Show preflight errors not at the margin of the screen
Preflight is showing the locations of the errors it has found somewhere in the margin of the screen. Sometimes at the top, sometimes at the bottom (see screenshots).
This is a bit annoying when taking a closer look. Any chance to change this to "in the middle of the screen"?3 votes -
[ID-4261554] InDesign MacOS Sequoia Window Snapping Feature
I'd appreciate if InDesign would implement window snapping feature as well in macOS Sequoia since all other Adobe apps have this already.

Drag and drop Parent Pages onto pages or pasteboard
Allow users to drag and drop parent pages onto actual pages (not in the pages panel) or pasteboard.
Dragging master pages onto pages would apply it to the page.
Dragging onto the pasteboard would apply it to the spread.3 votes -
A preset to limit your FONT view to preferred language, such as the one chosen by OS/region.
I have to use Noto Sans; Its required by my work at my University.
Is there a way to limit your font view to preferred language chosen by OS/region. My font menu is a mess of languages and it's hard to navigate to choose just "Noto Sans." Try it... really.. Try and Type "Noto Sans"... I never get the one I type it's always one of the other languages versions.
- So when a user choose their working language, InDesign offer them the right set of font.
Font lists are wayyyy tooooooo long to contain all the wolds languages by default! Let me have a shorter list, this should be an easy fix!
You would make lots of people happy!

rename character and paragraph styles using a batch renaming feature
It would be incredibly helpful if we could rename character and paragraph styles using a batch renaming feature, similar to what is available in Bridge. This would be especially beneficial when creating accessible PDFs through a Book file. When the same style names appear across different files, it causes tag issues during export via MadeToTag, requiring manual adjustments to all the styles. Since we frequently work with a variety of documents, this process becomes quite cumbersome over time. Thank you so much!

Please stop Find/Change Font defaulting to Minion
Please please please stop defaulting to Minion in Find/change fonts. I know this has been suggested, but this is a constant annoyance! Can someone at least make this intuitive and default either to the main font of the document or the font family that needs to be changed. This could be an option within the tool.
For instance, if the offending font is, say, Adobe Caslon [nothing], it stands to reason that the user might want it to change to a valid Adobe Caslon. Not that this is certain, but it's likely. So if the suggested font is in the Adobe Caslon family, it's quick and easy to change it.

Cascading Character Styles
A bit like CSS.
e.g. create a Style to make text Red, and a Style to make text Bold.
These Styles can be applied individually, or both.
This allows to make text Red OR Bold + Red AND Bold, with only two Styles.3 votes -
Miro/Keynote-style simplified pen tool and magnetising arrows for diagrams.
Often I have to make flow charts and diagrams for our projects, and the power of the hyper-manual pen tool and frames tends to show down the design process when compared to similar processes in Miro or Keynote. If there was a way to make a simple curved line and magnetise it to a text box that would make pushing around content 1000% faster.

Export Adobe PDF - General - Pages - CURRENT PAGE
Export Adobe PDF - General - Pages - "Current Page" only.
Each time I want to export just one page from one Indesign document I have to type the page number. There should be an option "Current Page" not only "All" and "Range"3 votes -
Vertical Type
Please add a Vertical Type tool like the one that is in Illustrator and Photoshop. The method of typing each letter on a line and returning after each is fine, but more time-consuming than it needs to be. The other method, using Type on a Path with a straight line and the stair step effect, does not produce aligned text.

An actually useful AI idea: Accessibility/Reading Order
I find many AI features unhelpful - if I need text to image I can do it in Photoshop or Express, I don't need my layout program to do it. What I would love to see AI do is be able to analyze documents and automatically fix accessibility issues, such as reading order and export tagging of headers etc.

Setting for location of new text-to-image generated images
Can there be a setting option for the default location of new text-to-image generated images - I would like to be able to set this to the folder containing the current document rather than the user/documents folder. Thanks!

MathML Fonts Configure and CMYK color Usage
Hello Experts,
I have an doubt on how to configure the Math job fonts (e.g., STIX General and Mathmatical PI and Symbol fonts etc.,) to new feature MathML.
The most of the Books and Journals are typeset in base Job fonts, please guide me how to configure the fonts in MathML new feature and also is it possible to apply the CMYK color?
If we used in MathType it's very hard to manage the fonts, from system to system user editing the equations (eps format) if the fonts not installed and clash then the equations are shown empty box appeared in MathType Eps file.
I thankful to introduce the MathML technology in build in Adobe InDesign, however upcoming new version will full fill my request.
Thanks for your guidance and support.

In Find/replace be able to find specifically an upper or lower case version of the search
Several fonts have kerning issues. Specifically capital Y and lower case o like in words such as You. The Yo tends to look like Y ou. Lowercase usually looks fine. The request is to be able to find specifically a cap or lower case version of a letter or group of letters. In the Y o example putting a negative tracking on the Y will make it once again look like Yo without having to find and fix in excess of 80 You, yours, etc. per file.

Place Images Behind Text Without Outlines
Description:
In Adobe InDesign, there is currently no option to place images behind text without converting the text to outlines or paths. In Photoshop, this is easily achieved using layer masks and clipping masks. It would be highly beneficial to have a similar feature in InDesign, allowing users to place images directly behind text that can still be edited (font, size, and content) without converting it to outlines.Benefits for Users:
Increased flexibility and efficiency when working with text and images
Ability to maintain the editability of the text (users can continue to adjust font, size, and wording)
More intuitive design options, especially for users familiar with both Photoshop and InDesign
Reduces the need for complex workarounds and saves time by allowing direct, flexible adjustments to text and image placement
Feature Suggestion:
Introduce a new option allowing users to use text as a transparent "mask" through which an underlying image layer is visible. This could be implemented as a "Layer Mask" or "Image Mask" feature, functioning similarly to clipping masks in Photoshop.Description:

Please create an option in Layout > Table of Contents to "Clear Character Styles" for the "Styles in Table of Contents."
Currently (v19.5 in 2024), any Paragraph Styles used in the "Styles in Table of Contents" carries over any associated Character Styles, which makes a real mess of the ToC Entries. We can manually reapply the ToC style to the entries after updating it, but there should be an option to automatically clear character styles from the Paragraph Styles added to the ToC.

Plug-in API to temporarily disable new feature guided tours
InDesign 2025 has several new panels (History, Math Expressions, Export to Adobe Express, Insert MathML) which have associated guided “tours” which bring up windows containing animation and/or an explanation of the new feature and how to use it. The menu items for these new panels that have available guided tours are indicated by a blue dot next to the menu item before the guided tour is viewed by the user. After the guided tour has been viewed, the blue dots next to the menu items seem to disappear. These new panels and their associated guided tours sometimes open without the user choosing the related menu item. We have already reported a crash that our InDesign plug-in is having related to the History panel and our plug-in's undoing of named command sequences (bug #ID-4252030). Adobe Developer Support's solution to that issue was to have our plug-in close the History panel (using its actionID) before starting our process. We added code to close the History panel if it is open, but what we are seeing now is that the History panel can start off closed at the start of our process but then it opens with the guided tour window during the process. Rather than having our plug-in constantly checking whether the History panel is open, it would be useful to have a plug-in API that temporarily disables the automatic opening of new feature panels and related guided tour windows.

Make background progress more visible
When InDesign is busy with a long running task, it isn't obvious without opening the rather janky Background Tasks window. Please add a small progressbar in the footer of the InDesign indicating that it is actually doing something and not just hung. I've used InDesign for years and only just now learned that the Background Tasks window exists. It's a very bizarre and non-obvious approach to showing the user that something is still happening in the background...
