No multicore, no gpu support this is RIDICULOUS
Okay hear me out, I know for a fact this has been brought up I know.
However in 2022 a multinational company doesn't support multicore and gpu performance for windows this is just insane, it's the biggest F U to the community.
How I'm supposed to work on anything if my performance is garbage with VERY FEW OBJECTS, now you might say ah yes just press typical performance or fast perfomance if your pc is struggling. I have a proper pc (i9 9900k, 32gb ram, rtx 2080) really if this gear STRUGGLES with TEXT editing I'm speachless, for the sake of keeping your customers loyal add a GPU SUPPORT FOR INDESIGN ON WINDOWS HOW YOU DONT HAVE IT????? why my performance is so bad only because you don't have gpu support in 2022?Okay hear me out, I know for a fact this has been brought up I know.

Acrobat freezes/crashes when exporting as PDF from InDesign
When we export PDFs with "View PDF after Exporting" checked, Acrobat sometimes freezes up and we need to force-quit it. InDesign also freezes. During the crashing process, the PDF is created normally. Our workaround is to uncheck that box, but that's not ideal because we've always had it on for 10+ years and are used to automatically reviewing the PDFs before sending them to clients, etc. We are saving to a NAS Drobo using AFP. Can this be fixed?

Linked Images Disappearing/ InDesign Files Opening as Read-Only
Good morning!
After my computer updated to Monterey 12.3.1, the linked images in InDesign files (indd) turn black or static or with colored stripes like bad reception on an old TV. The link panel did not show a broken link but I had to manually relink all the files. I've tried reinstalling InDesign and going back to an earlier version of InDesign. All to no avail.
A second problem that occurred is that InDesign files would only open as read only. When I tried to resave it said that someone had them checked out or I didn't have permissions to the file. I am not working off a server, but I am working off an external hard drive. I checked the permissions on the folders and everything is set read/write for me.
I'm stumped. :) I'm working on M1 iMac, OS 12.3.1 and InDesign 17.2.1

UI scaling window problems
There are numerous problems with the new UI Scaling Feature when it is set to any size other than the smallest. I've attached several screenshots and a screen recording.
Screenshot 1: New document window. Toolbars slightly overlap the buttons and the ruler.
Screenshot 2: On the right edge of the main window, there is a gap between it and the panels.
Screenshot 3: Bottom of the main window has a white bar along the bottom.
Screen recording: Panels that all collapsed down to an Icon or Icon/Name only don't pop up in the right position when you click on them.In all of these examples, the bigger the UI setting you pick, the bigger the problem becomes... bigger overlap, bigger gap, bigger white bar, etc etc.
The other major problem is that the UI scaling is also scaling the view of the contents in the main window. For example, a Letter-sized document at 100% fits completely in the main window on the lowest UI setting, but at any larger UI setting, the same document no longer fits in the window unless I zoom to fit.

High CPU use with version 17.1
This has already been posted for 17.0 by another user. I installed 17.1 yesterday, because I needed to open a specific file and compared to the 14.0.3 which I use all the time, the 17.1 uses 1/4 of CPU power after start while no document is opened and it actually does nothing. This remains for several minutes, then goes down to 0. The attached picture shows that both versions are running (no files open).

I have to double click to access menus, drop down doesn't work on one click
1 . I updated my Mac to Monterey v12.2 and then Indesign issues began. I can not one click on my navigation, I have to double click to access drop down menu and then the menu stays on the screen does not clear.
Also I cannot access sub-menus in the drop. ie: FILE > OPEN RECENT
First off I have to double click to access the FILE drop down menu and then when i scroll down to OPEN RECENT, i cannot access that menu
- When I have selected multiple objects and short key COPY or CUT... Indesign shuts down and error report pops up

Share for Review Unreliable
I love the share for review function, however it is proving too unreliable to be used in a professional setting.
Here are the issues that my team and I encountered on a regular basis:
Review comment window is blank Updating sharing link freezes program Review page in browser won't load (spinning circle of death) Document in browser glitches and jumps around when trying to navigateThese are pretty serious issues that need to be resolved. I like the innovation, but in order to make it part of our process, reliability is the most important aspect.

Hyperlink panel "go to destination" not linking to html with # to a specific id="anchor-1"
ID version 17.0
Hyperlink is to a url containing a # to anchor-1 in an html document. (Fig. 1)
When clicking the go to destination it should open to that particular id location in the html.
In the browser the # becomes %23 and the html document does not open, in fact it opens a pdf with a similar url. (Fig. 3)
Fortunately when creating a pdf the link does work correctly in the browser.
In v 14.0.1 it would open to the correct place in the html.

