An error occurred while saving the comment Max commentedI totally agree! This would be so convenient. I wonder if one is not supposed to use/change it that often since it's buried so deep in the prefs and no one's voting for it.
It also would be nice if the maximum amount of 35,278 mm could be increased to the dimensions of the pasteboard or something.Max supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Max commentedGood idea. It also would be convenient if it would be more accessible like in AI. There it's the first thing that is highlighted.

An error occurred while saving the comment Max commentedI'm not sure if this is helping, but I got curious, so I tried a few things. When I examine both versions of your image files with exiftool, I notice that some (maybe crucial) information ist missing.
The saved jpg contains these additional lines:
Profile CMM Type : Linotronic
Profile Version : 2.1.0
Profile Class : Display Device Profile
Color Space Data : RGB
Profile Connection Space : XYZ
Profile Date Time : 1998:02:09 06:49:00
Profile File Signature : acsp
Primary Platform : Microsoft Corporation
CMM Flags : Not Embedded, Independent
Device Manufacturer : Hewlett-Packard
Device Model : sRGB
Device Attributes : Reflective, Glossy, Positive, Color
Rendering Intent : Perceptual
Connection Space Illuminant : 0.9642 1 0.82491
Profile Creator : Hewlett-Packard
Profile ID : 0
Profile Copyright : Copyright (c) 1998 Hewlett-Packard Company
Profile Description : sRGB IEC61966-2.1So I guess it's not really a bug, the colour profile information is actually missing. I couldn't find out what is causing this.

Hi,
Thanks for reporting the issue. We have been able to locally reproduce the issue that refers to “ID crashes when exporting to PDF, but not to JPEG”-Aman
An error occurred while saving the comment Max commented(Fortunately) I've never experienced anything like it. The good news is you can write a PDF of pages 2-12, because only something on page one is broken. When I click on one of the two text frames (Gala, 2018), ID crashes. What that could be is unfortunately not within my area of competence.
Anyway, here's a link to a duplicate of your complete file, but the evil two text frames. https://we.tl/xuQ6EYppFd
If your prefer to use your own document (or the content filter deleted the link), hit Alt+A and then Delete or Backspace NOT Alt+X and rebuild your cover page. -

https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/fixed-issues.htmlAn error occurred while saving the comment Max commentedLuckily I found a solution here: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1471566
Go to Preferences > Guides & Pasteboard > DISABLE Preview background - Match to Theme Color.
I remember changing that last week or so. But since I only shut down my Mac only Friday evening, the bug hasn't kicked in ... or I never tried to close an unchanged document. An error occurred while saving the comment Max commentedI encounter the same issue. The only "unusual" thing I did today, was changing a color management setting. I changed it back, but the issue remains.

Thanks for this suggestion. I need a little more information in trying to understand this request a bit more:
1. Is the situation that you have created a design already or have an existing design and now need to change the page size. Any description on why you need to change the page would be helpful.
2. How drastic is the page size change. Is it just a minor change or is it something like changing from portrait mode to landscape.
3. Please share links to any screenshot of the document where you recently needed this feature. This would help us better understand this request.Max supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Max commentedYou can do that! With no document open just adjust anything as you wish. In your case go to window/color/swatches and add colors manually or even load swatches from another indd. Next hit Alt+Cmd+6 to reveal the control panel and choose your desired default color.
If you try to set the default value (with no document open) for the spread borders, ID crashes.
