In-paragraph autonumerated lists
Quite often we have to create numbered lists, each element of which is a separate paragraph with a number or letter in front of it. But sometimes we need to build a long list that will be contained in one paragraph (enumeration), (for example, a) ...; b) ...; ... n) ... or 1) ...; 2) ...; ... 999). ). When such a list is being edited (its parts are added or deleted), such indexes also need to be edited manually, which takes a lot of time.
My idea is to add a new marker type (such as a page number marker), which will automatically increase or decrease when editing a paragraph (in the form of a number or a letter with additional symbols, for example, brackets). Let each paragraph can contain only one such list. In other paragraphs, if they will contain such lists, numeration will be restarted from beginning.
Texts using such lists are very common, but this task can not be done with scripts, because we need to use some sort of marker that changes all the time and can not be part of a text or a text variable. A character style can be assigned to the text which will replace of markers, from paragraph style.

Provide visual feedback when dragging items between layers
At the moment when you drag the box from one layer to another you can't see if you've grabbed it until you let it go. It can be fiddly sometimes to select it because it's quite small, so the dot becoming "live" and moving as you drag it would be a real help.

Option to make all stories in ID file editable by editors using InCopy
Why should I have to go through and export each story I want them to be able to edit? It would make more sense if I could tell ID that all the stories (or all of them except a few that I opt out) are to be editable by my editors. We don't use assignments. I export all the stories they need to be able to edit and they open the ID file in InCopy. But with dozens or hundreds of captions and other items in addition to main stories, it's quite annoying. I am curious what would make the current system necessary. Maybe there were programming or technological limitations 10-15 years ago that required it. I have been using both ID and IC since their beginnings and I recall IC being quite a pain in the early days, and it really hasn't changed much.
It would probably still be necessary to lock a story while someone's editing it, but beyond that why is the whole assignment/export for InCopy system still required in workflows that don't use assignments? Why should I have to go through and export each story I want them to be able to edit? Scripts integration in the InDesign Templates
Currently we're running the scripts for particular templates separately, but it'll be good, if we have an option in InDesign to integrate those scripts in the same templates. So running of scripts will become mandatory without depending on the users to run.

Need to include Blacklining option
Some of our clients requires Blacklining feature in InDesign to track the corrections between previous versions of InDesign, currently we're managing this requirement with third-part plugin, called Blacklining.

Drag text from CC libraries to existing line
When you drag text from the CC libraries into a text frame that has some text in it, the text you dragged won't be added to the line but it will create a new text frame.
I'd like it for the text to be added to a line in a text frame.
3 votesThanks for making this suggestion. Currently you can right click on the Text element in the Libraries Panel with your insertion pointer at the location where you would want the text to go.
Once you do this you get an option of Placing inline. This way you can insert the text at the exact same location.Let me know how this goes for you.

Consistent tool bars
Could you please place all the common tools in the same place in each program?
And when a number of degrees is typed for an object to rotate, could every program rotate the same direction please? E.g., Ill and INDD rotate clockwise while Pshop rotates counterclockwise. That makes no sense. Thanks

Relative path to linked excel tables and images
I have folders structure for my engineering report. I want to use it for other projects too. So I need possibility to set relative paths for linked tables and pictures to have possibility to copy whole report structure to the new place and repeate all calculations and make new report. Now I have to copy structure, rename old project folder to force InDesign to take new project folder, open new report book, update all links, save new report book with all documents. Restore name of old project folder.

Glossary
Microsoft Word had a really neat Glossary entry feature which allowed you to store your most commonly used words/phrases, and call them up with a key command. I have dumped Word in favor of using InDesign for all my word processing, since I can have style sheets and do everything else I want inside this wonderful program…except glossary feature. I don't know if that would add too much clutter to InDesign, which I wouldn't like, but if it could be added on, wow, would that be a powerful feature.

Help page gives incorrect information regarding PageMaker file conversion
Searched InDesign support for "pagemaker file conversion"
The top article (dated March 2017) is titled "Convert QuarkXPress and PageMaker documents to InDesign". Here's the address of this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/converting-quarkxpress-pagemaker-documents.html This article is part of the "InDesign CC User Guide." In the right hand column, it says it applies to InDesign CC. The first sentence in the Pagemaker section is "InDesign can convert document and template files from Adobe PageMaker 6.0 and later." It proceeds to give directions. I have come to find out that these instructions cannot be followed in InDesign CC, but only in InDesign CS6. This resulted in me wasting about an hour talking to Adobe's truly worthless support representatives.
This webpage needs to be corrected. Just replace that first sentence with: "InDesign CC cannot open or convert PageMaker files, but there is a solution. Start by downloading and installing InDesign CS6. Use CS6 to open and convert your PageMaker files (instructions below). After you save them as InDesign documents, you will be able to open them in InDesign CC."
It is clearly in Adobe's interest to help their customers avoid contact with the Adobe support staff. Correcting this webpage will be a move in that direction.Searched InDesign support for "pagemaker file conversion"

Allow object style to set the size of an object
One of my ongoing projects is design and layout of a scientific journal with 2 column pages. Columns are 264pt wide, and every issue has hundreds of images that have to be 264 pts wide. They all have the same object style applied. If it could specify their width and cause them to be resized as soon as I apply the style, it would save me a ton of time and repetition.
