'Apply Similar Filter' character addition
As already used in Photoshop and Illustrator, the 'Apply Similar Filter' to text and character seems like a logical step, given that InDesign is a primarily text heavy application, being able to select similar fonts would be a must in my books.
1 voteThis is now available in InDesign CC 2018. Thanks!!

Is there a way to double the amount of line make. From a maximum of 40 to a maximum of 80.

1 voteHi Daniel,
Thanks for sharing this feature suggestion.
I didn’t understand this request, will it be possible for you to share some more details on this. What does “double the amount of line make” mean here. If you have any example where you can show this that would really help.
Thanks

Hi. I have my panels on the right and would like them to expand to the left and collapse to the right.
I keep my panels on the right and would like them to expand to the left and collapse to the right. This option is definitely available in Adobe Illustrator. Seems like a logical feature and probably easy to implement.
1 voteHi Dan,
Thanks for making this suggestion. I tried this out on my machine. What you have in the expectation is exactly how its working, or am I missing something here. Do you have multiple monitors where you are using this, a screenshot of the issue would really help.
Thanks

Search window
Back in the day you could click on "Help" and search for everything and this feature would help you right away. I can't find it now and hope you will bring it back. It's the fastest way to help yourself. Please bring it back. The feature is also to be found in Photoshop.

Excluding settings in (paragraph) styles
When editing a stylesheet i.e. for a paragraph I want to exclude the character colors. When checking -without color- there is also a override+ marking, which is not needed.
Can we have a checkbox to exclude some style settings or another solution?1 vote -
File handling/sizing when relinking preference shouldn't be a doc preference
This should be a setting you can choose when relinking each image. One image might need one option and another image might need the other - not just a blanket pref setting per document.

Add macOS Core Image Filters as Native Object Effects in InDesign (e.g., Vibrancy, Gaussian Blur, Glass Distortion)
Please add support for macOS Core Image filters (e.g., CIGaussianBlur, CIVibrancy, CIBloom, CIGlassDistortion) as native, real-time object effects within InDesign. These filters are already GPU-accelerated and supported natively by macOS. Tapping into this framework would allow InDesign to offer real-time visual effects like frosted glass, material-style blurs, and ambient glow — without the need to pre-render images in Photoshop.
For designers: Effects like vibrancy, translucency, blur, and light diffusion are increasingly common in modern design — not just in UI/UX, but in packaging, promotional layouts, and publication work. These are time-consuming to fake using raster-based workarounds. Having real-time effects within InDesign (or even Photoshop & Illustrator) frames or shapes would be a massive quality-of-life improvement.
For Mac users: Apple has long provided a robust framework (Core Image + Metal rendering) for these effects. Designers on macOS could benefit from faster rendering, live previews, and native integration — leveraging Apple's hardware acceleration and aesthetic standard directly.
For Adobe: Rather than custom-building each new visual effect, Adobe could hook into macOS’s Core Image pipeline. That means:
• Faster development cycle for new effects.
• Free, ongoing updates as Apple adds new filters (via OS updates).
• Exclusive or enhanced functionality for Creative Cloud Mac users — strengthening Adobe’s value proposition on macOS hardware. This could work by including a new "macOS Core Effects" section in the Object Effects dialog.
Only visible when running InDesign (or illustrator/photoshop) on macOS (gracefully hidden or disabled on Windows).
Non-destructive, toggleable effects (like Drop Shadow or Inner Glow).
Optionally rasterized on export or flattening for cross-platform compatibility. This would create parity with Photoshop’s Smart Filters and Illustrator’s Appearance Panel but inside InDesign, and could expand the offerings within those other apps as well.
Supports modern visual aesthetics like glassmorphism and dynamic lighting.
Offers Mac-based design professionals more power, speed, and consistency without disrupting automation-heavy workflows (e.g., EasyCatalog, print pipelines). This feature would modernize InDesign’s effects toolkit, provide Adobe a scalable way to deliver more effects over time, and strengthen Adobe's integration with Apple’s hardware and OS capabilities. It’s a small change with high-impact potential.
Thank you for your consideration!

Non-breaking Forward Slash Character
In addition to the existing “Nonbreaking Hyphen” and “Nonbreaking Space” options, it would be very useful to have a “Nonbreaking Slash” (/) character. This would prevent line breaks after slashes in certain contexts (e.g., dates, codes, abbreviations), improving typographic control.

A locate option when relinking files in InDesign like Adobe Premiere Pro has! This would save so much time finding those lost links.
When re-linking broken links, offer the option to locate the file be clicking a locate button and have it search quickly a folder or specified area on local disk or server share like Premiere Pro does with missing linked assets. This would save countless hours hunting down those lost links that happen to EVERYOne. Please ad this feature for us. Our team has to try to search them down manually as there is no good way to search a server share as Mac OS built in search refuses to search properly most times. Most files don't even show up but you know they are there.

Why can't the "cell style" control the height of the line in the table?
Why can't the "cell style" control the height of the line in the table?
If the "cell style" can control the height of the line, it will definitely save a lot of unnecessary operations. I wonder why it should be set manually?0 votes -

Add comments from InDesign to reviewer using Share for Review
It seems like owners of documents can only reply to existing comments made in the Share for Review document but can't create comments in InDesign that appear in the Share for Review document. Often, we have a question about text or images that the reviewer needs to answer, but we have to first Share for Review and then create the comment there. It would be great if we could convert InDesign Notes to comments for the reviewer that they can see in the Share for Review side panel.

More motion paths and editable options
I am increasingly finding myself trying to find animation workarounds to achieve what should be simple animation results.
Making the motion path more editable with increased functions and options would help.
As an example I seem to always have a need for a graphic to need a pivoting point motion. So if you had an object that need to rotate around a fixed point, we can use the rotate animation option, but it can't go in reverse or go back and forth.
Imagine a hand waving, it would rotate one way but not loop back in the other direction. And the motion path for a rotating object can't accessed and edited as a flat linear path can be to some degree.

Increase the number of files available under the "Open recent" menu
Please increase the current maximum of 30 in Preferences > File Handling > Number of Recent Items to Display. Some of us open dozens of files every day so 60 or 100 would be more convenient.

Chemin bibliothèque locale Indesign
Hello,
Would it be possible to have the address locally in the "library" panel, as in the link panel? Indeed, CC libraries are handy, but 1 plugin in particular does not support them (EasyCatalog), and it is not practical to find local libraries when you have several of them.
Thanks in advance.0 votes -
Eyedropper Tool and locked layers on top, theme tool
Hey, here is an idea; I have a layer with a photo and i have a layer with text on top. I lock the textlayer and select the eyedropper tool. I click on the photo and the colour is picked. Just like in illustrator...Wishfull thinking?
Here is another golden idea:
I have a photo of an interior, mostly brown- somewhat green and overal grey, but there is an amazing pop of yellow because there is one small flower on a painting.
I select the Colour Theme Tool, I zoom in on the flower, and click on it.
My brain is conflicted why there is no yellow in the theme... did I miss? No..
So, maybe add another responsive box colour (6 instead of 5) so every time you click on a colour that you pick by hand, it will come up in the theme.Hey, here is an idea; I have a layer with a photo and i have a layer with text on top.
