InDesign produces 'failed to open the pdf file' error when importing pdf with dotted lines
Using InDesign v13.1 on a MacBook Air (12 inch, 2017) running iOS 10.13, importing a .pdf generated using attached MS Powerpoint file LA02examplerunFigure.pptx resulted in 'failed to open the pdf file' error if the lines added to the graphic are dotted lines as shown (see attachment). Changing these lines to solid lines before exporting to .pdf solved this (see 'LA02examplerunFigure(noDotted).pptx). Upon experimentation, addition of any dotted line to the graphic in Powerpoint results in this error when the file is exported to a .pdf and imported to InDesign.

Table cells tagged as form fields do not get tagged when using the Articles panel in an accessible PDF file.
If you convert a table cell to a graphic cell and then make it an interactive form field, if you use the Articles panel to control the order, the form fields do not get tagged.
1.) Create a table
2.) Select a cell and choose Table > Convert to Graphic Cell
3.) Open the articles panel and drag the frame containing the table to the Articles panel to create a new article.
4.) Enable "Use for Reading order in tagged PDF" from the Articles panel menu.
5.) Export to interactive PDF with tags enabled.Result: If you open the PDF…

Bicubic Downsampling artifacts
When an image is exported to PDF with Bicubic Downsampling selected, the interpolation creates a a column of pixels which seem to be duplicated from the column immediately preceding it. This isn't very noticeable on full images, but on specific cases, like the round circle attached, it creates an unsightly "bump out" that alters the shape of the circle.
This does not occur if Average Downsampling is selected, so that's the immediate solution to the problem, but maybe the ID team needs to look at how Bicubic Downsampling is applied and if there's any way to improve this interpolation.

PDF from Indesign 18.5 document that has placed .indd files fails to RIP on EFI Fiery RIPs
I have a file which is a page of placed indd files to make up a label sheet.
Since updating from 18.3 to 18.5 this file and other similar files fail to RIP on two different (one xerox and one konica) EFI fiery systems.
Downgrading back to 18.3 fixes the issue.

InDesign 2022 PDF Export Failure with macOS Monterey
Since updating to macOS Monterey v. 12.3.1, InDesign (V 17.2) will frequently fail to export a PDF to a data server. I will attempt to export, and it will fail, but when I export to the downloads folder, it works just fine. That issue also extends to when I create an imposed job using the plug-in HP SmartStream. The temporary file will load on the server, but once SmartStream completes, it will disappear. Exporting to the downloads folder works for that too. There's no rhyme or reason as to when it happens, and I never had this issue before updating…

Disable automatic sect-tags on PDF export
When exporting a tagged PDF, InDesign automatically creates Sect-Tags for each story. I would like to be able to disable this feature on export for the following reasons:
- As far as I know, they are of limited value for screen reader users. The content is usually already well structured by means of an appropriate heading structure.
- It is very difficult to integrate figures into a story in a semantically correct/meaningful way. When anchoring them in the text, they will be nested in p-tags, which is according to PDF/UA not correct semantically. Hence, I avoid creating stories and use the article…

PDF issue with WorkSans variable font
I'm getting a strange issue with the WorkSans static variable font when exporting a PDF. The font is from Google Fonts -- https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Work+Sans. The weight in the attached example is WorkSans Black. A strange overlap issue is happening in the crossbar of the A. The issue only seems to be occurring in that letterform. The only way I can seem to resolve this is by converting the font to outlines in InDesign, which is not ideal.

export to PDF from latest InDesign 2020 results in pixelated PNG or JPG images
Upgrading from 15.0 to 15.1 versions of InDesign CC breaks PDF exporting of PNG or JPG images. Images now appear pixelated and low res no matter how high the original resolution of the image is, even when exported at 300 dpi (Print Quality settings). PNG and JPG images are flat with no transparency.

Just installed InDesign CC 2020 and I cannot export to the recent folders. The same folder appears no matter which recent place I choose. I don't even remember saving anything to the folder that shows up.
See what is happening here. Any help would be great so I don't have to navigate through a million folders to save and export my work.

Accessibility and data merge
Windows 10, ID 14.0.2 (2019), Acrobat Pro DC 2019.012.20036.
Using Data Merge to create many pages of text from a large Excel file. Each row produces two pages. I have set up all the tags, reading order, bookmarks etc for the file but they are not reproduced for subsequent pages. When testing in Acrobat, the screen reader only reads the first two pages. There are no tags or bookmarks for subsequent pages. Can this be resolved?4 votes -
Do not tag numbered headings as a list item
Unfortunately, the “Tagging Export” option within the paragraph style options getting ignored if the numbering options in the section “Bullets and Numbering” are set as well. Therefore, it’s not possible to use automatically numbered headings and getting a correct tagging structure. On the other hand it’s a good thing that lists are automatically tagged as a list. However, it should not override the export tag a user defined.
Please take that accessibility issue seriously and fix it as soon as possible.

Selecting 'No language' from styles advanced options really exports the tag to EN in PDF
When you have a document with multiple languages and the main language isn't available in InDesign's presets, ie the document is mainly in Kirundi or Samoan and there are some English phrases, a user should be able to select 'No language' from the style's advanced options. Instead, 'No language' will export as EN and the tag in the PDF will have EN listed as the language in the tag's properties. This is problematic because the tag's language will override the document's language properties. This is a clear failure of WCAG SC 3.1.2 (language of parts).
A screen reader won't be…

PDF Export causes Acrobat to crash
I am having trouble exporting InDesign files to PDF.
This is what I'm seeing:
Exporting PDFs from InDesign works fine if no PDF is open. If you have a PDF already open or are exporting a 2nd PDF with the first still open it crashes Adobe.I have updated Windows to a later version, checked drivers, the event viewer logs. I looked for similar issues online, repaired Acrobat from Control panel and from within the app.
Please share any advice.

InDesign CC2019 - faux bold text issue when exporting pdf.
Only the pages with text+jpg are exported properly.
The pages with any other image type with some transparency, i.e. psd, ai, even png, have bold text after exporting to pdf. It's an old issue, coming back every now and then in many InDesign editions in the past. So we all should know how to deal with it, shouldn't we? Well, here is the rub. The trick with the text placed on a separate layer on the top doesn't work anymore. Nothing works, actually. It's a major bug. A reason to downgrade to the last correct version. I needed to export…

InDesign 2019 Begins failing to export PDFs after short period of operating
InDesign 2019 | Mac OS Mojave
After a short period of time InDesign Fails anytime I try to export a PDF. I get the Error notification and just a Failed to export message. Restarting InDesign does not fix this, however if I restart my entire machine (enormous, frustrating pain in my workflow) it resume saving PDFs for a short period of time and them begin failing again until the next restart.
No other Software is having this issue, Adobe or otherwise.
