  1. Remove "Publication must be saved before continuing" workflow requirement.

The requirement to save a file before creating a package is cumbersome. Often, I am saving a package to a new location to use as a starting point for a new project, or a creating a new separate version. Saving it requires potential alterations to be saved in the original file. Even without modifying the file, updated links or fonts might saved or broken.

One can Save As first, as a workaround, but this is the cumbersome second step. Creating a package from any open file without first saving it should be possible.

  2. When choosing to link a button to a page, remove hard coding of links to a page even if it gets moved.

I have discovered an "error" or possible limitation of an existing feature when linking to pages through buttons.

For example, I set a button to go to page 9. Later I drug that content to a new location in the document (page 2), thus changing it's page number. However, the button no longer went to the content that was now on page 9, it jumped to the content that was original there when I set that button.

Can we have the set page number option just link to the current page even if content was moved around after setting up…

  4. Imposition of file for printing

Hi, Can we expect option for imposition of file for printing, like small artwork in multiple ups in printing size, pagination for center pinning/section sewing etc, with bleed & other option, so we can save time of using third party software or imposing in printer.

    Thank you :)

  5. Align to column function

InDesign really needs an align to column function, especially for centering objects within a column. This seems to be a really simple oversight.

  6. Support for Mac Number

It would be nice if data fusion also worked with Mac Numbers without the need to export to an Excel format. It would greatly improve workflow for Numbers users.

  7. Numbering Pages

I wish you could make it easy to number pages - as easy as on Word. It is so complicated on InDesign and I have failed to make it work. As a result, I have had to publish books without numbered pages, and that is frustrating for all.

  8. Indexing by paragraph style...like TOC feature.

Useful for creating a roster for a large group. You would be able to create an index by paragraph style, like the functionality of Table of Contents, except that the same name on different pages wouldn't create a new entry.

  9. rotate item to match angle of another object, line segment, or curve point (add this to illustrator too please)

Fairly frequently as part of manipulating objects and graphics I need to rotate an object to align with the angle of another item or line segment. This is time consuming currently as I have to create a new orthogonal line, align it to touch a point on the reference object and then rotate both the new line and the other object with a set rotation point until the 'smart'guide' tells me ive intersected the reference line with my rotation. It would be much easier if rotation had an additional tool or in-guild feature where you could rotate an item -…

  10. Scaling with conditional text

When scaling a text box allow all hidden conditional text to scale. As of now only the visible text scales. This is extremely inconvenient when working with a lot of conditional text,

  11. Import pdf comments - make easier to copy comments, UI improvements

    Hi!

Make easier to copy all or part of the comments:

    • currently the selection cursor doesn't appear until it's very close to the text. Make it appear immediately when it's touching the right or left edge of the comment (not the text edge).

    • make it more compact for PC screens (not tablets, etc). There's too much empty space and padding which means more scrolling. E.g. 1) Leftmost side is kind of mostly empty, except containing the icon of the commenting user. 2) Page number line only contains page number and could have less padding. 3) Resolve/Accept buttons line only contains…

  12. Find / Change Format enhancements (find font variants / implement NOT logic)

I've just been conducting extensive Find / Replace operations on a number of documents, and I've been struck with a way to streamline certain operations. It's currently possible to find specific formats, either specifics relating to the typeface(s) used, size, leading, etc.; or search for specific character and / or paragraph styles.

When searching for specifics, it would be useful to be able to search for a more generic usage of 'Italic', say - so, if you search for 'Italic', it would match 'Italic', 'Bold Italic', '500 Italic', 'Oblique' etc. Currently you must search for every iteration of italic based…

  13. To add an option to add a customized numbering format.

Is there the feature to add a customized numbering format? I do not think InDesign has thus I would like to request the feature. There are several languages in the world and their own alphabets. As there are already created numbering formats such as "a, b, c,...." that falls under English alphabets under 'Bullets and Numbering', there should be the feature to create such numbering format as per the alphabets of other languages too. Thanks.

  14. Graphic/Image Gallery

A gallery displaying all included graphics/ images. I use Adobe Bridge for this, but having it incorporated into InDesign would be snazzy.

The feature would be very handy, if one has to pull out and rearrange a large number of graphics, to just drag them out from and then back in to the spread. If they are placed out on the pasteboard, I often 'lose' them and have to scroll up and down to find where they are 'parked'.

I have had to drag all the graphics out

  15. Inadvertently dragging image frame contents instead of moving frame.

I am frequently inadvertently dragging the contents of an image frame (photograph) out of the frame, instead of moving the frame itself. This is even while the Select Tool is chosen.

It seems to matter whether the frame was previously selected and where in the frame you click/drag.

I would like this to only be possible with the Direct Selection Tool.
Or at least, an option that can turn off this frustrating 'feature'.

  16. Required Font Usage Pallet In Floatting with adjustable size

The Font Usage or Find/Replace Font windows need to be redesigned as like link panel. This existing window/dialogue box is not user friendly.

List of issues which has to be addressed:
The windows is not sizable, so if we have a font with lengthy name, then some characters will be hidden at the end.
We can only view 7 fonts at a time, so if a document uses more that this count. We need to scroll for long way and which is a tedious task. That portion of window should be sizable as like link pallet.
    Once we accessed the…

  17. PDF of thumbnails of file

This is a basic feature request. Let me send clients a 2x2 or 3x3 thumbnail PDS for easy printing and comparison. Currently, the print dialog box says PDF of thumbnails not supported.

  18. Hyperlink Window Add-on Feature

I know i'm not the only one who uses the typography workspace. But when creating an interactive PDF or E-Catalog of sorts hyperlinks can be one of the finest features. The problem: editing said hyperlinks. Not the editing of the links themselves but the fact that in order to we have to have our type cursor in or on the link. What about adding a button in the hyperlink window to speed up workflow for individuals who use the hyperlinks exclusively?

  19. Hierarchical styles in panels

Design the styles panels to show "based on" hierarchically. This way, we can trace back unused styles to their sources. I use a script to find "based on" for paragraph styles, but it would be better to visualize it.

  20. Include 2 or 3 InCopy licenses in CC or InDesign subscriptions or MAKE IT FREE!

InCopy is a great collaboration tool between two or more people.

But the way Creative Cloud subscription is going, InDesign is a powerful tool to me, but InCopy is totally USELESS. As a designer (not writer), I never need to use InDesign and InCopy at same time. In fact, I never need to use InCopy myself at all. InDesign along with InCopy suppose at least two people working on same job. Most of time the writer, who could actually use InCopy, is my client. It makes no sense to include InDesign and InCopy expecting that the same person will use…
