1. Export or Save dialog box partially hangs if you go to another app's window.

   When exporting to PDF or saving, if you go to another app or Finder window while the dialog box is open, it partially hangs. For example, if you've called up the Export box then hop over to Finder to verify the name/location of the folder to which you want to export, then go back to ID to complete the export. Everything that is normally blue ("save" "export," the name of the file, etc.), turns gray. You can click on it but nothing happens. You have to either cancel and close/reopen the document, or if you have unsaved changes, it hangs in the loop of "save changes" but you cannot click on any of the options (save, cancel, don't save). If you are lucky, you can keep navigating/clicking to get out of the hung loop. If not, you have to do a Force Quit.

   System specs: Mac Sonoma 14.2.1, InDesign CC 19.1

2. find/replace font dialog box freezes InDesign program

4. Crash when exporting to pdf - WHEN IS THIS GETTING FIXED

   So I've had this issue now for over five years and still nothing has been fixed despite me sinking thousands of pounds in subscription fees to this steaming pile of an app. We do lots of presentations that have other indesign files as links and we are constantly getting crashes when we export to pdf - I've been on with adobe with this and they insist it's corrupt files that cause this, yet when I proved to them that it wasn't they just stopped replying to them - great customer service. The crash can simply happen when adding or deleting pages then exporting, plus you can usually pdf things in two halves, proving that it's not corrupt files causing it. I've even packaged the exact same files to adobe, one with added pages, one with out and... silence.

5. InDesign crashes when I try to change styles with the preview box selected.

   I am running InDesign 19.0.1 x 64 on a Windows 10 machine

   When I try to edit a paragraph style that includes bullet points, and with the Preview box checked, my computer crashes. As you can see in the screen capture video, it is an intermittent issue, but InDesign crashes the majority of times I am trying to edit the bullet paragraph styles. It also happens when I try to change the Anchored Object Options in my Object Styles panel.

6. Montserrat Font errors

   The Montserrat font is not displaying correctly in the program, I exported a page to see if it is just a display issue but it is not, the font is still displaying incorrectly even when exporting the file, I checked in Illustrator but it is displaying normally, fix this problem please. It even stuck when I was doing my typography tests, specially with the Bold style

7. InDesign crashes when restoring a spread/page that contains a selected table with an xml tag

8. New document

   When I want to create a new document via the "File" > "New" dialog box, a document setting appears to create a document. The entire program remains stuck. I can then force close In-Design and restart it. As a result, open files are lost. To create a new document I can only open an existing document and save it again as "save as",

11. InDesign 19.0.1 Crashes When Exporting Stories to InCopy

    I have just set up a new MacBook Pro running InDesign 19.0.1 on Sonoma (pre-installed). Every time I attempt to export .icml stories from a layout file to my SMB Synology share, the file crashes and InDesign quits. When a co-worker on Monterey does the same thing with the same file, the .icml stories export normally.

    I have tried exporting individual text frames rather than "export all stories" and got the same result. I've tried exporting the stories from a different local .indd file to my computer and got the same result.

    What else should I try? Reinstall InDesign?

12. crash at every startup

    InDesign crashes on every startup from this computer (Win11 Intel i9 G13, 64GB RAM, nvidia RTX 3600). This bug happens in all versions of InDesign installed trough CreativeCloud (also the 4 previous versions). When I start the app trough the CreativeCloud application it starts up without issues. When I start it trough the TaskBar icon, StartMenu or by double clicking an indd file it craches. Crash information bug report attached.

    Note: My Windows user account is always elevated (admin privileges) and UAC is disabled. I tried starting up Indesign as a normal user but the salme crash happens.

16. PDF Workflow shows syntax error in exported PDF Version 18.5

    I read that there was some Problems with PDF export since InDesign version 18.4. And i want to report that there are still issues with the latest version 18.5. Our Workflow reports syntax error in pdf and aborts procession. Its a full stop, no detailed error messages were shown. The only solution for us is to place the PDF again in older InDesign (17.4) and export a PDF from there.

