1. Indesign crashes when there is a footnote conflict (imported document)

   Beim Importieren eines Word-Dokumentes mit einer Fussnote die über eine Seite lang ist kommt es zu einem fehlerhaften Import wenn die Einstellung des Indesigndokumentes auf "Fussnoten nicht teilen" steht.
   Ab der langen Fussnote wird kein importierter Text mehr dargestellt, jedoch trotz genügen Leerseiten ein Übersatz angezeigt.

   Beim Versuch einer Synchronisation innerhalb eines Buchdokumentes stürzt Indesign ohne Fehlermeldung ab.
   Dies gilt ebenso bei nachfolgenden Buchdokumenten

2. Chrash when opening tab menue

   Crashing when ever I try to open the tab menue. After restart the button menue I never use is shown

3. Applying character or paragraph style causes eventual crash

   I make extensive use of the command-RETURN keyboard shortcut to apply character and paragraph styles. It seems that if I use this shortcut enough times, InDesign will crash. This happens several times a day, forcing me to reopen all my files and try to remember where I was.

4. The character sequence -xx'-x crashes InDesign 2021 (v 16.0) on Mac

   The sequence of letters -xx'-x crashes InDesign 2021 (v 16.0) as soon as you write this sequence yourself, copy or mark a letter from it (e.g. to change the text size) or do a search for this string, in a normal text field.

   To reproduce the issue, simply write -xx'-x into a text field in InDesign 2021 or copy it into the text field. The X'x can be replaced here by other normal letters, upper and lower case doesn't seem to matter. The crash seems not to happen if the last X is a special character like ";" or "! Furthermore, there must be two or more letters before the '-x
   
   The Font-Family also doesn´t play a role here. We tested it with different fonts.

   Since we have a lot of documents with this letter combination, we cannot edit them in Indesign 2021 anymore. On InDesign 2020 it worked without problems.

   Tested with InDesign 2021 (German Version) on different Imacs and Macbooks with macOS Catalina 10.15.6 and Imac with Mojave macOS 10.14.

5. Files open small and display in the top left only - scrolling goes hay wire

   the program seems to be functioning, but will only open and create new files in the top left hand corner of the screen. If I zoom in, it will zoom, but only in that small space. If I scroll, it goes hay wore showing only grey and clipping lines like it can't process what its viewing.

   Help, I can't use Indesign at all with it like this.

6. Type library is not automatically created by CC2020 installation. Error 104705: Unable to load Adobe InDesign Type Library (Version 1.0)

   Extensions and scripts halting or crashing after installing CC2020, due to a missing type library.
   Our customers report errors after updating to CC2020, and I got the same error when I tried. Our script make a halt at a DoScript call, with this error: 104705: Unable to load Adobe InDesign Type Library (Version 1.0)
   After starting InDesign CC2020 "AS ADMINISTRATOR", a missing type library is obviously created: the message and error disappears after doing that once.
   It was not enough for my user just to have administrator privileges on my computer and in the domain, I had to explicitly start InDesign as Administrator.
   I found the answer here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/doscript-error-unable-to-load-adobe-indesign-type-library-version-1-0/m-p/11335921?page=1#M197052

   This needs to be fixed in the Adobe installation package for CC2020. Otherwise many script end-user will have to call support and have someone to start InDesign as administrator for them (in case they are not allowed to do that themselves) – it's not obvious to an end user what to do at all when this error occurs.

7. Save/Save as corrupts file

   InDesign 2021, running on Mac OS 10.14.6, on a iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019)

   I recently "upgraded" my version of InDesign to the latest 2021 version. I thought, why not, new features, upgraded stability.

   Or so I thought....

   I started working on a document, a newsletter, that I retrieved from our archive as it is a quarterly magazine. I opened the file and proceeded to start working on it. Did a couple of pages and thought I'd better save it.

   Command+s, message pops up saying this file is damaged and/or corrupt, save it as something else. Which I did, and so it came up with another warning saying, "this file is damaged and will be recovered".

