  1. More detailed document presets

If I'm regularly creating designs for which I'll need a variety of page layouts — say for example, a Facebook image, an Instagram image, a YouTube thumbnail, and a print flyer — I'd like to create a document preset that includes all of these.

Currently, you can only have one page size in a document preset, but I'd like to be able to designate something like "page 1 is letter size, page 2 is 1920x1080," etc.

  2. InDesign Page panel

While duplicating the spread in the page panel of the Indesign, it just duplicates the page below the original page, it is good, but it should not fluctuate the panel screen.

  3. Ability to change text from a dialog box like Corel Draw

I use Corel Draw from time to time and when I need to edit a string of text it lets me edit it from a dialog box instead of only on the page so I do not have to zoom up on any text strings to edit them. Can this be done for InDesign and Illustrator as well.

  4. automatically use comment highlight

I'm always getting comments without highlights because I forget to select the highlight before I write the comment... it would be great to default to highlight color x every time

  5. Paragraph Rules Improvements

I would be great if the Paragraph Rules menu received a couple of improvements:

    1) Add a chain link for when you want both the Color and Gap Color to be the same. Likewise for the Tint and Gap Tint percentage.

    2) This one is a bit difficult to explain, but one of the biggest annoyances with using Paragraph Rules to apply a RULE ON to text is that the rule expands/contracts in an undesired way if you change the size of a text box or if you add/delete something from the text. What should happen is that the rule…

  6. Right Click on object -> Move/Copy it to any Layer

Sometimes when you want to move or copy an object from one layer to another, it can become a bit cumbersome if you're working with a lot of layers and those layers themselves have a lot of files.

So my suggestion is to add a menu shortcut when you right click on any object to move that object to any available layer.

    See crude example below.

    Thank you.

  8. ability to import .avif file.

InDesign should be able to import .avif files. It doesn't need more explanation than that, except to say, If importing graphics and images is one of the core purposes of the program, it's surprising to find a format that can't be imported. Please keep InDesign updated and capable of working with all formats.

  9. Quick Key for increaseing space between paragraphs.

A quick key for increasing space between paragraphs would make it quicker to explore and establish paragraph styles. It would be great if there were quick keys to adjust the spacing around the first and last line too, but the space between paragraphs seems more important, personally speaking.

How about Command + Option + Shift + up/down Arrow Keys so it's similar to the quick key to increase/decrease leading.

  12. Batch Rename Multiple Layers at once. Find/Change Names of Layers.

Would be nice to rename multiple Layers at once in Indesign like renaming Files in a Finder-Folder. Or with a additional function for Find/Change.

Usecase in the picture below. Have to rename several Layers for exporting with scripts. Always double-click is annoying. Would improve my Workflow a lot.

  13. Add ability to make resusable/editable linked COMPONENTS (like in XD)

InDesign has been dancing around the edges of this idea for years, with half-baked features like snippets, libraries, linked items in the content grabber....but it never has gotten it right. What we need is something exactly like the "components" feature in Adobe XD. We grab some objects, and then "Make Component" out of them. Then we can plop multiple instances of that component throughout the document. If we go back and edit the "Main Component" those changes are automatically applied to all placed instances of it.

Yes, I know you can place one indesign doc into another, which is the…

  15. Comments in Logical Order Please

The comments in Share for Review currently start on the right hand page of a spread work down and then skip to the top of the left-hand spread. This is confusing.

  16. Store Export settings along with PDF and update PDF with the same settings

I find it hard to impossible to tell the export settings of a PDF file just from the file. Am I missing where to look? I would like to have

    • Write settings as human readable text into the metadata of PDF Files, when they are exported
    • Export settings as Export preset, stored along with PDF (as metadata within the file)
    • Import the Export Presets by pointing at an existing PDF File (with this metadata available)
    • Update any PDF File (given the export settings-metadata are available) with the same settings by pointing to the the File that is to be updated

  17. Update only some pages of an earlier exported PDF

When Exporting a big document, sometimes after a change it would be nice to update only the changed page in the exported file.
    - it would save time as the export would complete faster
    - no need to have all the linked files of the whole document locally just to update one page
    - it would save me exporting one one some pages and then opening the old PDF file in Acrobat and replacing the updated page manually.

  18. Create a shortcut after a program update

When InDesign (or any other Adobe app is updated), I have to find the old shortcuts, delete them, hunt for the new program version and manually create a new shortcut and pin it to the taskbar. Is there a way to automate this or make it easier? Can it be done in CC?

  19. Window size-changing

I find that Photoshop, Acrobat, Bridge and Dreamweaver all follow Apple’s standard of double-clicking at the top of a window to make it expand to full screen or return to the previous size. InDesign (v.19.0.1) apparently does not (I use only these five Adobe Cloud apps). InDesign windows will double-click expand to full screen but won’t returning to their previous size. The alternative, dragging the right-hand edge, is very tedious.
