[ID-4210967]Problem with changing the cursor to text
Hello. After running the latest version of InDesign CC 2019 v. 14.0, I have a problem with changing the cursor to text. It takes about 50 seconds. This happens each time you launch InDesign.
Hello All,
Thank you for your patience all this while.
This issue is now fixed in the latest update (Id 14.0.1) of InDesign CC.
If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
Once the update button is shown against InDesign CC, click on the button to update your InDesign to Id 14.0.1 for the fix of the issue.
Do let us know in the comments, if you face any problem with the new update.
List of fixed issues can be found at: helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/fixed-issues.html
Regards,

Same here. Hangs when trying to change text for the first time in a document when opened or new. Takes about a minute and then comes right, then if I go into Character it hangs again for another minute.
Windows 10. InDesign up-to-date.

I too am having this exact same issue on a Windows 10 computer. Previous version was fine so will have to roll back if no update is forthcoming. Spec of PC is an i7 8700K with 32gb of ram and Nvidia Quadro P2000.

Me too and it makes my whole program crash. This is ridiculous, I have had to reinstall previous version to get work done.

Me too. Using the text tool causes an ongoing freeze issue which is unworkable after updating to the latest version of CC InDesign. Have to crash the program and re-start to work on other things. PLEASE FIX THIS BUG URGENTLY!

After updating to InDesign CC2019, I notice there is an intermittent lag/freeze in the application. I'm experiencing this on two different Windows 10 computers, both highly capable with 16+GB of RAM, video, hard drive space, etc.
When working with any file, after a bit of time, the program simply becomes unresponsive. This is generally when working with the text tool, I believe. After waiting about 30-60 seconds, the program comes back to life.

I also had this problem. Disabling the controlpanel (ctrl-alt-6) fixed it. Opening the font panel is still very slow though.

Same issue after updating to v14.0 x64....15-20 second delay when selecting the Text tool. Also happens when I select the Character options dialog box. This issue is not related to any specific file, occurs with ALL files. FIX THIS

Whenever I click on a text box or the character options for the first time in a document, InDesign freezes up for a good 20-30 seconds. Sometimes I'm not sure if it's the bug that will eventually wake up or if it's an actual crash. Has anyone else been having this problem?

Using the latest version 14.0.
Program opens fine. I can select different items in document, open menus, etc.
When I double-click into a text document, the whole program freezes. Text cursor stays and I can no longer select anything or close the program. I have restarted all adobe programs, restarted the computer and same result.I expect to be able to edit the text and continue editing my document.
I cannot use 2019 at all. I have reverted to 2018. -

I have this issue with all documents upon startup/open and text selection. Sometimes it happens just once, and in some cases it happens a few times during the day.
