Hi,
We have fixed this issue with 13.1 March release of InDesign. Please update to the latest version and try out the fix.-Aman
An error occurred while saving the comment Kelly Vaughn commentedI remember talking about this with an Adobe engineer a few years back. I think they told me to export the file as IDML and then open that and it should go away.My files are are old, inherited files that I keep repurposing for new projects. And I have thousands of them. I, too, have the problem where I can type only momentarily in the Notes field before it jumps away.
I face this problem every day. I've resorted to typing my note as live text, then converting it to a note. Likewise, when I need to edit the note, I convert it from a note to Live text, then back again when I need it to be a note. This is n't an ideal situation, because occasionally, not all the text gets selected when I go to turn it back into a note. Then a year or so later when I look at the file again, I'll see, "Note to Kelly...."
I don't recall this issue happening on files that are made fresh, rather than old files. With brand new files, bit the weird first character, as well as the jump-away behavior are gone.

An error occurred while saving the comment Kelly Vaughn commentedThis seems to be related to the font choice. The default font: Letter Gothic Std, always displays this way. I changed the font to another one and the first letter Xs went away. I then changed the font back to Letter Gothic Std and the Xs remained gone. But the behavior stayed in the Notes panel. It seems that the Notes Panel has now way of being connected to the font choice specified for the story editor. They should be connected.

To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.
If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

Adobe InDesign TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Kelly Vaughn commentedI am using Mac 10.13.4
An error occurred while saving the comment Kelly Vaughn commentedLately, there is no way to add anything to a library. Even doing it using the Libraries flyout menu causes inDesign to crash. The only way I can add items to the library is through InDesign 2015. Then I have to reopen the library in 2018 to use it in my current document.
An error occurred while saving the comment Kelly Vaughn commentedNow adding a library item to a regular library causes a crash. I try dragging and dropping, as well as using the flyout menu. Both cause ID to crash.
I'd give CC libraries a try, but there is usually a connection error to the Adobe server.

An error occurred while saving the comment Kelly Vaughn commentedSo you'd like a preference or checkbox to make file paths relative?
