Just want to add that I think it would be helpful if we could control exactly how paragraph/character styles are exported. Like instead of being auto-generated based on style options, there could be a field in the paragraph style where you could input what css you want to be produced when this paragraph is exported. That way it would be easy to distinguish what features need to be kept in print vs what can be stripped/changed for epub.
For example, I might want a paragraph to have a certain amount of space above it in print, but I don't need as much space above it in the epub. Currently I would export and then have to manually change the amount of space in the css. Ideally, I could put the change directly in the paragraph style so when it exports that change would already be made.

This is happening to me too. Really slows down creating new documents—I'll set it to inches, type 6, and then go to the height to type in 9 and it changes it to 6 picas. It's been happening since moving to InDesign 2025.

To resolve this issue, please click on the 'Update page and section numbers' option (present in the book panel's hamburger menu) after opening any book(created in any previous version) for the first time in 20.0

This is happening to me as well. Every book document, new and old, starts from page 1, even if it is removed and then readded to the book. I have reset my preferences, and this is happening even with fresh default settings. I have also tried editing the preference option that says "Use Absolute Numbering," but all this does is change the pages panel to also show pages starting from 1. I also have the books set to continue numbering from the previous document, but InDesign seems to be ignoring that.
The only solution I have found is to manually change the first page of each chapter to start numbering at the page I know it should be. This is obviously not ideal because if any preceding chapters change their page count, the chapter will still retain the old page number.
This is a bug, and it needs to be fixed immediately as this makes InDesign useless for anything other than single documents.

Figured out what was happening. Apparently InDesign 2024 is incompatible with a Microsoft mouse. Solution is to download the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center (or update to the latest version). Click on "Wheel," then "Identify programs that don't scroll correctly..." and select InDesign.

It's actually happening with a USB mouse too. Zooming in/out is especially wonky. Trying to zoom in causes InDesign to zoom all the way out.

This has been happening to me too. I'm getting a little bit of scrolling but it doesn't work most of the time. I thought it was my mouse at first but every other app is working fine. InDesign 2024 is unusable without scrolling.

I know this is old, but posting in case it comes up in somebody's google search:
The problem is that html ignores blank spaces including blank lines, which is why the space disappears in the epub. Two ways to fix it:
1) Quick and dirty: Use a soft return (shift+enter) instead of a hard return (enter) to push the paragraph down.
2) Best practice: Add space between paragraphs using the paragraph style instead of hitting enter.
