Unable to select multiple objects when hidden spreads are in document
InDesign version: 20.1
There seems to be a bug that occurs when there are hidden spreads in the document, where you cannot click and drag to select items on a visible spread. Also when you copy content from one spread to another it doesn't transfer to the current selected page. See below for my experience:
Steps to reproduce issue (part 1):
1. create a document with multiple pages (e.g., 26 pages).
2. Hide some spreads throughout document. (e.g., page 1, page 5, pages 20-23, etc).
3. Attempt to select multiple objects by clicking and dragging.Expected result: objects selected!

Elements disappear when two different templates are opposite each other on a double page (indesign 2024 - 19.5.1)
When you apply two different templates on a double page, some elements of the template disappear. This bug is not systematic, but has come back regularly for years.
This happens when a parent template and a child template are on a facing page (see screenshot).Lorsqu'on applique deux gabarits différents sur une double page certains éléments du gabarit disparaissent. Ce bug n'est pas systématique, mais revient régulièrement depuis des années.

TOC Generation or Update Crashes InDesign 2025
macOS 15.2, InDesign 20.0.1
When I generate or update a TOC there is a roughly 7 in 10 chance InDesign 2025 will crash. This happens with multiple documents and has been happening consistently with every document since the release of 20.0 in October.
- I initially thought it was because I was using ID '25 on macOS Ventura, but it's still happening with existing and new documents since updating my Mac to Sequoia.
- Additionally, the same files moved to other computers (Windows 10, for example) also crash there when generating, updating TOCs.

Searching and finding overset text no longer changes to the page this text is on
In InDesign 2024, you can search for text that happens to be overset (outside a text box). When you press find next, the page changes to the location of this text box with the matching overset text.
In InDesign 2025 version 20.01, you can search for overset text (outside the text box). The page will not change if the matching text is overset.
Being able to search for text that is inside an overset text box, and knowing what page it is on, is an important function. Can we get this back? Seems like a simple fix.

Files Open with Guides Hidden
Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: InDesign 2025 (20.0.1)
Steps to reproduce the issues: Create new INDD file or open existing INDD or INDT file
Expected result: Opened file shows guides
Actual result: Opened file does not show guidesOpening any new or existing file in InDesign 2025 opens the file with guides turned off. Opening the same existing files in InDesign 2024 opens the file with guides turned on.

Overset text on hidden spreads
When you hide a spread I would prefer if preflight does not include that in the error reports.

[ID-4255870] Document Fonts available even if not active
Working on an indesign document that has its own “Document Fonts” folder that contains fonts specific to that document (not activated anywhere else), then switching to a new document that does not have any “Document Fonts” folder, the fonts of the previous document are still available, but if I close indesign completely and then reopen the new document the fonts are no longer available.
This is not correct, fonts that are not activated or not present in the “Document Fonts” folder specific to that document, should not be available for other documents that do not reside in the same folder.

Fix for this issue is available in the latest PreRelease build (20.1.0.28) of InDesign available via Creative Cloud Desktop application (look under the Pre-release tab).
If you would like to join InDesign PreRelease program, do the following:
* Go to https://www.adobeprerelease.com/
* Sign in with your Adobe ID (Email address associated with your Adobe account)
* Click Available Programs
* Find InDesign Prerelease and click Join

View on open document fades to pure grey (i.e. the chosen background color)
Happens frequently, mostly after some actions just after the opening of the app. See attached screenshot with applied "select all" command to show something.
Temporary solution: Reopen document. But that is still irritating for a mature application.

Black block
Instead of text there are these black rectangles - only on parts of it. When I placed the text it was ok, but then it randomly switched to this. It still somehow detects text there but I cannot see it. I converted the doc to the previous Indesign version but the issue is still here.

[ID-4253057]Autonumbering in Hide Spreads is not working for Text Variables -> Insert Variable -> Last Page Number
Text variable "Last page number" does not update with Hide Spread.
With the newest update hiding spreads works automatically updates the pagination. This does not however change the "Last page number" variable. I often use this for screen presentations to display page X/X.
This seems like a simple oversight in the update, but would be nice to have fixed.

[ID-4256710]InDesign 20.0 is unable to open INDD files without any error or alert
InDesign 20.0 can't open some files - they start to open and then the process is just somehow cancels and nothing happens. No error - you can try again but the files doesn't open.
I have macOS 15.1 on a 2.4GHz 8-core Intel Core i9 macBook Pro

We are aware of one scenario where the issue is reproducible. The workaround resolves the known scenario as stated below:
- Open the document in InDesign 19.5.
- Export it to IDML.
- Open the IDML in InDesign 20.0.

Custome page size rotation
If I go to the parent pages to adjust an existing master (I had portrait tabloid parent pages), and I adjust the second page to be a letter-sized page, even if I select landscape for the new page size it defaults to portrait.

Indesign Document Setup not holding height and width measurements typed in.
When typing in width and height into Document Setup it does not hold the measurements and reverts to last document opened measurements.

[ID-4256670]InDesign crashes while navigating through Parent Pages in Pages Panel
InDesign 20.0
Click on the first parent page in the panel and use option + page down to navigate. When you reach a parent page that is not used in the document, you can go no further.
Click the last parent in the panel and use option + page up to navigate. Either the selection jumps to the first parent page in the panel or InDesign crashes.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

Blocked deletion of pages - BIn Desing 20.0 x64 PL version
Blocked ability to delete or add, edit pages of pages by clicking on icons. On the icons there is an inscription that blocks their operation, very irritating.

InDesign 2025 (v20.0) is allowing me to open the same file more than once
InDesign 2025 (v20.0) is allowing me to open 2024 v19.5 files more than once. It doesn't seem to be an issue once the file is converted from 19.5 to 20.0 but it's concerning as I edit files made previously.

Moving pages not working because of "locked" content?
In 2025 I have a file where I am trying to copy pages into another file and I get a pop up message saying "Cannot modify elements that contain locked content, or are contained by locked content. Please unlock or check out the content and try again." This makes no sense, I have never seen this before. There is NO reason for (as it turns out) having a locked object on a page to preclude me from moving/copying that page, this is isnane.

New document size issues
When I create a new document in any Adobe program (mostly InDesign) and select what size I want to change it to (whether it be custom or a print size), the size reverts back to a previous size. I have to do this 3-5 times before I get the size I want. It has been like this on the last few updates. I'm currently on the latest InDesign version 20.0 2025.
