optical margin alignment
InDesign 19.0 (2024): Optical margin alignment does not work (well), contrary to the previous versions. The problem doesn not depend on a certain font, it is a general problem.

Indesign (Beta) only opens a copy and not the exact inddc, thus resulting to multiple inddc files instead of updating the original file.

Book-PDF pixelated
Hello Support Team,
I have been having an annoying InDesign issue for quite some time:
I have a total of four computers available (1x HomeOffce, 1x work, 2x from colleagues) on which InDesign is installed. In each case the same program version (version doesn't really matter in this case, but current on our systems is 19.0).
On ONE COMPUTER, since installing InDesign about 3/4 year ago, I have the problem that the PDF output of a book always produces pixelated graphics.
When I output single documents, the quality is correct, exclusively with the PDF output from a book it is bad! The quality of most graphics is about the same as the preview in InDesign. Just pixelated.
On the three other computers, on which I can log in, the problem does not occur, exclusively on this one!I have compared all settings with my colleagues (who do not have the problem), but everything seems to be the same. I have also copied the configuration from the HomeOffice computer, but without success.
My workaround:
I either let the colleagues export the PDF file, go to another computer in the company (if the respective colleague is smoking or otherwise not at his place) or I make the PDF file next time in the HomeOffice.
But as we get more and more laptops and the colleagues lock their devices or take them home, I'm slowly reaching the end of the workaraound ;-)Have already searched the internet more than once, but haven't really found a solution.
Please troubleshoot, thank you very much!
Greetings

When I publish a document online from Indesign by activating text search, the related drop-down menu that contains this command at the bottom right of the web page, does not open correctly on iPads, both using Safari and Chrome, while on Android tablets everything works correctly. I kindly ask you to fix this bug, thank you

InDesign 18.5 saving/exporting/packaging/importing location behavior
The way Indesign navigates folders has become very inconsistent and is creating a lot of extra work. For the most part, they are not defined by the files themselves nor InDesign (historically it has been one of those two).
Now it is defined by the specific tool which is taking a lot of time extra navigating when switching between multiple projects or clients, and makes it very easy for files to end up in the wrong places. Below is a list of the how each tool is navigating.File Save As:
a. New File: Last folder Indesign save to by any file
b. Existing indd file: The Files current location
c. Existing idml file: Last folder Indesign save to by any file (not it’s current location)Export:
a. Same as file
b. Once anything is exported in any folder not the same as the file, it exports to the file’s last export location
If copying a file: Save As resets it the export option to a. Duplicating with finder or packaging the file does not.
C. If a new file has never been saved, it will follow the export rules of the last file InDesign usedPackage: Last folder Indesign packaged to by any file.
Place: Last folder Indesign placed from by any file.
Relink: Last folder Indesign relinked from by any file
Data Merge Source: Uses export to define
Load Styles: Last folder Indesign loaded a style from
Import PDF Comments: Last folder Indesign attempted to place comments from, even if unsuccessful.I am using InDesign 18.5 / Ventura 13.5.2 but behaved this was on Big Sur too

Packaging with Include PDF (Print) selected doesn't properly render .ai images
I have never been able to successfully use the "Include PDF" option when packaging files. I usually package, then export the pdf using my presets, then combine the files in the finder because the pdfs never come out correctly. It seems the problem is only with how it renders ai files. Color mode doesn't matter. The same thing happens whether or not I choose High Quality Print, Press Quality, PDFx1a, etc. Any solutions for this yet? It has been the case since the "Include PDF" feature was first released. Example has exported pdf on the left, and package generated pdf on the right. Screenshots of preflights show the pdf exported using package files shows all .ai files are now low res vectors using exact same preset. Using Adobe Indesign 18.5 but have had this problem in every version since the "include pdf" feature was released.

