Workfront Integration
I'm having an impossible time exporting PDFs from InDesign and uploading directly to Workfront using the Adobe Workfront Plug-in. No matter what settings I use, when I export directly to WF, the PDF is corrupt (images/text drops out, text frames duplicate on top of each other, etc.)...but when I export a PDF to a local folder, then upload that existing PDF using the WF Plug-in, the PDF is fine. See the examples below - the item on the left is the PDF output directly to WF, and the item on the right is output using the exact same settings, output…

Disable automatic sect-tags on PDF export
When exporting a tagged PDF, InDesign automatically creates Sect-Tags for each story. I would like to be able to disable this feature on export for the following reasons:
- As far as I know, they are of limited value for screen reader users. The content is usually already well structured by means of an appropriate heading structure.
- It is very difficult to integrate figures into a story in a semantically correct/meaningful way. When anchoring them in the text, they will be nested in p-tags, which is according to PDF/UA not correct semantically. Hence, I avoid creating stories and use the article…

Nested anchored tables are tagged as artifacts in PDF
- Adobe InDesign, v.16.4
- Create three text frames, with a table in the third. Anchor the frame with the table into the second frame, then anchor the second frame into the first. Style and create Articles for an accessible PDF. Export to an Interactive PDF.
- Table would appear tagged and in same order as it was anchored in the INDD file.
- Table is set as an artifact and does not appear in the tag tree at all.

Hyperlink alt text is ignored in the latest version of Indesign
When creating or editing a hyperlink there is an option to add alt text. If you add alt text to your link and export an accessible PDF the alt text is ignored. I have a document with a ton of hyperlinks that all need alt text which we have added but don't come through because of this bug. Now I'm forced to add them again to the PDF.
19 votesAccording to the ISO-32000, the Hyperlinks are NOT supposed to be populated into the Alt-Text field. They should be entered into the Contents Key (see attachment) instead.
InDesign currently does place them in the correct place [see screenshot attached].
While someone using Acrobat can also add them to the Alt-text field, this is technically less correct than entering into the Contents key but either will pass an Accessibility checker.InDesign implemented this correctly based on the above information (provided by Accessibility experts, like Dax Castro, thanks Dax).

PDF Export causing font/item misalignment
InDesign 16.2.1 x64
There seems to be an issue caused by Exporting PDFs created by Steinberg Dorico. The expected result can be seen in the file:Hancock - Organ Album AJ - Toccata PDF from Dorico no issues
look at measures 25 and 31 for comparision to
Hancock - Organ Album AJ - Toccata PDF from inDesign issues
there is a clear misalignment of stems with noteheads and tails. This only happens when you Export out of inDesign, the PDF created by Dorico is as it should be.
Any idea why this is happening and can you do anything about…1 vote -
PDF-Roll-Over STILL BROKEN in 2021 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You already know the issue for years but you do not solve it.
If you make a interactive pdf with indesign and have some buttons with a state change on roll-over the alternate roll-over-layout does get stuck sometimes and the layout does not revert to normal automatically.
This is very embarrassing when pitching a client and he just thinks you are too stupid to do it. But it's Adobe's fault. FIX IT ALREADY IT HAS BEEN YEARS!!!!!!!!

pdf file exported from Indesign does not play video as it used to do in my PC before
pdf (interactive) file exported from Indesing doesn't show video; it only plays the audio track and shows it as if it would be an .mp3 As published in the User Guide, a video should still play although the controls for play / stop will not be available. I am using Indesign version 16.4

tagged annotations - failed!
Indesign 15.1.3
Right now InDesign is USELESS for creating accessible pdfs, and they are the one thing I MUST create these days! It's the same every time, however you tag objects, artefacts etc they come up as tagged annotations failed. This means that the document CAN'T BE PUBLISHED. InDesign is a useless waste of money. It is rubbish in this day and age.
This needs fixing! The world wants accessible documents now!

PDF Exporting to the Artifact Folder
Computer Info: MacBook Pro 13 inch, 2018, OS: Big Sur 11.5.2
Indesign Info: CC 16.3.2Lately, InDesign defaults all my exports to the "artifact" Folder on my computer (see screenshot). I don't know why. It seems like a bug. Even if in a session, I have already exported from the same file elsewhere or exported from a different file elsewhere, every time export it always defaults to that folder.
The only thing is because I run the files off the server. But, if that is the case it used to work and has recently stopped working. Please help.

When I export a document as pdf then I miss some elements when I open the pdf in Illustrator. The missing elements are in my case some with color gradients. This should fixed in a next update. I use InDesign 2021 (16.3) and AI 2021 (25.4.1)

indesign export to pdf unusable for Thai
Basically all the diacritics are messed up, regardless of font used. The PDF looks fine but the text if copied from the PdF is garbled.
This is in 16.2.1 (2021). It was working in 2019.Johan shared this idea · May 28, 2021 · Flag idea as inappropriate…

Problem with linked Mathtype *.EPS equations after last update in Indesign 16.3. Equations are destroyed in exported PDF for printing.
I have finished book with 1.5k of equations and i am unable to export PDF for printing. (see attached files) HEEEELP! All Mathtype equations use system fonts (Times New Roman & Symbol) and they are EPS files linked in InDesign. If i open that equation file in MathType or Illustrator everything is OK. I can send whatever files you want.

CC2021: Alternate text for hyperlinks
I am reposting this from https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38972206-cc2020-alternate-text-for-hyperlinks
Because despite Adobe's claim it is STILL NOT FIXED IN 2021 16.2.1
"In CC2020 a new function for writing alternate text for links was introduced.
Using this function and generating a PDF Leeds to wrong PDF notation. The alt text in PDF is presented by alt text, which is forbidden in the PDF world, where alt text only should be used for non text elements, e.g. pictures. By presenting only the alt text the accessibility is lost – this is against the goal to hav a better output!A correct output would lead to…

Missing ALT-Text in PDF
Since the latest update to InDesign 16.3.2 alternative text to hyperlinks and cross-references is not included in the <Link> tag of the exported PDF-document.
3 votesIt has been implemented this way as per Accessibility Requirements.
According to Accessibility Requirements, Alt Text should be placed under the /K Array in the Dictionary – please see attachment for more information.
