Export correct unicode spaces to epub/html
Logging this as a new feature, but it could also be a bug? Also logging this under "EPUB" since thats most important to me, but it also affects "HTML"
Currently the only space characters exported by InDesign are the regular space and the non breaking space. All others are converted to regular spaces on export. These spaces should be retained in the epub, since they are supported by reading systems and in many cases it is typographically incorrect to use regular spaces.
Spaces with direct Unicode mappings:
Normal Space U+0020
Nonbreaking Space U+00A0Em Space U+2003
En Space U+2002

Preferences | Spelling... Add Find Option to Ignore Check Spelling on Master Pages and Pasteboard
Please add an option under Preferences | Spelling... Add Find Option to Ignore Check Spelling on Master Pages and Pasteboard.
This should be a Preferences feature under Spelling that can be turned on and off. I see that other people have asked for a similar feature so it's definitely a popular ask.
I'm a design professional and I create and use templates for a large corporation's various product marketing teams. Even with the best editors typos will slip through so it would be nice to be able to run a quick spell check on a document. Unfortunately, a quick spell…

Illustrations should be movable anyway
Re: Images Anchored
Huge problem and fault of Indesign is the anchor feature.
The layout of anchored Illustrations can NOT be moved around freely on the page it is anchored on. If you try to move the graphic around ANYWAY on the page or the before it or the next page, the text is OBSCURED OR DESTROYED —the text is underneath the graphic. If you use the "inline" function the result is the same. The ability to move the "anchored" graphic anyway is very LIMITED. The TEXT should re-position itself around the image wherever it is moved.
Lets update the…

Vertical Type
Please add a Vertical Type tool like the one that is in Illustrator and Photoshop. The method of typing each letter on a line and returning after each is fine, but more time-consuming than it needs to be. The other method, using Type on a Path with a straight line and the stair step effect, does not produce aligned text.

Improve UI Efficiency of Styles Panels
SEE ATTACHED SCREENSHOT—
The UI of the styles panels is way too spacious in some areas and, as a result, way too compressed in other ways.
The panels have to be stretched wider than they should just to read all the text.
Attached screenshot has a before-and-after with analysis and proposed redesign.

MacBook Pro Touchbar
To format text and paragraphs in InDesign I use shortcuts all the time. In really increases my work speed. Unfortunately these only work with a number pad. The MacBook Pro doesn't have a number pad. Could you extend this funktion to either other keys, the touchbar or fn-key combinations?

“Split Footnotes” under Numbering & Section Options
Hello,
I want to ask for a little function tweak of “Split Footnotes”.
By now, you can only adjust “Split Footnotes” for the whole document.
This is difficult for documents with many pages! Sometime there are some footnotes in a chapter that you want to break over to the next page because they are to long. But the rest of the footnotes should be only on one page.
It would be nice to setup “Split Footnotes” as an “override” of the global function in the Numbering & Section Options in the Pages panel. So you can decide by the chapter…

Protect approved text or pages. Properly lock text, objects or layers so that Ctrl Z doesn't undo the lock
Sometimes when I am doing multiple Ctrl-Zs on a page it flicks back to an article on a previous page and undoes that too. If that has been previously approved and Ctrl Z makes changes I miss, that's a problem, especially if I press another key by mistake before I can do re-do. It would be very useful to properly lock approved content so that Ctrl-Z doesn't affect it. A default option would be great.

Easy text export of color number information for Branding
On branding projects, I have to provide my clients with all their color number information, and make it look pretty at the same time. A way to export or copy/paste the cmyk, rgb, hex, pantone, lab information would be hugely helpful! See example

We can change text across multiple open documents, it would be really handy if you could do the same with fonts too.

Miro/Keynote-style simplified pen tool and magnetising arrows for diagrams.
Often I have to make flow charts and diagrams for our projects, and the power of the hyper-manual pen tool and frames tends to show down the design process when compared to similar processes in Miro or Keynote. If there was a way to make a simple curved line and magnetise it to a text box that would make pushing around content 1000% faster.

Add option to center Document Grid on page (instead of aligned left)
Please add an option to center the Document Grid to the middle of the page. That is, instead of the origin of the grid being placed at the top left of the document, have an option to place the grid origin at the top center of the page. This way, extra space that "overflows" the grid is evenly distributed at the edges of the document (as a kind of default gutter), instead of the current behavior, in which the grid is aligned to the left edge of the document and any "overflow" space is only on the right side…

Idea to create a simpler way to type on path with ellipse / circle
I wish you could create a better and simpler way to type on path, especially on ellipses / circles. It's SUPER difficult when you have to work with multiple lines in a circle, like we used to on a CD for example.
My pitch:
What if we could treat typing on path like a text box? So you draw the ellipse / shape from the Type on Path menu, and the text automatically gets treated as if Typing on a line / shape?
And when you press Return, it behaves like it would in a paragraph (text going to…2 votes -
Footnotes
If you have a text with two or more columns the footnotes appear in the same column. That's great but it would be much nicer if you could have the footnotes under the colums ans as wide as both/all columns together. At the moment the efford to get this is very high and I have to use additional text boxes and I loose the connection between number in the text and footnote.

show import highlighted pdf comments with different color than H&J violations
When you import PDF comments that are highlighted text, they appear in the layout with the same color/treatment as text marked by checking Preferences: Composition: Highlight: H&J violations. These should be visually differentiatable from one another.