De-Stick Alt Key After Zoom
When I press and hold the ALT key (Windows) to zoom with the mouse wheel, it doesn't release the way a sticky key should - once finished with mouse wheel zooming, I have to tap the Alt key a -second- time to release it. Not doing this results in the menu bar becoming active. Example: Press and hold Alt and zoom with the wheel. Finish zooming and release the sticky alt key. Now Tap the letter W to enter Preview mode ... but instead of Preview Mode, InDesign will drop down the --W--indow Menu, tapping W again then drops down the --W--orkspace menu etc. This is a workflow killer.
Adobe has other sticky keys that muscle memories remember (space bar, etc..) so to expect a) the user to remember that this tool behaves -different- and b) the user now has to add -additional- key strokes makes for a bad user interface experience.
Thanks in advance for fixing this

InDesign Effects applied directly to Text do not update when the text is changed
Some effects that are applied directly to the text do not update when the text is changed. If the same effect is assigned to the text frame (object), this error does not occur. Switching to GPU Preview or GPU Acceleration on the Mac or turning off the same option has no effect on the error.
Windows 10 mit InDesign Version 16.2.1 x64, only a time delay is noticeable.
On Mac
Mac OS Catalina Version 10.15.7 mit InDesign 2021, 16.4
Mac OS Catalina Version 10.15.7 mit InDesign 2022, 17.0
the effect remains for the old text until you save the file and open it again.Mac OS Mojawe Version 10.14.6, InDesign CS6 - not CC, no Problems occur, effects are deactivated while changing text and applied new after editing.
The attached videos show the effect.

Thumbnails in Pages Panel are blank even though pages have content (Id 17.0, Mac Big Sur)
The thumbnails displayed in the Pages Panel show up blank even though there is content in the pages themselves. See attached. This is most likely a bug.

Shortcuts register/work without modifier key
You can enter one letter, number, and symbol to keyboard shortcuts for Style Options.
The characters you typed are not displayed, but starting with InDesign 2020(15), it will act as a shortcut.
This should be disabled.
Prior to InDesign 2019(14), registration did not work.

Separation preview ink percentages wrong
I just upgraded to the 2022 (v17) version of InDesign, and my separations preview percentages are blatantly wrong (e.g. what should have 200% ink coverage was showing up as 0% for every swatch). Even when it gave believable percentages of ink coverage, it still lagged significantly behind the 2021 (v16.4) version. My coworkers had the same issue, but when we reverted back to the prior version, we had no trouble.

Disable automatic sect-tags on PDF export
When exporting a tagged PDF, InDesign automatically creates Sect-Tags for each story. I would like to be able to disable this feature on export for the following reasons:
- As far as I know, they are of limited value for screen reader users. The content is usually already well structured by means of an appropriate heading structure.
- It is very difficult to integrate figures into a story in a semantically correct/meaningful way. When anchoring them in the text, they will be nested in p-tags, which is according to PDF/UA not correct semantically. Hence, I avoid creating stories and use the article panel for setting up the reading order. This makes the sect-tags very redundant though.
- Often, pre-edits of the tagging in Acrobat Pro are necessary. All those Sect-tags bloat up the tagging tree unnecessarily and obfuscate the actual tagging structure. I want to be able to see heading and p tags without expanding large amounts of Sect-tags.
For these reasons, I suggest to add a checkbox "Disable automatic creation of sect-tags" on export for interactive PDF.

Shift + Tab / Ctrl + Shift + Tab doesn't work properly with reordered Windows
Shift + Tab usually switches to the next open window/project. with Ctrl is switches to previous window.
That works so far.It doesn't work anymore though, as soon as you rearrange the order of the windows.
Say you have project A, Project B, Project C open, but you move the window from Project C between A and B
so now its: A, C, B
if I now want to switch from C to B I would click Shift + Tab. But instead to the obvious next Tab "project B" it switches STILL to A.
So Indesign constantly remembers the original order, no matter how you sort the tabs, which is kinda stupid. I think this should be fixed.
For instance this works as it should in Illustrator already.

InDesign 16.3.2 on Mac: with GPU, won't render images in frames with a fill applied
InDesign 2021 16.3.2
macOS Mojave 10.14.6 (18G9323)
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
MacBookPro10,1
Intel Core i7, 2.7 GHz
16 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (1536 MB VRAM)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (1 GB VRAM)
With "GPU Performance" enabled (or with "GPU Preview" on) images will not render if the containing frame has a fill applied. Note: InDesign reports that a compatible GPU and monitor are detected. Also, it doesn't matter whether "Animated zoom" is enabled or not. See screenshots 1–3.
With GPU Preview disabled (or with CPU Preview on) the images render correctly. See screenshots 4–5.

indesign export to pdf unusable for Thai
Basically all the diacritics are messed up, regardless of font used. The PDF looks fine but the text if copied from the PdF is garbled.
This is in 16.2.1 (2021). It was working in 2019.5 votes
