[ID-4218137]Thumb nail of indesign saved files not appearing after 2019 to 2020 update
Can anyone help me with this issue, since I update to the 2020 InDesign from 2019 all my icons in saved files don't show the InDesign thumbnail is this a bug or just me being dumb?
note -
-Files still open as normal.
-Even if I save them in 2020 formate still no icons
-Other adobe programs since update show Icons.
Please let us know if the below-mentioned workaround works for you:
- Try restarting your Windows machine.
- Use the “Restart” option and NOT “Shutdown”.

This is continuing to be a very frustrating bug. Certainly, if you can design an application as complex as InDesign, you can make a tiny icon appear properly in front of the file name? Adobe please get working on this.

I also have this problem when I moved to 15.1.2 version. Or have to save as an in design mark up document - why?

In the latest version on InDesign on cloud, the InDesign icon is missing when you save the file as document or template.
If you save as IDML, then the icon is purple. If save as Document the windows icon is blank white. -

Has there been an update to this yet please as my team are still not seeing the images - just a generic AI symbol. This really slows down work time.

Terrible solution Adobe! Everyone is having this problem and simply refreshing the folder is not the answer obviously! Icons for all files are missing!

Why are my file icons looking like this? Is this happening to anyone else and is this a problem ? Kind of new at INDD...

March 11, 2020 11 am. Updated my Indesign, now it takes many attempts and time to select text and anything else. I hate these ******** updates. They literally ****** Indesign processing.

Your "workaround" is barely an effort.
I have this issue for 5 months. You really think I did not refresh any of the folders? Or that I did not launch InDesign since then? I use InDesign for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. -

Both workarounds don't help me. The icon is still not showing up.

This is happening to me as well and also my files are not opening with the updated versions.

This was also a problem on 2019 version where the IDD icon got replaced with the idml icon.
Since there is no discernable improvement in v2020 I'm going back to v2019 til you sort it out.It may seem trifling, but I need to know what sort of file I am opening.

I'm getting the same thing with mine (InDesign 15.0 x64 on Windows 10 Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.476)) after upgrading this morning.

I'm having an identical issue after upgrading to the newest InDesign this morning.
Currently running InDesign 15.0 x64 on Windows 10 Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.476).

I'm running InDesign 15.0 x64 on Windows 10 Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.476).
I upgraded to the new version of InDesign this morning and all of my INDD and IDML file icons have been replaced with blank, white, default icons. When I change the "Opens with:" to another software in Properties, that software's file icon pops up for the file just fine (this even works for older versions of InDesign). When I revert it to "Adobe InDesign 2020" it pops back to the default white icons.
So far I have tried restarting InDesign, restarting my computer, and rebuilding my icon cache in Windows 10. Nothing has worked.
All other file associations seem to work fine and my INDD and IDML files open just fine in InDesign and can be edited and saved. They just show with blank, default icons when I view them in the OS.

Windows 7 x64 (6.1, compilation 7061)
Indesign CC 15.0 x64File icons displaying as basic blanks after last update.
I already tried re-installation from scratch and deleting user icon catch.
This problem happens since 2005....

Windows file icons disappear after update (14.0.2 x64) resulting in blank white icons, but files are still associated with InDesign.
