Text appears heavier over a transparent image
When text is in a layer above an image that has its basic blending mode set to "multiply" the text is rendered with a darker outline. This does not appear in the final PDF, only the preview, but it makes it extremely difficult to judge font sizes and whether text is bold.
To reproduce:
- Create text in a text box.
- Insert a JPEG image on the page.
- Use the Arrange option on the image to "send to back" so that it is in a layer below the text
- Use Effects > Transparency on the image and set its blending mode…

April 2022 update opens in unusable display mode. CRITICAL
InDesign 2022 (April) opens in "restore" screensize, but it's entirely off screen (top left). There is no way to adjust the "restore" screen size and position.
This "restore" problem has been present for many years, but now InDesign not only forgets the restore position and size, it uses uninitialized values and is impossible to use.
The "maximize" size icon is just visible on my UHD display (top left) so I can make InDesign go full screen -- but on a 50" UHD display I need an ADJUSTABLE app size. So now this latest result makes the whole program very inconvenient…1 vote -
Rulers
In the latest version it is much harder to place a guide on the exact spot because the guide in the ruler itself has become much thicker/dotted when before it was just a thin line and was more accurately placed on the needed measurement.

Fonts with a certain suffix in the family name not showing up in the font menu
InDesign 17.2.1 macOS 12.3.1
When installing four different regional packages each of them following this family name structure: name + region, being the family names:
MyFont APAC
MyFont CYR
MyFont EMEA
MyFont NALA
Fonts with CYR in the family name don't show up in the font menu, while the rest of the fonts do.
The fonts are somewhere though as InDesign does not complain about the fonts not being installed when opening a document set in that font.1 vote -
Multiple line hyperlinks tab out of order when exported to PDF.
Hi there. For whatever reason, when I have hyperlinks that wrap to a new line in InDesign, Acrobat tabs through them in the reverse order when exported as a PDF. Here is an example:
[Let's say this sentence is a hyperlink that
has wrapped to a new line.]When exported to a PDF, the tab order starts at [has wrapped to a new line.] then tabs to [Let's say this sentence is a hyperlink that]. And it continues that method throughout the piece. This is with tabbing set to document structure. If I set the tabbing method to "row", it…

The wrong InDesign version is started.
- InDesign 16.4.2; 17.2.1 for PC
- try to open indd file or idml file
- InDesign 17.2.1 should start
- InDesign 16.4.2 is starting
- …
I have two versions of InDesign installed on my Windows computer, versions 16 and 17. After automatically patching the older version to 16.4.2 today, all .indd and .idml files open with the older version instead of the new one. My attempts to manually change this setting keep getting overwritten, I suspect by the creative-cloud software. Is there any way to change the setting?

InDesign hyphenates certain words incorrectly
InDesign hyphenates certain words incorrectly. Examples include "worldview" and "Princeton," which InDesign hyphenates as "worl-dview" and "Princ-eton." I'm in InDesign 17.2.1, but this has been the case for all versions. It would be understandable if these were foreign or unusual words, but common words like this should never break this way.

dashed lines
Hi I'm just wondering what could be causing dashed lines to print with 'ticks'? The file exports to PDF showing as normal (first image) but prints dashed lines as shown in the second image.
The same thing happens (randomly) with images created in Illustrator as well as boxes created in Indesign.

Layout options for multiple records from data merge
I have recently discovered Data Merge and it works great for most things. However I need to output multiple records per page set out head-to-head. This is so the output can be printed and folder in half with the text on both side the right way up. More detailed controls would be big help.

Adobe Digital Editions bug in Windows
Fixed-format epubs created by InDesign (17.2.1) show correctly in Adobe Digital Editions (14.5) on Mac (OS 12.3) but incorrectly in Adobe Digital Editions (14.5) on Windows (10). I have attached screenshots that show the difference. I was unable to upload the original files.

With the smallest changes to the continuous text, individual connected text frames are sporadically skipped! And throughout the following section of text! The document must be constantly checked for empty text frames. That's no fun with 500 pages and makes professional work almost impossible!

Preview glitches.
ID 17.2.1
Zooming in/out in a document sometimes displays glitches/artifacts that block the view of the actual design.
Moving the window or dragging the document around the pasteboard fixes the issue; still, it's annoying because it blocks one from working properly.1 vote -

overprint
Overprint in my currently installed versions of INDD (17.2.1) and AI (262.1) is unpredictable. I have ust received feedback from a client, that the date on a recently printed flyer is illegible. It is overprinting on a dark background, but in INDD the element is not set to overprinting. A screen PDF from the same INDD-file is completely normal. I've had this happeining in a couple of INDD-documents since the last update. I have had the same issue with an AI document this week as well.

overprint is unpredictable in INDD and AI
In the latest versions of INDD (17.2.1) and AI (26.2.1) i find that the overprint settings have become unpredictable. I have just received feedback from a client, that the date on a flyer i designed for him is illegible. In the attached print-file the date actually is overprinting. In INDD though the element is not set to overprinting. I have had the same issue with another document this week in AI.

hyphenation not working properly in English
first, why can't I use a snipping file here? Neither .jpg or .png will work - your site denies these file types.
My hyphenation is really out of whack. If you look at the first line of text, it's crazy that it's wrapping the 1, for WW1 to the next line. If I add the No Break from the Character panel, it moves "World War" down to the second line.