   Ok, so I saved a recovery file, tried to open that, then I got hit with a InDesign serious error warning and will be shut down.

   Tried again a few times and went through the same process. So then I thought it may be the preferences, So I launched the application holding down shift+option+command and it seemed to work. I managed to actually save a document without any corruption. Great!

   I thought I'd sorted it, now, tried to work on my document again and its doing the same thing.

   Got sick of my time being wasted.

   Uninstalled

   Re-installed the previous InDesign and it seems to be fine now.

   I installed the latest version as it boasted "upgraded stability" This is very much so, not the case.

9. Copy and Paste - Adobe InDesign 2021 v 16.1.0.20

   I am using Adobe InDesign 2021 v16.1.0.20. Every time I try to copy and paste the app completely crashes. Then when I try to restore the file I was working on, as InDesign prompts, it completely crashes again. I am using a MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) macOS Big Sur 11.2.3.

10. 复合字体(fuheziti) in CHINESE INDESIGN CC 2020 & 2021

    Any one of these action will definitely CRASH InDesign:
    1. Try to create a character style using a predefined fuheziti
    2. In default mode (no page opened), try to import character/paragraph/object styles that uses fuheziti from a page.

11. Indesign is having difficulty reading some unsaved changes in 'doc_name'

    After update to indesign version 16.2.1.102 (macOS Catalina version 10.15.7), indesign is asking to repair document and won't save without a 'save as'. The doc can then be saved, but closing and reopening the doc results in having to go through the whole process again!

12. indesign crashes when inserting copied text from an external document

    indesign cc 2021 16.1

    I open an existing indesign document
    I copy text from a google doc / external file
    I insert text into existing connected text frame with the text spreading over both frames

    -> indesign crashes

    (restarting indesign did not help. restarting the mac did not help. wirting text by hand without copying works. copying text within the document works.)

13. InDesign stalls with with new MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

    InDesign is stalling (pausing for up to 30 second) regularly on my new MacBook Air with the Silicon M1 chip. I know it is an Intel Based program but I don't think the emulator is working. Shouldn't Rosetta 2 download automatically when I use InDesign? I presume you (the good folks at Adobe) are working to make it native to the new chip. Happy Holidays. Seth

14. InDesign 2021 crashes when opening some panels

    For example, I select some text and click to open the Hyperlinks panel. ID crashes straight away.

    Or I select an anchored object, right click to select Anchored Object > Options. The panel comes up with 'Inline' selected and then I click on 'Above Line'. It crashes straight away.

    I've had a similar problem working in tables, when I right click to delete a row, it crashes immediately.

    I've had to go back to 2020 to be able to work on some of my documents.

15. balance columns + Span Columns = freeze

    Version: Indesign 2021; 16.0

    In a 2-column text box with "Balance columns" on, I applied "Span Columns: All" to a line of text. If I hit "OK" or turn on the preview, then Indesign freezes until I Force-Quit.

19. Indesign 16.1 keeps crashing

    Hi,

    My Indesign keeps crashing when I paste or modify the text (both inside Indesign or imported from Word) beyond very simple modifications: if I replace one word it still works, but it crashes when I replace a paragraph or a text box.

    It became impossible to work on Indesign and I really need to get my work done. Help!

    I'm working on a macbook pro (mid-2012, non-retina) + macOS Catalina (10.15.7).

    I also sent the crash report (I also saved it as a text file if needed).

20. Presentation mode (shift+w) glitch in catalina

    Indesign CC 2019 running on a 15-inch, 2018 Mac, 2,6 GHz Intel Core i7 6 core, 32GB memory, with Catalina iOS 10.15.

    Every time i enter the "presentation mode", the first page i visualize looks good, when i move with the keyboard arrows to another page it visualizes glithces.

    The required fix has been done by Apple in 10.15.3 and newer versions of macOS.
    Please update macOS to resolve this issue.
