[ID-4256474]InDesign 2025 removes all PDF export setting files with double-byte and accented characters from InDesign 2024
During the installation of InDesign 2025, all .joboptions files with PDF export settings were removed, even in the older version 2024! This is absurd!
The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2025(v20.0.1.032). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

It is related to accented characters. We live in the year 2024, Unicode is here for decades, the humans did reach Moon and Mars, but Adobe cannot handle "ó" in a file name. Funny.
Just rename your .joboption files with basic ASCII letters and it will work again. I hope you have backup of your files.

Since InDesign 2025 removed all PDF export setting files from InDesign 2024 after the update, it also wouldn't keep new PDF export presets.

Do you have any news of where our prefs, plugins and scripts are? -

Welcome in the year 1990! Deleting user files just because they contain "á" in file name is ridiculous. Have you ever heard of Unicode? I’ve been using the same files for more than a decade in various versions of InDesign. Why CC2025 does not support it?
Workaround to this bug: rename all .joboption files and only use basic ASCII characters.

I am having the same issue. InDesign updated itself two days ago (from 2024 to 2025) and I lost all of my PDF Presets. I have tried to reload them as well as create new ones. Each time I have done this they disappear after I close out of an open document. I was lucky to have some of my presets saved before it automatically updated, however, I lost the rest and cannot retrieve them. I use PDF Presets on a daily basis, several times a day, so to have to manually input this for every file is tedious. Can this please be addressed? Thank you.

Hi Filip,
Thanks for creating this thread and bringing this issue to our notice. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused with this issue. We are able to recreate the issue internally and currently investigating the behavior observed on Mac platform with double-byte and accented characters.
Currently we do not any workaround which is available for this issue and hence we request users having PDF export setting preset names containing double-byte or accented characters to take backup of all the .joboptions files present under the folder location:
"/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings".We will surely keep this thread once the fix is made available as part of next release.
Have a pleasant day!
Regards,
Nayan

It looks like it keeps .joboption files with ASCII only characters. Files containing accented characters, even “á”, gets deleted everytime CS2025 is installed.
