AI agent for remembering text content style
I often work with instruction manuals that have been poorly translated, and I need to reword them so they read clearly and professionally. A lot of the content is similar across different jobs, and I’d like to stay consistent with how I’ve written things in the past without having to dig through old files manually.
It would be great if InDesign had an AI agent that could:
Learn my style and remember my text preferences (e.g. whether I use “kg” or “KG”).
Automatically reference past projects so I don’t have to copy/paste from older manuals and allow me to ask questions (e.g if I have written something similar before).
Allow me to give it a database of text I may need to reference a lot (e.g generic safety warnings. Bonus points for the ability to group by product or specific uses)
Remember the style and layout of these types of text. (e.g if something would normally be written as a heading with a certain paragraph style)

Página Principal (Maestra) aplicada automáticamente
Hola desarrolladores,
Espero puedan conciderarla.

InDesign Mac remember window size and position
InDesign should remember the window size and position for each file it has closed upon reopen, as well as new files, too.
Simples.

page sorter
When I'm working on a long document, it's very hard to find a specific page that I know the look of, but don't know the page number to. And trying to move pages around is also ver hard in the small Page panel.
It would be nice to be able to switch views in the main document window/panel to something that looks like the slide sorter on Microsoft Powerpoint. Where the thumbnails of each page isn't as small as they are on the Pages panel and there is a much larger screen real estate to sort through the pages.
We could toggle between regular view and slide sorter view with a shortcut button maybe next to the Split Layout button on the bottom right. When I'm working on a long document, it's very hard to find a specific page that I know the look of, but don't know the page number to. Bookmarking files on home screen
I'm often working on 10+ projects and probably 20+ files in Indesign at a time. Whenever I restart the computer or switch between projects, it takes time to navigate to the folder where I've saved the project and look at various collateral involved with the project as well as open the Indesign file.
It would be great to have another section on the home screen under the Recent files to have Bookmark files. The logical place to put the bookmark function would be in the Files menu when you have the file open, but you can also put a shortcut in right clicking the document tab and putting bookmark there or having a little toggle star icon on the document tab itself.
And it would be amazing if both the home screen bookmark section and home screen recent files section have the option to right click on the thumbnail and open in Explorer or Bridge so I can find my folders quickly without searching for them in Explorer.I'm often working on 10+ projects and probably 20+ files in Indesign at a time. Arrange pages panel
Being able to drag pages around in the Pages window is fine, but it's incredibly clunky and slow. It's very easy to make mistakes when you can only see 3 minuscule pages at once in the window. Would it be possible to make a new type of window with a grid layout of all your pages, where you can easily select multiple pages and drag pages around?
Also, as others have mentioned, please implement page folders!! That would be so useful.

Business
Hi there, a friend recommended Swiss trust when I mentioned I needed better asset protection. Curious, I visited their site and read about how they focus on privacy and safeguarding assets. What really caught my eye was their straightforward process and the emphasis on security. I decided to try their service myself to protect some personal investments, and it felt reassuring to work with a company that clearly knows what they’re doing. The experience was smooth, and I appreciated how they kept everything confidential.

Make Hyperlink Accessibility Alt Text Scriptable
You can create hyperlinks using an InDesign script, but you can't set the hyperlink's alt text. So I can create hundreds of hyperlinks in minutes with a script, but I still have to edit each one manually to set the alt text, and that takes hours.

Apply effects to layers. Please.
I would like the ability to apply effects to layers. For instance, I would like “Layer A” to multiply over “Layer B”. What I don't want is all the elements on “Layer A” that are pink and green in the attached reference image to multiply over one another.

Right-click "remove hyperlink"
Why can't Adobe do this yet? It is 2025 for God's sake. Removing a hyperlink is a multi-step process. It should be a simple right click. And I am talking about the actual hyperlink, not the character style. I already have a script that will remove unwanted styles with no active hyperlink beneath them. I just want a FAST, EASY way to remove unwanted hyperlinks that clients ALWAYS seem to insert, even though they know they don't want them included.

Add an “Empty Output” Option for Text Variables (Urgent Request)
Dear Adobe InDesign team,
As a professional typesetter/designer, I heavily rely on the text variables feature to automate running headers, footers, and other dynamic text in my documents. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to specify an empty or null output when a text variable evaluates to nothing. Instead, InDesign inserts the last used value or some default text. This forces me to manually adjust the layout or apply complex GREP styles to hide unwanted characters when the variable is empty.
Please add an “Empty Output” option to the text variables feature that allows the variable to output nothing at all when it has no value. This would be extremely useful for workflows where certain sections of a document may not always require a running header, chapter title, or other dynamically generated text. It would also reduce the need for tedious manual cleanup or workarounds using nested styles.
An “Empty Output” option would make text variables much more flexible and improve the quality and efficiency of our layouts. Thank you for considering this feature request. Given how critical text variables are for long document workflows, I hope you will prioritise this enhancement.
Best regards,

Assignment scripting and linking
Currently there is no way to script the link of stories to assignments, I've been trying to script this but it's not possible. this would speed up my workflow as well as the workflow of my coworkers considerably to be able to do this. Also I think this is along the same line, there is no way to change assignment location via script. this doesn't come up often but its frustrating that it cannot be scripted.

Please Add Option to Remove Individual Files from Recent List on Welcome Screen
Message:
Hi Adobe team,
In the latest versions of InDesign, it seems the ability to right-click and remove individual files from the “Recent” list on the Welcome screen has been removed or is no longer available. This feature was incredibly useful for keeping the workspace clean and organized — especially when dealing with outdated or duplicate files.
I would love to see this functionality restored or improved with a visible “Remove from Recent” option for each file, similar to what’s available in Illustrator and Photoshop.

Scroll through placed multi-page PDFs or InDesign documents within InDesign
Essentially, make the Show Import Options Preview panel directly accessible inside InDesign.
This would save me a considerable amount of time.

Impossible to copy comments from InDesign Reviews — very inconvenient for workflow
It is extremely frustrating that comments left in InDesign Reviews (Share for Review) cannot be copied. Often, I need to paste a comment into a search bar, a style name, or simply save it for documentation. Having to manually retype every single comment is a waste of time and increases the risk of errors. Please add the ability to select and copy comment text directly from the Review panel. This is a basic feature that should not be missing.

Give a Direction: Forward/Backward option in the Find/Change panel for Color
The Text option for Find/Change has the option to cycle through the results in the opposite direction. This would be VERY helpful to have on the colour option as well, I have no idea why it would be available for text but not colour, it's the same function?
