Edit undo on specific object or page
It would be great to be able to select an object or page and undo the last change that you made to it.
I think this would be good in illustrator too.

Replace white background color with transparency
Quark X Press is able to replace the white background color of a placed TIFF image with transparency - this is the only feature I miss in InDesign.

Contour mangement as illustrator
It would be awesome if the size of the shape doesn't matter of the size of the contour. For example, if i draw a 10x10cm square in illustrator, the size is the same with 0pt contour or 20pt contour.
Bur in Indesign, the size is 10x10cm only if there is a1pt contour, and 10,7x10,7 if there is a 20pt contour. It is very disturbing when you have to create a cutting shape.2 votes -
Ignora contorna con testo
Buongiorno, rilevo che quando copio un oggetto da un documento ad un altro (Ctrl+c Ctrl+v) viene persa l'impostazione "ignora contorna con testo".
Necessito di una soluzione.
GrazieGood morning, I notice that when I copy an object from one document to another (Ctrl+c Ctrl+v), the "ignore wrap with text" (https://helpx.adobe.com/it/indesign/using/text-wrap.html) setting is lost.

Turn on/off show spell check in PREVIEW or other screen modes. Not just NORMAL
When switching between NORMAL screen Mode to PREVIEW mode I still want any spelling errors to show. This would be great in any screen mode with some kind of a toggle button. In fact, the ability to show various hidden paragraph and character formatting would be brilliant.

Span Columns: Let us enter "1"
Currently, when we go to Span Columns and type "1" we get an error.
It would be so great to be able to type "1" and have InDesign realize that we are wanting to, in effect, switch the paragraph layout from Span Columns to Single Columns.

Using local alphabets in Numering Style Format (Paragraph Styles)
We have only two character formats "A, B, C, D ..." and "a, b, c, d ..." except digital. But many of us work with texts in languages with other alphabets, which are also used as indexes of lists. It would be nice to have formats of local alphabets depending on the language chosen for the paragraph. For example, if the Russian language is selected for the paragraph, then in the list of character formats, except the Latin alphabet, there will be a Russian "А, Б, В, Г..."

Path to be for every action (open/save/import ...) the same in dialog
Indesign in CS had the feature that every path in every dialogue was the same (when you opened a doc the import path was the same as well). Nowadays I feel like using Xpress all over again: every dialog has the path it had from the last access (open would be e.g. on C:\, place file on D:\foo\bar and so on. Can there maybe a checkbox to sync paths between the open dialogues that indesign manages?

Print Preview Dialogue Box
The small print preview in the print dialogue box was recently changed to a light grey, making it harder at first glance to discern page from background. Can you please allow changing it back to dark grey be a preferences option

XML Workflow – InDesign need to improve much
We're facing huge difficulties in InDesign while handling the XML structure in InDesign, but it's good in FrameMaker. After importing the XML files in InDesign, no control is available in InDesign to validate the XML coding structure, also allowing the users to easily tamper the XML coding. Due to this limitation, XML extracting from InDesign are not actually correct and users need to fine-tune the same and spending huge time to correct. So current XML features to be improved much.

I can open InDesign CS6 nor more: Code 4
If I want to open my documents with CS6, I work with CS6, there is permanent the failure code 4 and I can´t open it, but these documents are very important.

Querverweise
Querverweise in andere Dokumente funktioniert nicht zuverlässig. Entwerden stürzt INDesign ständig ab oder die Performance ist so stark eingeschränkt, dass man quasi in InDesign nicht mehr arbeiten kann, da die Dokumente, auf die verwiesen wird ständig im Hintergrund geöffnet und wieder geschlossen werden.

Hyphenate : make exceptions
1 How if we could select/input characters which do NOT count as characters to be hyphenated ? My customers wants his product names & codes (which contain hyphens) NOT to be hyphenated. So in the paragraph hyphen options there would be a box to input "/" or combos like "Li-Ion".
2 Would save enormously on manual copy checks.

Easier crosschecking, resetting and copying throughout all styles
We are working with at least ten different paragraph styles per document. If there are changes to be made in the CIs we have to check every single style: Opening up the Paragraph Style Options window, changing, closing, next style, reapeat... forgetting something and opening all windows again to check.

Drag text from CC libraries to existing line
When you drag text from the CC libraries into a text frame that has some text in it, the text you dragged won't be added to the line but it will create a new text frame.
I'd like it for the text to be added to a line in a text frame.
2 votesThanks for making this suggestion. Currently you can right click on the Text element in the Libraries Panel with your insertion pointer at the location where you would want the text to go.
Once you do this you get an option of Placing inline. This way you can insert the text at the exact same location.Let me know how this goes for you.

I opened my Indesign program and a message asked if I could provide input on how to improve Indesign. Here is my reply.
I tried to write this response in the "Help Improve Adobe Products" window that opens up on launch of Indesign, but I ran out of space:
Indesign has layer after layer after layer of instructions on how do even the most common things. The problem is that in order to understand one layer, you have to understand at least the terminology and concepts of the other layers. Create Terminology-list
Implement a function to handle a Terminology-List.
Of course - there are several Tools and PlugIns available to manage Terminology. In most cases these Products are not necessary and too big. And the all have two things in common: Price and Handling.
So the easiest way would be if we could have the possibility to manage on flattest way a terminology list (outside the document) by ourselve. Allow linked excel table to thread inside text thread
It
s possible to insert linked excel table in text. But in this case table doesnt thread to the next page when it is long. From the othe side it`s possible to insert linked excel table as new story (as separate frame).In this case table threading is OK.But in this case you have to look for continuity of your document because there is no possibility to glue frames of text and tables to each other to provide continuity.2 votes