17. InDesign crashes before it opens since lastupdate.

    InDesign crashes before it opens since updating last week. Can only open it by holding down Shift Control Option Command and deleting the preferences.

    We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

    If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us. (Guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html )

    Also, please send the following information to santalwa@adobe.com :

    • Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when InDesign crashed?
    • Video recording of the crash
    • Is(Are) the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you provide us with the document(s)/asset(s)? Please package the entire document (To package the document, choose File → Package…)

18. Adobe InDesign 18.5 missing Fonts

    Missing Fonts in Adobe InDesign 18.5.

    Hello,
    Our Corporate Font is always missing in Adobe Indesign 18.5. Our IT checked the Font istallation, Libraray Font Cache ... and we got the Info, it is only an Adobe InDesign problem. Cause the corporate Font is in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop available.

    The complete Grafik Team has installed otf and ttf Fonts. (And no we don't use Postscript Typ 1 Fonts.) 😉

    Our Typedesigner tested the Font, everything is ok.
    We are using InDesign 18.5 on Mac Ventura 13.5. Deinstalling and install InDesign 18.5 new didn't solve the Problem. The complete Font-Family is not available in InDesign.

    Could you please fix that Bug, otherwhise we can't produce or adverticements and commercial materials in InDesign, cause or corporate Font is not avialable in Adobe Fonts or other Font Stores.

    Can you try putting all these fonts in the folder: /Applications/Adobe InDesign 2023/Fonts and see if it solves the issue?

19. relink with file extension bug

    Relink File Extension is not working. This bug seems persistent so I can only assume not too many people are reporting it, but it's slowing down my productivity. When I try to use Relink File Extensions and choose the option to link images that have the .psd extension rather than a .jpeg I get the error message "Failed to find 1 links in new folder. These links have not been relinked, and will remain selected in the Links panel." Each time I've attempted to do this over the last couple of months, I double-check that the only difference in the file name is the extension. And I confirm both images are in the same directory. It just doesn't work. Please, please fix! This is a big feature for me in my production work flow. Not having it is slowing me down.

    Hi Kevin & others,

    It looks like you may be inputting ".psd" when it asks you for the filename extension.

    Try inputting just "psd" - that is, without the period in front.

    See what happens - it should work.

20. Color Picker causes InDesign to Crash

    Every time I try to use the eyedrop Color Picker tool in InDesign it causes InDesign to crash and close. It will not allow me to drag the eyedropper to pick up a color, and if I try to drag the eyedropper it makes the color box freeze to where I cannot click "Ok" or "Cancel" and I need to press the "Esc" button on my keyboard to get out of the color box. Shortly after closing the color box, InDesign will crash and close. I have tried updating InDesign to the newest version, turning on/off my computer multiple times, sending crash reports every time the issue happens, creating a new file in InDesign, closing all other applications. When I look at the activity monitor on my Mac, it says InDesign is using 99%-101% CPU. I have a new (purchased 09/2022) MacBook M1 Pro with 16GB of memory, 500GB Flash Storage (494 GB available) Version 12.6 Monterey.

    2. Steps to Reproduce this issue: Every time I try to click the eyedropper tool to change the color of either text, a line, or a background box it will cause InDesign to crash. I created a new InDesign file to see if the issue will persist in a separate file and it crashed in the new file as well.

    3. Expected Result: I expect to click and drag the eyedropper tool to a part of a photo that has been placed in InDesign to capture the color to use for either text, a line, or a box.

    4. Actual Results: The color box freezes to where I cannot click "Ok" or "Cancel", then InDesign will crash and close on its own and ask if I want to send a crash report. I always say yes to sending a crash report.

    If you are still seeing this crash happening in InDesign, please do the following:

    1. do a screen recording
    2. attach a test file
    3. mention the OS version, InDesign version.

    Put the screen recording and test file in a shared drive and share the location of the same with us.
