Multiple listings of same font in Find Font menu

There are multiple listings of the same font in the Find Font menu in CC2019. All information is the same, all applied characters are the same, but there is odd behavior.

--FileACC2019WithDocumentsfontsfolder.png shows double listing of Trade Gothic LT Pro Roman.

--FileACC2019WithoutDocumentfontsfolder.png (when I take away access to Document fonts folder, no other changes), one instance switches to "Regular" instead of "Roman"

--FileACC2017WithDocumentfontsfolder.png shows what happens with I open this file in CC2017 (no double listing)

--FileACC2017WithoutDocumentfontsfolder.png (Document fonts folder hidden) shows what happens with I open this file in CC2017 (no double listing)

I process large volumes of files; this is not an isolated incident nor a corrupted file. Packaging results in InDesign only grabbing the single correct font file, so that isn't broken. This behavior with Find Font is seemingly new to CC2019 (I'm working on 14.0.2). The multiple listing of same font, variation of font name when fonts enabled/disabled, and Find Font showing fonts missing that aren't because of what seems to be a name issue in Find Font. Has something changed in the way that InDesign reads fonts/accesses Document fonts folders?

    I am having the same issue, Adobe seems to have had the issue under review for 2 years, are they any closer to finding a solution?

    I've found a workaround solution. It seem there's a "corruption" in the Style aspect in the paragraph styles.
    1. Select all duplicate occurrences the font in the find font panel. Find and replace it with the same font and style. This may or may not solve the issue.
    2. Check the preflight panel for overrides that involve the offending font. Double clicking will take you to that font.
    3. Go into the paragraph style or character panel - even though it looks fine - reselect the style (Regular for Regular, Roman for Roman) this tends to fix the problem. At least it did for me.
    Double check the font usage in the find font panel. At this point it's usually fixed. I have had some instances that persist and I'm trying to figure those out. Will report back if I find the solution.

    So the only solution I found to this is that you need to save as/export the original text document you are flowing in as a .txt or a .rtf. Then reflow the new document into indesign and the multiple font issue will not be there any more. Somehow Word is storing all of this font info in it's code and messing it up for everyone.

    Hope this helps. It has resolved the issue for me in every case so far. I opened the original .docx in Apples TextEdit app and started a new document, copied and pasted the text from the .docx into the new document window and said it as .rtf.

    I imported that into Indesign and the issue was resolved.

    There is no resolution to this? I have this issue a, the time. Typically it will only have duplicates in the 20 range which I am happy to manually change. But a recent document it has over 500. I fiddled it down to 399 before I lost my marbles and thought there must be some solution around this. Nothing helped. I even tried the Search and replace feature and it found only 1 instance of the font... help pls. This seems like a simple enough issue to fix.

    Hello,
    I'm experiencing the same issue as I'm creating a book to upload on Blurb. I receive an error message that a font is missing when it's actually listed twice in Find Font. Has a solution been found yet?

    Hi I am also facing a big problem with this, as multiple fonts of same name are remaining in my docs, and I am now having to make them accessible. It leads to a very messy accessibility report in Acrobat. And now I need to repeat the process on nearly 160 similar docs.

    Have also noticed this. Same font listed twice for same styles, characters, pages and style counts. Using Extensis Universal Type Client 7.0.3. we have confirmed that the correct font is actually loaded and no other version exists in system. This bug causes the Extensis duplicate font dialog to display with no actual font replacement options

    I have the same issue. I am a book designer and regularly check the "find font" box in order to make sure there are not spurious fonts in the document. It will often list the same font multiple times. I have found I can *sometimes* make it go away by selecting all the instances of the duplicate name and changing them to a single instance. (See attached.) But this doesn't always work . . .

    I've seen the same thing, where Find Font sometimes doubles, triples, quadruples, or quintuples the listing for the same font. Every characteristic in the Info section is exactly the same. It happens whether or not the fonts are loaded. I don't know whether I can trust Find Font in CC 2019.
