The numbered portion of a heading in its own frame cannot be included in conditional text
Windows 10 InDesign version 13.1 x64 (CC up-to-date)
I created a sequentially numbered head using bullets and numbering in Style editor. Placed the head in its own frame at the top of a page (# mark at the end of the head). Selected the head (variously using click-drag and 4-click) Only the directly entered text highlighted - not the numbered portion, not the # symbol. I applied a text condition. When the condition was made invisible, the directly-entered text disappeared as expected, but the numbered portion of the text ("Section 9:") did not. Numerous attempts to select the numbered portion…1 vote -
En Dashes turned into a Russian Cyrillic Small letter Yeru
On Feb. 19, 2018, I worked on a document in InDesign CC 13.0 (Mac). I saved the document and all was good. Yesterday, March 28, 2018, I made some edits to the same document using CC 13.1 (Mac). But when a co-worker reviewed it, they noticed that the En Dashes (Unicode: 2013) I had used as a Bullet character had turned into a Russian glyph (Cyrillic Small letter Yeru, Unicode: 044B).
The bulleted section of the document was not revised between Feb. 19th and yesterday. The edits I made were in other sections of the document. Nor did I change…

Table Footers Prevent Auto Row Creation
Normally, if a table with fewer body rows than will be needed if content gets pasted, body rows get created automatically. However, if there is a footer row, then the additional rows get created in the footer.
This behavior does not seem intentional since the automatically-created body rows seems more useful. A workaround can be to remove the footer row, then add it back after the contents have been pasted and the body rows created.1 vote -

finding font instance
Using the Find Font menu utility, I highlight the missing font then click Find Next, which many times does not work even if there are many instances of the font. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Very frustrating.

Hi,
I wanted to delete all page breaks (manual, odd, even) in an InDesign document with Grep:Find: [~P~L~E]+
Replace: \rThis query doesn't work, it finds nothing.
If I use one by one it's prefect. What' wrong?(Attached test-file)

Germandbls in all caps with Adobe Composer
This is to report that the "World-Ready Composers" and the regular "Composers" do not behave in sync concerning the Germandbls (upper case German sharp s) in all caps. More precise: The "World-Ready Composers" do it right, while the regular "Composers" do it wrong:
Using the latter and applying all caps, the germandbls is generally substituted by SS, which shouldn't be. Modern fonts leave the decision to the typographer whether a Germandbls or SS is applied. In any case the first choice should be the Germandbls.1 vote -
Font appearance issues in Id 2018
I have recently purchase a new Mac. Running High Sierra 10.13.2 and Id 2018. Any time I open a file with Helvetica in it the font is garbled. Is this one of the issues that people have been experiencing with the upgrade to High Sierra? How can this be fixed?
I can't downgrade my operating system as the computer is brand new and I need to use this computer for work. Any help would be much appreciated.

Texte disappear when replacing font by another using Find a font in the Texte menu
Using the command "Search for a font" in the "Text Menu" to replace a font (Times New Roman for example) by another (Adobe Garamond Pro for example), the texte disappear, it is erased if I valid "Replace All".
I have to verify it works for the first occurrences before to validate "Replace All" to be sure the bug will not occur.
This is very insecure if we don't verify and trust the command "eyes closed" !1 vote -
middle east defaults
Controlling defaults for ME options - doesn't work for cut/paste?
I'm using the ME edition of InDesign 2018. The majority of my work is exclusively left-to-right, so I've set all default options to those appropriate to English (UK) text. This works fine when I'm creating a text box with the text tool, but when I cut/paste text without having a cursor in a pre-existing text box, the automatically-created new text box always has "right-to-left text direction" selected in its Story options. Is there any way I can change this default?

Find Glyph uses character style set in the Text tab
It's not possible to set a character style in the Glyph tab of the Find/Change window. But if you set a character style in the Text tab, the Glyph tab uses that style to limit the search scope.
Steps to reproduce:
- Start a new document, add a character style. (Doesn't matter what formatting you add to the character style.)
- Place a text frame and enter 'xx'.
- Apply the character style you added in step 1 to the first x.
- Set the character style in the Find Format field of the Text tab of the Find/Change window.
- Go to the Glyph…
1 voteHi,
In step 4, are you setting the find format field to be the character style you have created in step step 1?
If yes, then InDesign will only find those “x” which have the character style same as in the find format field (=character style created in step 1 and applied to only first x)
https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/find-change.htmlPlease can you elaborate a little more on the steps.

Primary Text Frame auto flow does strange things
Auto text-flow suddenly produces this result while auto-adding new pages to fit the text-length.
Maybe it wants me to produce more "experimental books"… who knows.

cannot place XLSX table
I'm unable to place an Excel file/table. When I choose Place...select any Excel file (.xls or .xlsx) and check "Import Options":
- Options dialog appears, but no fields are selectable, except decimal places.
- Click OK, and I get nothing. No error message, and no content. If I place a file WITHOUT options, I get the content of the Excel NOT as a table, but as tab-delimited text. This is not acceptable, as the integrity of the table is lost when I "convert text to table." Where there are (supposed to be) empty cells, data from other cells appears where…

fonts appearing as distressed almost
Some fonts appear as distressed. Almost like there's a pattern overlay on them. It changes as you move the text box around on the screen. Doesn't export into pdf like this, only in active document (see blue text, I've included what appears in indesign and how it looks normally)

caps
Everytime I type a capital "I" all letters following are all CAPS. It only does it when I type that letter. Then after I select the text to change it to lower case the only way to get the cursor back in my control is to do a DESELECT ALL COMMAND. Otherwise the sentence stays selected and stuck. Another thing it does if not all caps is it changes to first letter in the entire sentence will be Capitalized like a title character style. My text is a set character style that I have set to be regular format, not…

Note strip content in cross references panel varies
- Indesign CC 2018
- Open a document with cross refs.
- When hovering with the mouse over a cross ref in the cross ref panel a note strip appears, showing some information about the page it points to and also the page of the source.
- On some cross refs it does not. There it shows the cross ref text. This seems to be due to the cross ref format being slightly different, but all pointing to level 3 headlines.
- See attached images adobeerror5.1.jpg (correct note strip) and adobeerror5.2.jpg (false note strip)
