Undo Not Working properly in InDesign 2020
InDesign CC 2020 Undo goes back to last saved version. It does not go back one step with Command-Z. Therefore, I lose all edits made since last save. It also crashes frequently
The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – that is, InDesign 15.0.2.
Please update your InDesign application to get this fix.

Same here. Undo sometimes not clickable, undo mostly jumps back to last saved version. Causes a lot of wasted time. Going back to ID2019

This happens an awful lot often. In the latest 2 updates of Indesign 2020, when trying to undo, the program does the undo a lot steps backwards at once (to the point of the last save). The option to step forward is disabled at this point and after, the program usually crashes. I updated InDesign just today but this bug did not get fixed. And this is such a pain **********! Please, fix this, we would be much grateful. It is rather impossible to do some work this way as long as you are used to do the undo so often. Only solution I have now is to save like every 20 seconds. Please, end this suffering. Thank you.

Adding my voice to the chorus of unhappy designers... Undo = revert to last saved version. This is a HUGE time waster. One little slip of the Ctrl+Z to fix a slight adjustment turns into loosing a whole page for work. REDO does nothing to help.

Afaik there's no fix yet. For me using ID2019 instead is the only way to be aware of this.

Hi there,
Is there any fix here. This is a massive issue as it causes me to lose countless hours of work by reverting to last document...

Same problem as everyone. Indesign 2020 running on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.1. Lots of time wasted and so frustrating. C'mon Adobe.

Same problem encountered here. The problem appeared to go away for a week so I thought it was an anomaly. Unfortunately it's back & right when I have a tight deadline :-(

I am having the same issue, it began yesterday with me losing several hours of work (much of it I know I saved). I started again today and have been saving after inserting a paragraph or photo, and command-z has caused me to lose everything, including saved items.
I noticed at the same time that the text box is different, with a transparent line that moves with the amount of text I have in the box. I also started having issues with text wrap not working around pics anymore. I would have to use command-b to ignore text wrap, then go back in to turn it off—this was the only way to get text to wrap around a photo.
Please contact me if I can provide further information! -

Hi everyone,
I am encountering the exact same issue and it is driving me insane.
I lost hours of work by chunks of 10'! I can't decently CMD+S after every single action I take!I am encountering the issue using InDesign 2020 (15.0) on MacOS Catalina (10.15.1). It is worth noting that the file that I am working on now is absolutely not impacted when using InDesign 2020 on Windows 7. Which leads me to think that it isn't file related and that the issue is limited to MacOS.
Can we please -please!?- get a fix and update regarding this issue?

I've been having same issue, on Mac Mojave. I haven't seen that it starts after a period of time, but I've noticed that when copy/pasting between text frames into different styles (cmd+shift+v), and especially when those text frames are contiguous, that the glitchiness starts. For me, it's not a real save point that it reverts back to, but I think it's going back to the last autosave that Indesign does. The further I go, it always goes back to that same point, and if I don't quit and restart, eventually I'm unable to save the document and must force quit, and Indesign only autorecovers up to that last sticking point.
Additionally, having the same problem with resizing text that spans multiple frames.
I haven't had this issue until the last update. Should probably mention that I work with GDrivestream for most of my documents.

Same here.
- Undo seems to revert the file. Lost hours of work already!
- Unable to save file
Mojave 10.14.5 InDesign 2020
Happens randomly, not able to replicate this. Help wanted! -

I'm having the same issue. MacOS Mojave 10.14.6. This starts happening seemingly at random. I can work fine on a file for three days, then suddenly boom. Last time it happened shortly after saving a file under a different name, but I can't tell yet if that's a pattern.
This has already cost me several hours of work.

Program was working fine until my most recent file. Undo simply reverts back to last saved state.

This sounds an aweful lot like this (unsolved) problem here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/indesign-cc-won-t-save-my-files/td-p/5167203
or here:
https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/32243044-i-lost-all-save-save-as-undo-functionality-everUndo/Save either becomes unavailable or (that seems new) reverts back to the last saved version. There do not seem to be specific steps to reproduce this behaviour. A colleague of mine may work a day on a variety of documents without ever running into problems, the next day it will hit eyery other minute. Same docs, same machine (macOS 10.14.6). 2020 docs as well as docs that have originally been created with older versions of InDesign. No third party peripherals. All docs are saved locally, no NAS, no server.
Additional weird behaviour, as reported by Alksei Koren below: Resizing text frames will not show until the document is saved or you hit Alt-Cmd-C (see comment from Thorsten Rösch-Allgeier). No clue if related to the Undo/Redo/Save-problem, however it happens to my colleague a lot, and if it happens, Undo/Redo/Save problem often shows, too.
I myself only ran into problems only once, when Undo was suddenly greyed out for no apparent reason. However, Save was still available and anything I did from there was undo/redoable again.

Using Indesign 2020, on Win 10 desktop, 64bit/45GB Ram. Undo malfunctiioning. This is only happening in Indesign, not in other programs in the CC suite. Symptom is a freeze that can last about 30 seconds in which I can do nothing and have to wait it out. I work in Book layout and production and this things is a real hassle. . I don't appear to lose data. Things appear to come right, but only after long lag. Having to avoid redo altogether. No point in sending a file. I notice if the file is very small (eg one new A4 doc of one page, the undo seems to work more often. Clue might be that I am working on long docs eg 300 - 400 pages and some of these have been converted by Indesign to latest versions. Might be something there? Thhanks

I have the same issue, on macOS Catalina, 10.15.1 (19B88).
it happens randomly, but I wasn't sure what it was until I read this post. I thought it just randomly crashes and reverts back to last saved version. Right now I am just trying to save after every change, but then, I can't really undo anything.
when I change something I don't even have Undo, Redo as available to choose. They are grayed out. I notice something weird happening, like text box frame is resized but the text inside of the text frame stays the same. And undo doesn't work at all...
I would press Cmd + Z and suddenly everything reverts back, but in some cases it doesn't work at all... -

Hi Ravi,
It happens randomly. I'm on Mac OS 10.13.6, but my colleagues are having the same issue with newer Mac OS's -
