version 20.2.0.30 claims to solve the "[ID-4243320] Incorrect Cursor movement in right-to-left text within InDesign when composed using
Harfbuzz shaper" bug. unfortunately, it's still not working well. this bug is also listed under [ID-4246352]
up untill version 18.5, when selecting a letter with a diacritic in hebrew, the selection marker would indictae if the letter AND the diacritic is selected, or just one of them. but currently, under harfbuzz shaper, selecting a letter and a dicaritic looks exactly like selecting it without the diacritic. and this way you can't act just on part of the letter-diacritic combination. it may sound unimportant but actually in Hebrew we make a lot of formats on the diacritics alone, so it's critical.
to repeat the bug, write a letter in hebrew and add one or two diacritics. say: נֵּ
now try to select just the first diacritic (dagesh) or the second (kamatz) - you'll see it's like the whole letter is selected.
but this is how it looked back in version 18.5 (which most designers in hebrew still use due to all the bugs in newer versions):
    selecting one diacritic:

    selecting two diacritics:

selecting two diacritics AND the letter itself:

The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2025(v20.3.1.073). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

the problem is bigger: those <feff> markers corrupt diacritics in Hebrew when exported to PDF, but in InDesign it still looks OK. so InDesign is not WYSIWYG anymore

GPU Acceleration on Windows is available with the latest InDesign 2025(v20.4.0.052). Please update to the latest InDesign via the CCD app to get this feature.

The minimum system requirements for using GPU Acceleration on

    1. Windows are: Monitor with a display resolution greater than 2K
    2. GPU card with at least 1GB vRAM.

Note on GPU Acceleration: High-resolution monitors are becoming the standard. With the high monitor resolutions, it is getting difficult for the CPU to handle the rendering. This is where the GPU comes into play. Rendering on high-density displays is best handled by the GPU. GPU acceleration makes the rendering of the documents faster while zooming, scrolling, and panning. The enhanced performance from using the GPU in InDesign powers features like Animated Zoom, which make zoom actions smooth and animated.

Based on our internal tests, we found that GPU acceleration provides better performance when the monitor's display resolution is…

Many internal as well as external factors can cause the InDesign application to crash/freeze/hang. A few workarounds are listed at Fix crash issues with InDesign.

We completed the investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue has been resolved in the most recent release of InDesign (Refer to InDesign Release notes), the issue was intermittent at the time of reporting and is no longer reproducible, or the InDesign version mentioned in the report is no longer covered by Creative Cloud Support Policy.

We would recommend you upgrade to the latest version as it is more robust. If you are still facing this issue even after updating it, either submit the crash report(Refer to Submitting crash reports) to us or Contact Adobe support.
