in the Links panel.

More error information when exporting to PDF
Problem Description: There are some times when exporting to a PDF, the dialogue box will show there is an error which results in no PDF being created. That is all the information we get and therefore have to guess what the problem is. Some more information would be useful.
When exporting an interactive PDF, I noticed that you get far more information when the PDF is being created.
If we had this information added to the Background Tasks when exporting a normal PDF, it would give us a clue what page is causing the problem.
I've attached a screenshot to show what I mean (the screenshot was taken when exporting an interactive PDF)
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Choose File > Export or Adobe PDF presets
2. When PDF is making, alt+click on the Background Tasks
3. If there is an error, it will show with a yellow triangle - click on that triangle
4. The alert window will show 'PDF Failed to Export'Actual Result: You just get told the PDF didn't work
Expected Result: I would prefer some sort of progress text, such as Exporting pages, 1, 2, 3, etc so that when the error message comes up, I at least have some idea what page is causing the problem. You used to get this in Quark Xpress so I would appreciate this information in InDesign.
Any Workarounds: Just export a series of pages at a time until the PDF comes up with an error.
