Give an indicator of page's section when creating hyperlink.
When there are multiple page section in the document and each of them has a page number restart again from one, e.g.
Section 1: Page 1 to Page 10
Section 2: Page 1 to Page 25...
and have to create hyperlink, all these page numbers repeat. To find the correct page it is necessary to scroll and check carefully which page with number 3 for example you need to hyperlink (page 3 from Section 1 or page 3 from Section 7...). My proposal is to create short index (maybe the first letters of senction's name) beside the page number in the drop-down menu, so the user could easily identify to which page is creating the hyperlink. Selecting the Section from a drop-down menu before choosing the page number would also work. When there are multiple page section in the document and each of them has a page number restart again from one, e.g.

Refresh Adobe Fonts button
I added 5 styles of Adobe Garamond fonts at fonts.adobe.com and went back to Indesign. They weren't showing up yet so I closed Indesign and then reopened it and they weren't there. I searched help and Google and couldn't find a solution so I contacted Adobe customer support. The Adobe agent suggested the following:
"Please close Indesign and open fonts.adobe.com and then deactivate those 5 fonts and sign out from there. Sign in again and active those fonts and then open Indesign and check."
By that time the fonts had refreshed in Indesign so I didn't need to do this.
The current situation wastes time. I should be able to click a button in Indesign (or any Adobe app that uses fonts) to "refresh fonts."

When creating hypertext links, please add the ability to configure the link to open in a new browser window.
Many of the PDFs I create are opened and viewed via Web browser. It's annoying to the user -- and takes them away from our content -- when they click on a link and the link opens in the same browser tab.

Global spellcheck that does not review Master pages
Have "Lorem Ipsum" default to "No Language" when used on master pages - or provide a spellcheck bypass of master pages option. We have deliverable templates that we are working from - but the designer used "Lorem Ipsum" for all the text including different paragraph styles. Or is there a way to globally select all text boxes on the 70 master pages - to change to a "no language" setting?

Allow recovery of work after clicking Do Not Save (by accident)
I have just lost hours (even days) of work. Please find some way to recover a document after clicking Do Not Save accidentally. This is soul-destroying, sleep-losing behaviour of an application. Microsoft have managed version history with Word and other office applications. It's high time Adobe did the same with InDesign. Right now, anyone who has been in the same boat will recognise the sick feeling.

Uniform behaviour of Compound Paths in InDesign and Illustrator
Illustrator gives full control over Compound Paths.
Unfortunately, when copying those in Illustrator and Paste in InDesign,
the Compound paths often don't survive in the correct way. Please let InDesign behave the same way as Illustrator.

zoom the index
I heavily use the Index tool which usually takes very long working hours, and find it increasinlgy damaging for my eyesight to stare at those tiny chacacters and boxes. I would find it very usefull if the dialogue box and its content could be expanded or zoomed, as the rest of workspace.
It would also be usefull if the text boxes could be bigger, so as to be able to see long iong index entries more easily. Thanks!2 votes -
3 new features for web address problems - a major problem in modern textual books
In textual books there now can be hundreds of web addresses used within the text and references. There is a major problem with them in the fact that in justified text they can cause:
(a) widely spaced lines
(b) InDesign can insert discretionary hyphens to try to split the address to make the word spacing better (which means that when printed the web address would be wrong for the reader as it has hyphens that shouldn't be there). The only workaround at the moment for this is to remove the discretionary hyphens by either hitting a return in its place, or inserting the Discretionary Break character to help InDesign find places to break the web address.
These, however, are not work arounds because the Break character or return means that in a PDF the link will not work as it sees these characters even if the reader doesn't. Even if you use the Hyperlink Panel in InDesign you would have to remove any discretionary hyphens or break characters from within the Hyperlink panel window for it to work. All this is extremely time-consuming.
SOLUTIONS
(1) New Website Character Style. If InDesign could have a special character style for web addresses so that when applied it would mean that no discretionary hyphens can appear, but the web address can split on any character.
(2) New Website Break Character. If InDesign could have a break character for web addresses that is not seen by Acrobat or the Hyperlink Panel in InDesign so that you can split websites wherever you want without them losing their link in PDFs.
(3) When a web address is very long and goes over several lines, it means that there will be lines with no word spaces. InDesign does not know what do and it will leave the lines short. If the Web Address Character Style could also feature a way of making the lines go to the full text measure but without too much letter spacing or scaling would be a big aid too.If the above solutions were made there would be no more problems in InDesign with web addresses. Remember that web addresses are being used more and more in books and interactive PDFs and this problem is only going to get bigger and bigger.
Please could you find a solution if you don't like mine!

Endnote text should appear in galley and story views in InCopy
They could work the same way that footnotes do, inside of a stylised bracket at the location of the note marker.

Show IDLK files in Bridge for Cloud workflows
With the pandemic we've shifted from an on-premises server (which was decent at stopping people going into the same file at the same time) to using Dropbox to perform the same functions. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to respect other people's IDLK files. Finder (Mac) and File Explorer (Windows) at least show you them, so you can avoid opening a file that someone's working on but in Bridge they're hidden and there's no obvious way of overriding this behaviour.
Could we see them please? Thank you!

Can you please add a Highlight Text feature?
Seems like this should have been included years ago. It would make it so much easier when reviewing/editing a document to highlight text which needs to be reviewed/confirmed, etc.

Interactive Form Fields need to be fully editable (i.e. Color, paragraph styles, Sample Text)
When exporting an Interactive PDF from InDesign, we still need to be able to assign Colors and Paragraph Styles AND retain the FPO copy we have typeset in the Text box.
For example, in my attached screenshot, when I choose to export as an Interactive PDF, I need to see all of the copy within the box show up exactly as shown. I have it set up so that it still feels slightly designed (despite being a form) and worded so that the client can follow along and replace certain parts with specific language. Right now upon export, this copy turns into black text without any of what's shown being retained and visible in the Interactive PDF.
Thank you!

There are Variables (Chapter number etc) keyboard shortcut options.
All of the text variables are missing from the keyboard shortcuts option. It would be helpful to have more options for creating shortcuts..

Text form field with several columns
In the case of a text form field, text areas that extend over several columns are automatically recognised and can also be continued in the form.
Good for the following use case: If templates are created where the text is displayed in columns, it would be good if the form fields could also be linked together. So that the maximum number of characters is automatically distributed over the specified number of columns.
