Better use of tags to create a barrier-free PDF with InDesign
Hello Adobe InDesign Team
for accessibility I have to use TAGs in PDFs. I creat my PDF out of InDesign and InDesign has already some features to add TAGs and structure to a PDF when exported but some features are buggy or incomplete so the PDF has to be revised manually, which is a big disadvantage especially when there are changes in the original InDesign file later.
So here some of the most imported things I would changes to make this process easier.
Add PDF/UA-1
A barrier-free PDF need the PDF/UA-1 Note in the XMP-Metadata. I can only be done via Acrobat by now. (see PDF-UA-1.jpg)Add custom alternative text to „all“ link-TAGs
Every link-TAG needs an alternative text to be barrier-free. By now you can only add custom alternative texts to links-TAGs that are created via the hyperlink window. But InDesign creates also link-Tags for other elements where you can not add an alternative text. This is the case if youcreate a table of contents with InDesign
use end or footnotes
use cross-references
Missing Tags in the Paragraph Styles tag export setting
In the Paragraph Styles setting under Tagexport is no option for a caption tag or a quote tag:
See image "more tags needed". Also see this list of all possible tags https://accessible-pdf.info/de/basics/general/overview-of-the-pdf-tags/Undefined path object
If I use graphical effects for texts or tables (drop shadow, colored underline for text, colored text box, line between table rows…) this path objects are not tagged when exported. They need to be tagged as arte fact.Tabel, TH not THead , TD not Body
InDesign exports tabels with wrong tag. The tag for a table head is TH not THead. The tag for a table cell is TD not TBody. Also you need to be able to be more precise to define what cell is a TH in a tabel and what cell is TD. Also you have to be able to define if TH in a column refer to TD in a row. See tabel-head.
I stop the list here for now, if you completed the points above I have more to come with, just get in touch with me. I appreciate to make this work easier.

pdf imported remarks
At the moment its only possible to accept remarks/corrections one at a time. But often in a document, there are exactly the same corrections. For example: amsterdam becomes Amsterdam (Capital A). It would be great to accept all these similar corrections at once (or be offered to accept them one at a time throughout the document). And remarks like delete page number are not supported. (masterpage elements)

Form - text fields that can be assigned with paragraph styles in stead of the default font, style, size.
Default font is set to Minion Pro, size 12 for new text fields. It should be assigned with a paragraph style. The only workaround now is to go to find/replace font.

Make table cells clickable instead of just the content.
Make the table cells clickable for Interactive PDF. Currently only the content inside of a table cell is clickable so it doesn't work as a button.

Share for Review Editing Tools
When a stakeholder is commenting on a Share for Review document, it would be great if the editing tool they used most was either sticky or became the default. Our proofer posts around 300 comments on our magazine and when he's using Share for Review, he has to select the highlighter tool each time he makes a comment. Having it be the default (or allowing it to stick once it's chosen) would making proofing much more efficient.

Adjust minimum height and width when scaling text frames with autosize
When scaling a text frame that is set to autosize with a minimum height and width, everything gets scaled – except for the minimum height and width, leading to ridiculously looking assets when scaled to different sizes for one-time-exceptions.
Please make it so the minimum width and height is scaled just as the margins and everything else - it would make working with assets with automadet assets with irregular sizes so much easier. Thanks!

[InCopy] Open selected recent documents (open more than just one document)
Hello,
A new feature that allows the user to choose to open more than one InCopy document at once in the option 'File > Open Recent' would be very useful.I've posted this request last year (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601021-adobe-indesign-feature-requests/suggestions/45136654-open-more-than-one-document-per-session-in-open), but nobody reached me.
It would be very useful to have this option in InCopy as I always work with chapters (usually 8) that are stored in different subfolders; that is, it is not possible to go to a single folder/directory, select the eight chapters that I will edit and open them whenever I need to edit these chapters (and I always need to have the 8 chapters open because I need to standardize terms, acronyms, etc. in all of them, saving time). Needless to mention, obviously I can't move the files I'm going to edit into the same/single folder as those files contain links to images and other details that prevent me from considering such a solution.
I'm an exclusive InCopy user (I'm a copyeditor, not a designer), so any alternatives (including opening/editing such files in InDesign or similar possible solutions) are out of the question. It is also worth mentioning that, as a professional copyeditor, I receive many books per month to be edited over the course of weeks (so that, over the course of days, when turning the computer off and on, I have to open each of the chapters one by one each time); so it's not a one-time problem.
I recognize that opening more than one file at once already demands a high computer/RAM processing, and opening 8 files/tabs may require a longer 'initialization', but an option that allows selecting, in 'Recent files', more than a file for them to be opened sequentially would be of great help.
Regards,

PDF export function with the selection of which metadata or whether general metadata of pictures should be exported.
Many companies and also designers are not aware that they share sensitive content on their websites via the metadata for expamle in pictures, if these were uploaded directly after the InDesign PDF Export.
Many PDFs created with InDesign that you can find online from large companies contain very accurate, detailed information such as mails/phone numbers/patient information/non-public addresses/etc (for example Metadatas from Images embedded wihtin the exported PDF). This is a privacy conflict and in some countries a violation of existing laws.
Photoshop/Lightroom/Premiere, for example, use a check box/features to control the metadata that is exported. In InDesign this feature is missing.

Could the order of fonts in the lists in Find/Replace font be adjusted?
In the Find section of the dialog the font styles are listed alphabetically. In the Replace section they are listed by their order in the menu (from thin to black or whatever).
Could this be the same in both sections?1 vote -
Add color to alpha option for linked images
I would like to be able to set the white background of a black and white UPC png to transparent. Using a clipping path does not work very well with UPCs as it either clips off some of the bars or leaves some white space around the numbers.
I don't see how it would be too difficult to define a color as transparent for a linked graphic to make it not necessary to edit the original graphic.

Add leading zeroes to single page image exports
When exporting pages to images (something we do quite a lot in comics), it helps with further batch processing to have a sufficient number of leading zeroes as part of the exported filename.
So instead of:
Page 1
Page 2
Page 99
Page 103Page 001
Page 002
Page 099
Page 103This can be a selectable feature in the user preferences or automatically generated to pad the number of leading zeroes to match the number of pages in the exported file (e.g. if there are only 93 pages in the book, only add leading zeroes to 1-9 so all numbers are two digits. If it's 103 pages, add two leading zeroes to 1-9 and one leading zero to 10-99).
This is default behaviour in Acrobat, so already exists within the Adobe codebase.

Color Pallet: add a Shade slider (percent of black mixed) for selected swatch (just like tint slider but with black)
In the color Pallet please add a Shade slider which adds a percentage of black to the selected swatch. It would act just like tint slider, which adds a percentage of white to the color swatch, except the Shade slide controller would add black.
This would also need a new type of Shade swatch perhaps.

Export JPG with specific name and as a background task
Now that many users are using INDD to prepare web graphics INDD needs a feature to be able to name the page so when the pages are exported as JPGs or PNGs they are named properly.
I found a script to do this but it would be great to build this into the application. All that would be needed is a variable where we could add the name and INDD would look at that text frame to name the exported files.
This is important to do it this way so this can be a feature of data merge as well. In addition to content for the web graphic coming in from a CSV users can also have a column with the page name so INDD uses that specific page name during the export to name the exported files.

I like the Properties Window very much. I would like it back as default window in the right bar of the window.

Command Line
I think this feature would make all Adobe products so much faster, easier to use, and more efficient. Something where you could turn it off and on and type your command, or a custom alias, and immediately activate the tool or menu item you want. It could just be something you toggle in the Window menu and that could appear at the top of the screen under the upper toolbar.
