Add Sticky Notes to Incopy like in Acrobat
The Layout and the the Editors work pretty close together in our company. The ability for the Editors to correct their text in the Layoutview is a nice thing for both... Layout and Editors. But we really miss the "Sticky Note" Feature known from Acrobat. When the Editors try to communicate, that they want changes being applied to the Design, thats not really possible with Incopy right now. For example, the editors would love to click the sticky note tool, so that they could place it right next to a picture and add their notes. For exmample: "make this one bigger", "Erase this on", "Please take Picture 678 instead", and so on.
We would really need a sticky note feature.

(InCopy) Include "document fonts" when packaging for InCopy
It would be great, if the fonts could be included in a Package for InCopy.
We often send a InCopy package for external corrections. They need the fonts to do their job properly.13 votes -
Cell spacing
It would be great to be able to have an spacing between cells, while being able to have a cell border.
I'm working on a brochiure with this kind of table, but can't reproduce it with regular tables and cells.13 votes -
Object style frame fitting: add 'align towards/away from spine'
This feature very useful for paragraph styles, for aligning type on facing pages on a spread. Would be equally useful for objects, so can align images towards/away from spine

Gutter control on spreads for facing-pages layout that require bleed on the inside edges
There are several requests for this that don't use correct terminology, so I'm going to add this one to hopefully consolidate votes on this long overdue feature. When working on facing-page projects that are not bound with glue, it is imperative that graphics and color that goes to the inside edge have bleed into the gutter. There is no gutter bleed support for parent pages in InDesign, requiring us to create two spreads with bleed across the gutter from either side to support pages that need that gutter bleed on export. Then we have to separate the pages in the layout so that the gutter is accessible on every page that has graphics or color to the inside edge. This is a massive amount of work for something that should be build into the spreads. We should be able to create facing page spreads with a gutter that we can then bleed our design into. Please, please, please add this! I'm so tired of the workarounds, which require twice as many parent spreads and the constant shuffling of pages to keep track of necessary gutter bleed. I've been using ID since version 1.

TOC - Update page numbers only
Update page numbers only in TOC (like it is possible in a common Text Processing software) would save a lot of time, as we often insert styling and manual line warps in the TOC for aestetical reasons and have to redo it as TOC has to be refreshed and overwrites everything.
The suggestion in this forum to create Cross-References would also be a nice solution to this problem.

Add scrolling feature to Publish Online
I create decks for brands and companies, and we often need to use interactive elements like videos and gifs — so we need to publish them online.
Because of smartphones, the design of most websites now, and the way people read PDFs in 'Reader', people expect to be able to scroll rather than clicking left and right.
I'm having a lot of requests now to create documents in non-adobe programmes, like Readymag — purely because they offer scrolling.
My contemporaries are having the same.
I hope this would be a small fix for Adobe, because it would make a huuuuge difference.

"Use Typographer's Quotes" should be an option in Character and Paragraph styles
"Use Typographer's Quotes" should be an option in Character and Paragraph styles.
I generally use typographer's quotes. But when I'm typing in feet, inches, etc. I want the associated sign to be straight, e.g., 5' and 6". I should be able to make a style to do this. (Rather than going to (Type --> insert special character --> quotation marks) every time I want to do this.12 votes -
Enable link transfer of Publish Online projects
It would be useful to be able to transfer a project with Publish Online link to another user, so that they can update and publish revised versions of the asset without having to create new links.

Live Collaboration Feature
Please add a function to collaborate on one document with multiple users simultaneously. Version Control is one of the biggest tasks on our Indesign projects.

Share for Review: Page view instead of Spread View
I am having lots of people reviewing page-oriented instead of spread-oriented documents. (Books, manuals and the like.) Some are asking why they can't view the PDF in Share for Review as a single scrolling page, like in Adobe Reader. I personally don't care, but I have no answer for them. It would be nice, and it seems it would be technically not that difficult, to support single-page view. This would really help people reviewing on a tablet or a phone.

Updating numbers only in a table of contents
We should have two options when it comes to update a table of contents.
1- Update entire table
2- Update page numbers onlyWord allows it. Why don’t InDesign too?
I’ll be waiting for this change in next update! It’ll change my life!

Better UI scaling option
The only way to adjust the UI size in Indesign is to change the scaling for your whole system, and even then it only supports up to 200% scaling and there is no way to make it bigger beyond that.
I got a new laptop with a HD 4k screen and its already scaled to 250% (I'm using Windows 10) but the user interface is still too small and it really slows down my workflow. Even if increasing my OS scaling to 300%+ fixed it (which it doesn't), it would still be infuriating to have everything on my computer scaled that high all the time, or have to adjust it every time I wanted to use the program. You shouldn't have to change the scaling for your entire system to make this program usable.
I just don't understand why a professional-grade product doesn't account for high-resolution screens, or even include a simple in-program UI scaling slider or option.

Better justification using OpenType Variable Font width axis
Please improve the justification options in InDesign. Variable font width axis could significantly contribute to better text justification – see the attached example.

Automated Language detection
Please consider a automatic intelligence, which could automatically detect the languages used in a document.
In nearly all texts I’m typesetting for journals and specialized books, there are parts of foreign languages inside the text (quotes, citations, ...). It would be genious, if InDesign could automatically search, find, and mark those bits of foreign languages, and change the language mode for those bits, so that the correct hyphenation will be applied.
In combination with the ability to unlimit the number of character styles, that can be applied to character or text, that would be a very powerful feature.
Teach Adobe Sensei to find languages!

"story list.xml"
Can someone please explain what the "story list.xml" is about, which (from time to time) is created when exporting to InCopy?
I have not found any documentation on this. Some inexperienced users are very irritated about this!

Full-width space is treated the same as Kanji
I've been using InDesign in a Japanese environment and have long been frustrated by the lack of distinction between kanji and double-byte spaces.
When you want to select consecutive Kanji by double-clicking (or command + → etc.), adjacent double-byte spaces (0x3000) will be selected together.
When you receive an unsatisfactory text manuscript, double-clicking a wasted double-byte space will select the adjacent kanji together.
I can't imagine the single benefit of this specification. It's just inconvenient.
I would like you to improve this.
I hope you will get the approval of everyone. Thank you.<Japanese>

Import Text Variables using .csv
Currently the only way I can see to import a list of text variables is via another .indd. It's tedious to manage a ~10,000 text variables (prices in a catalogue) within the text variable window in InDesign. It would be great to manage these variables in Excel and then be able to import the .csv into InDesign, to change the variables instantly.
The import table feature is a good way to do this, but only if the prices are displayed in a table. My prices are all separate text frames.
Thanks
