   INDD 2019 v14.0.2 x64.

   I have an INDD book. I export the book to PDF and everything is fine. I export it to ePub and many things go wrong:
   (1) spacing between words goes haywire. This appears to happen when they are Small Caps.
   
   (2) Certain characters are missing and not rendered - for example ḷ, ṇ, ṃ, ṭ, etc.
   (3) Footnote hyperlinks are no longer working.
   (4) ToC hyperlinks are not working.

   I attach both PDF and ePub files. System doesn't let me attach epub or zip files si I renamed epub file to "Udana-Master-epub.pdf" - please change file ext to get an epub file. Thanks.

2. Bug affichage éléments graphiques

   Bonjour. Je rencontre un bug d'affichage à l'export avec Publish Online. (cf pj) Je ne sais pour quelle raison sur toutes mes publications, le graphisme est découpé de façon étrange une fois publié, alors que sur le PDF tout est OK... c'est très embêtant car les usagers pensent qu'il y a un problème sur les documents alors que ce n'est pas le cas... Je rentre ce problème depuis plusieurs versions d'InDesign.

4. Error 39 - An error occurred while uploading your document. Please try again.

   Hey all,

   Really seeking some help or guidance here, we've been experiencing issues with all of our users attempting to upload/publish a document within InDesign (This is occurring with all InDesign files and on all machines I've tested so far).

   I have performed a fresh installation into a virtual machine running Windows 10 (10.0.18363.1854) and version 17.0 of InDesign where the issue is occurring also.

   I have followed https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/upload-error-publishing-indesign-document.html#sa_src=web-messag... however disabling network proxy is not an option as we're an enterprise environment.

   I can see 200's for reaching the endpoints mentioned in various Adobe support documentation however I have been able to identify that InDesign will ignore the PAC file and attempt to go directly to some Amazon endpoints which is causing the error.

   I contacted Adobe Support via Chat and was advised my request was forwarded to an expert however I have received no communications since then or a reference number to persue the matter.

   Is there any additional settings within InDesign where I can specify a proxy?

5. Publish Online is a total disappointment

   Publish Online is an unreliable source for analytics, one its touted features, and it needs to be resolved immediately.

   Here's an idea: make it function in ANY web browser or get rid of it entirely. I don't care if it has a 90-minute lag time, please just start somewhere and fix this issue. I am so unbelievably frustrated that I was able to provide analytics after one hour of publishing my document and now, three days later, nothing appears. It's embarrassing and humiliating when part of my job relies on this to function as expected and it NEVER does when I actually need it to.

6. Some hyperlinks/cross-references lost in HTML export

   When exporting a document containing hyperlinks and/or cross-references to HTML, some hyperlinks are lost.

   See the screenshot of an example InDesign document attached. (This is an anonymised excerpt from a much larger document.) The index item at the bottom contains cross-references to numbered/lettered paragraphs in the text above.

   In the actual HTML output files from both InDesign 2020 and 2021, some of those cross-references have not been correctly converted into hyperlinks. (Compare the links in the expected HTML output file.)

   Ugly workaround: insert extra characters immediately before and after each distinct hyperlink/cross-reference. In the actual 'bookended links' HTML file you can see that I have inserted a $-sign before/after each hyperlink, and the links have been exported correctly. The $-sign can then be removed by search/replace in a text editor to produce the correct HTML (this is how the expected HTML file was created).

   When it happens in a document, it happens consistently: the same hyperlinks are lost each time – but within the document there seems to be no pattern to the links that stick and the links that disappear once exported.

   This example has been tested in InDesign 16.4 x64 and 15.1.4 x64 on Windows 10 and 16.3.2 on macOS Big Sur and the results are the same in each.

7. Bullet/number markers included in adjacent hyperlinked text when exported as HTML

   When exporting content containing bulleted/numbered lists to HTML (using the Bullets/Numbers: Convert to Text option in HTML Export Options), bulleted or numbered list item markers that are immediately followed by hyperlinked text get included with the text inside an <a /> tag. It would be more predictable (and easier to format with CSS) if the bullet/number markers remained outside of the <a /> tag.

8. Swipe Gestures not working

   'Swipe Gestures to navigate within pages' used to work earlier in both mobile phones and laptops.
   But recently when I tried, Swipe Gestures are not working at all.
   Adobe clearly mentions that publish online supports smooth gesture controls : https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/publish-online.html

   Please fix this ASAP.

9. Endnote Links Not Functioning When Published Online

   I have a complex document (725 pages across 15 chapters) in which each chapter contains between 75 and 300 endnotes that I imported from the most current version of MS Word into InDesign 2021 (v. 16.4 x64). When I export a chapter as a PDF, everything works reasonably well (although links between in-text endnote numbers and endnote references simply jump between applicable page numbers, rather than to the notes themselves, but I can live with that). But when I publish a chapter or the whole online, only the bookmarks from the InDesign TOC feature work. The links between endnote numbers in text and their corresponding references in the endnotes do not work at all. Clicking on the blue text does nothing. Is this a known bug when publishing online? Is there a work-around?

10. publish online mobile

    InDesign 16.4

    When i publish a document using 'publish online' it doesn't work correctly on mobile. When you first load it up on mobile the navigation bar at the bottom is there, but if you click anything on the page the navigation bar disappears. This then means you can't navigate through the rest of the brochure.

    I've tried this on multiple mobile browsers including Chrome, Edge & Brave and the same happens on each.

    This is a major issue for us as a lot of people will want to view this document on mobile.

13. Sound not working in interactive epub

    This epub played fine before now nothing that I do makes the sound play. I removed/reimported them but they no longer play in preview or when pubished. These are small free sound effect files like bird songs etc. All royalty free.

14. Object states button disappears after click

    In a multi-state object, the button that activates the MSO disappears after being clicked. No where in the settings have I told it to disappear after being clicked.

    Version: I'm running InDesign 16.3.2 (though I downgraded to 16.2 and am still having the problem)
    Steps to reproduce issue:
    I created the MSO using buttons/forms and the object states panel. Close button should revert back to original state (star).
    Expected Result: Button should reappear.
    Actual Result: Button is gone after click.

    The problem is both in the ePub preview and when published online.

15. Version CC 2021 - All the documents I had in Publish Online have disappeared.

    Version CC 2021 - There was an update in the indesing program and all the documents I had in Publish online have disappeared. Did the same thing happen to anyone else?

17. ePub export creates huge png files

    When exporting a .indd document as an epub the resulting file contains huge png files in size. These are colour boxes I have created - not images. Some up to 9000 x 4000. This is despite the document being 2300x1600.

    You cannot upload the file for Apple iBooks because they have a limit on file dimensions of 4mb (ie: 2000x2000).

    Please can you provide a way of reducing the file size of these .png colour blocks before export.

    I am using In Design CC 2021 latest version (dated 29 July 2021).

18. Publish online video in Safari lags slow load

    Can someone please escalate this to Apple if its a Safari issue?
    Its been mentioned several times now.

    Pages with video published online will lag and slow load in Safari.

20. Inability to process transparency effects in rollover button states.

    I want to create a rollover effect for my TOC. It's a three page TOC. There are almost 200 listings. I cannot make every line a button. That would be crazy. So I wanted to just place the text on one layer, and a 50% transparent box that is a button that appears on rollover. But evidently that cannot be done? How else might I handle this?