A problem about converting right-to-left text to the newest version
Hello,
I have been using Indesign v18.5 and created a lot of documents for a book in Hebrew and Arabic.
My paragraph styles have the property "Character Direction: Default" which, of course, organized my text as RTL for Hebrew and Arabic, and LTR for English text.
After converting the documents to the newest version (v19.0), some (and only some) of the punctuation marks (such as ".", "!", "?") and even some of the spaces, were placed in a wrong manner: to the right side of the text, instead of being placed to the left of the text as they are supposed to be.I noticed that when I apply "Character Direction: Right-to-left" they get back to the right position, but I can't do that for all of the text, because I also have English text in the book. I also noticed that when I delete these punctuation marks and write them again the issue gets fixed for most of the cases. I can't do that manually because there are a lot of cases like that and I have over 30 documents.
I can't attach the Indesign document with the issue, so I am adding a screenshot of it. Let me know how I can provide more information or an indesign document with the issue.
Thanks,
Nadav

InDesign 2024 — Personal workspace won’t display automatically anymore
Until now, the personal workspace used to display automatically when opening the files.
Instead of the personal workspace, InDesign now displays the workspace Essentials.
Yesterday, I have been told by the Technical Support that this feature has been removed.
According to the information I have received, it is not possible anymore to choose the workspace that will be displayed.
This is absolute nonsense since it means:
1. a loss of time — particularly when working on multiple files;
2. a huge loss in the customization possibilities.PLEASE RESTORE THIS FEATURE!

RtoL languages/Phone number bug
I have a document that mixes mulitple languages and includes phone numbers in these paragraphs.
The RtoL languages (Arabic, Farsi, Urdu for example) is flipping the phone numbers the wrong direction in the text.I'm using Indesign 2024, version 19, and the World-Ready Paragraph composer.

Left toolbar missing Screen Mode selector
When I use InDesign some times the Screen Mode selector is missing from the left Toolbar. The only fix is to change the Workspace to another and then back to the original workspace. The first image is the missing Screen Mode selector and the second image is how it should look. This happens on macOS Monterey (12) and macOS Ventura (13) and in both InDesign 19.0 and the previous InDesign 18.5.

Selecting text in table inside Story Editor
InDesign 19.0
When I try to select text in a table using Story Editor, the mouse selects text starting one character to the right from where I click. This starts in the 2nd row of text. For each row below that, the selection starts one additional character to the right.
For example, I have a table with 5 rows and each row has the text 'ABCDEFG'. If I try and select the letter 'A' on row 2 by clicking at the start of the text and dragging to the right, the selected text will skip the letter 'A' and start the selection with the 2nd character, 'B'. If I try and do the same thing on row 5, the selection will jump to letter 'E', which coincidentally is the 5th character
This behavior occurs no matter how many rows and columns the table has. Selecting text outside of the Story Editor works fine.
Also, Story Editor is showing an extra paragraph in each row when there isn't one. Cannot delete this extra paragraph.
Bug was confirmed on another computer in our office running ID 19.0

CUSTOM URLS FOR ADOBE PUBLISH ONLINE BROCHURES
<> Custom URL, so it looks more professional to clients rather than it saying "Ind.Adobe" with loads of numbers following it.
<> While on the subject of the URL, it would be fantastic if we could customise the cover photo/thumbnail rather than it showing the adobe logo, I'd like to show my brands logo. It would be a great feature for when we send the link in WhatsApp

Broken/missing assignments can't be deleted or fixed
I've opened an InDesign document from earlier this year (created in an InDesign 2023 version). The document contains many incopy assignments - some of which are now missing. It will let me delete most of the missing assignments (no longer needed anyway) but a selection of them will not delete at all, and show the pencil icon that says 'in use by me' when i hover over, despite having literally just opened the file and not clicked into anything.
This happens when any of my team open the file (we use Microsoft Share Point to access files). I can't right click and 'Go to Content', or 'Unlink Content' because nothing happens, I can't use the trash can icon because again, nothing happens. When I right click and choose 'Add to Assignment' and create a new assignment (or add to existing assignment), i get an error message saying 'The story format is not compatible with this assignment.'
I am not sure how to fix this, if it is a bug? I just want to delete all the broken assignments because they are no longer needed. We are now using InDesign v19.0.
Thank you

PROBLEME [Lecture seule]

analytics
I've integrated a Google Analytics tag to my InDesign Publish Online document following the steps detailed in the recent announcement / setup guide.
My analytics tag successfully identifies views when I load the document on the indd.adobe.com site, but it does not capture activity when I embed the InDesign viewer on a third-party website.
By using "Inspect" in Chrome, I can see that the INDD embed includes code that references the correct Google Tag on third-party sites, but Analytics isn't registering the view – even after I click "Accept" in the cookie banner, and after I allow third-party cookies in my browser.
I have added the relevant domains to the cross-domain configuration in Google Analytics' web stream details too, but that hasn't made any difference.
To reiterate, the tag works for the document when viewed on indd.adobe.com, but not on third party websites.
Any suggestions?
