Smart guides not working at all
Snap to grid and smart guides or any function where cursor automatically snaps to edge, corner, or center point is not working. I am currently using version 16.0. I have restarted the program 5 times. All of these features are check marked and turned on despite the features not working at all.
I will not work on my project because of this issue. I need to rely on the precise support of smart guides and snap to guides in order to do what I have to do. I'm very disappointed with this bug and upset I'm set back so much…

save as file name bug
Suddenly, when saving a file, the Mac interface highlights the entire document name AND file extension. The software has never done this, why the annoying change? Designers often save version numbers, so now it's not as quick to hit the right arrow key, change the version # at the end of the file, then save. The new way it highlights the file name doesnt make sense, because nobody would want to affect the file extension when renaming a file.

Adobe InDesign (Build 15.0.3) - Italian UI Translation issue
Good morning,
I have found a (severe) translation bug in the InDesign 15.0.3 Italian User Interface,
In the dialog "Text Frame Column Rule Options", in Italian UI "Opzioni regola colonna frame di testo", of "Object Styles" the English term "Rule/Rules" has been erroneously translated as "Regola/Regole" instead of "Filetto/Filetti".
Thank you for amending it in a future CU, as it is really misleading.

Correct UI Resolution for 4K Screens
I have a 4K laptop (Dell XPS 15"), and the UI is just too small. Not small as in "I wish it was bigger", but rather "It is impossible to interact with the UI".
From scrolling through forums and such, it seems that this problem exists since 2014 or so, when 4K screens where a rare sighting.
But now these screens are becoming more popular, and the fact that they aren't supported by InDesign is pretty absurd. Especially when other programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier etc.) work completely fine.I've seen suggestions for workarounds that have to do with setting the…

Needing a smaller swatches panel (minimum 1 line, not 2 lines)
Context : On most of my documents, with few but very distinct colors, I'll often switch to "big thumbnails". It's easy to distinguish a color from a lighter or darker version.
But then, when the panel could displays two lines of swatches, I would only need one (see linked file), freeing a lot of screen space.
Except the minimum size of that panel doesn't go under 2 lines, when 1 would be enough.

Change font without changing style
Assume that I have selected some text which contains instances of bold, italic, or other "styles" (not INDD "styles," but variations of a typeface within a specific font family).
In previous versions of InDesign, I used to be able to change the typeface of the selected text, and maintain all instances of bold, italic, etc. In newer versions of InDesign, this is only possible when I navigate to the new font family by scrolling through the menu; when I search for a font family, I am presented with only the specific members of the family, not the family itself. This…

Wrong menu selection launched from menu bar
Unlike the issue explained by another user below, my main menu bar selection opens correctly but the item selected from the main list is not launched. Instead, a random command is used. Example: choosing 'Export...' from File menu launches the Print Booklet dialog box. The problem happens randomly about every week or so. The only solution I've found is relaunching InDesign.
I'm attaching 3 videos of the problem.

Second screen panels don't appear automatically
As part of my custom workspace, I have certain panels set up to appear on a second screen.
Since updating to Indesign CC 2019, no panels on my second screen appear by default when opening InDesign. Instead, I have to go to the Window drop down and manually open one of the panels assigned to the second screen, which then brings up all the second screen panels.

EPUB Interactivity panel resizes
In the release version of InDesign CC 2018, when you resize the EIP panel, then close it or make it part of a workspace, it should open at the same size you left it.
In CC 2018, it opens in the size you last left it, but immediately snaps to a very small size, forcing you to resize it EVERY time.
This makes working with interactive features very cumbersome. Please fix! Thank you.

When opening two documents as tabbed one window group, ID does not auto-fit the resulting taller window onto full screen
Make adding the additional document tab fit the resulting tabbed window into the same space the old one without tabs occupied.

Panel flyout menus do not open on external displays/expanded desktops — they open only on primary display
I keep all of my tool palettes on a secondary monitor on Mac OS (now Sonoma) running the latest version of InDesign.
None of the flyout menus will open when the tool palettes are on a secondary display. However, I find if I drag the tool palette over to my Primary display, the flyout menus work again (until I drag them back to the external display).

Data merge panel blank
Data Merge WAS failing to display data field placeholders in either existing documents or new ones. I'm getting a completely Data Merge blank panel when importing a new source file, and when opening an existing document with a linked file, I was only seeing a preview of one of the records.
This persisted through a number of workspace configurations (most including a second monitor) until I broke the Data Merge panel off from the others, and cycled through the panel size presets (the up/down chevrons to the left of the panel title) - only once returned to 'standard' size did…5 votes -
UI scaling window problems
There are numerous problems with the new UI Scaling Feature when it is set to any size other than the smallest. I've attached several screenshots and a screen recording.
Screenshot 1: New document window. Toolbars slightly overlap the buttons and the ruler.
Screenshot 2: On the right edge of the main window, there is a gap between it and the panels.
Screenshot 3: Bottom of the main window has a white bar along the bottom.
Screen recording: Panels that all collapsed down to an Icon or Icon/Name only don't pop up in the right position when you click on them.…

FIle extension should NOT be highlighted in the Save window.
FIle extension should NOT be highlighted in the Save window.
This didn't use to happen, but all the adobe apps has started doing this from 2 or 3 updates ago.
PLEASE REVERT. There's no good reason for the file extension to be highlighted.

CMD+O (Open File Dialog) Doesn't work after new 15.0 and 15.0.2 releases.
CMD+O no longer opens the "Open File Dialog" upon first entering InDesign after launch. Once you open a file thru the Menu, CMD+O starts working properly.
This was an issue in a previous version release, and now it has turned up again in this latest release.

Text frame rules dialog
To Adobe:
do you find the color drop-down in the insert column rules dialog wide enough?
The whole contour group box is not perfectly arranged...

sample buttons and forms
The 'Sample buttons and forms' window automatically pops up when I start InDesign. Indesign starts with the workspace 'Start'. I resetted my workspace and the window still was there. Then I removed the window, saved my workspace again and it seems to be solved.
I am not the only one with this problem:
