1. Instead of allowing objects to leave the pasteboard, just move them to the edge of the pasteboard

   I often place and then resize images in InDesign. Very often when I go to resize an image, I get the error "This would cause one or more objects to leave the pasteboard" and I can't actually resize all the way down to a manageable size—I have to move the entire image somewhere random and try to resize, or just resize in increments, move the image, and resize again.

   I understand that I don't want objects to leave the pasteboard. But if an object is about to leave the pasteboard, why can't it just move to the edge of the pasteboard instead?

   Anchored objects can have a setting where they are not allowed to leave the column boundaries on the page. It seems like there should be a way to make objects not be allowed to leave the pasteboard regardless of its XY coordinates. If the user tries to set XY coordinates (or makes a change that would also change the XY coordinates) to something outside of the pasteboard range, the XY coordinates of the object should instead be set to just inside the pasteboard range.

2. Hyperlink updates

   It seems odd that there is no way to have hyperlinks open in new windows, or have noopener/noreferrer options. The new window would make exported pdfs much easier to use especially since most browsers open pdf links instead of having the document downloaded. And, given the nature of the internet these days, making all links default to a rel="noreferrer noopener" seems like a smart idea to make links safer to use.

3. Possibility to change the color of an SVG icon

   SVG icons are usually single color (black). It would be nice if the color can be changed in Indesign. Now this can be done with the Inner Glow Effect, but a simple direct color selector would be much easier.

6. Make it easier to find the option for 4-page spreads.

   The User Guide needs to include information about creating 4-page spreads. For book editing, seeing 8 pages at a time is great (on a larger monitor screen, which as a book publisher I use.). The Page function allows a 4-page spread, or more, when the user disables the Shuffle setting and drags and connects 4 pages together horizontally in the page view. Fine. I found this out on some non-Adobe graphic design forum by luck. This wasn't anywhere in the Adobe InDesign help or user information that I could find. Include this in the User Guide! Improve it so it's labeled better. We can then re-enable Shuffle, with a 4-page spread. I didn't reset my whole 150 page book because I would have to do so manually. Perhaps If I had made my first spread 4-pages, and then placed text automatically it would have created more pages in the 4-page spread view. If that isn't the case, can you offer this? This would great for books, as we can better cut and paste and look for repeated phrases, etc. when viewing two 4-page spreads, for a total of viewing 8 pages at time, instead of 4 pages at a time, the usual view.

7. Live captions with artboard names

   We create a lot of print files for clients in illustrator and proof them in InDesign. It would be great if we could import live captions for the artboard names of Illustrator files to save us having to type these out every time.

9. Tab in footnote prefix for aligned decimals

   I have a document with over 100 footnotes. I need to align the decimals of every footnote. To do this, I expected to be able to set up in the footnote style an "align to decimal" tab, and then a "justify left" tab for the footnote content, and then a TAB prefix in the "Document Footnote Options." However, there seems to be no way to place a tab as a Footnote text prefix. Entering ^t does nothing, and it gets cleared as soon as I close the options window. Other text or even special characters like ^r for registered trademark work.

   We really should be able to place a tab as a footnote prefix.

10. Use relevant error messages

    "Cannot copy necessary linked file(s)"
    "Failed To Export The PDF File"
    These messages sucks. Why keeping the reasons in secret?
    Which file cannot copied? On which page/object failed the export?
    Users spend many working hours to find the problem, which ID have to know, but don't publish.

11. Generate QR code, new feature: add image in center

    It is possible to put a small image in the center of QR codes. It the image is small enough, the QR code remains readable. It would be nice to be able to include an image with the Generate QR Code feature of Indesign. The size should be adaptable. Indesign either checks if the code still works or the user has to test this. If the image is an SVG icon (e.g. the LinkedIn logo), it should be possible to change its color.

12. Apply gabarits with conditions

    Hello, after a long research, I notice that there is no possibility to apply gabarits according to rules (presence of text, grep, presence of image, percentage of filled text block, presence of style, etc.) to specific pages (on the first/last page, between some pages, grep-like operation, etc.). This could be done by giving several templates to a page and giving rules to choose which one to apply (with an option to choose the pages dynamically).
    For my part, I'm desperately looking for a dynamic and automated way to hide the folio/page number when it's an empty (no text) or almost empty page. This is the case for pages before chapters (1 or 2 pages). This could be one of the many applications of this feature

13. Place Linked IDMS

    It would be awesome if we could link a IDMS file or be able to add a InDesign file to CC Libraries and be able to place that into another InDesign file. This would be great for reusing pieces of text or layout that occasionally gets updated in multiple documents. When place the IMDS there could be an option to keep the link so if the version in the library is updated so is the placed version or to place a copy that does not stay associated with the one in the Library.

    I know it is possible to place inDesign Documents in a InDesign document and a possible work-around would be to save the InDesign File - Place the Placed InDesign file in another file and the add to the Library but it creates a extra step in creation and editing.

14. Composite fonts cannot be renamed.

    InDesign Japanese version cannot rename composite fonts.
    This is inconvenient.

15. InDesign - Lightroom "Edit with"

    I really wish I could easily go between Lightroom and InDesign. I regularly create proposals etc in InDesign and load in images that print dark. I would love the ability to right click and edit in Lightroom. Lightroom is far better/intuitive for me for basic edits of images than Photoshop. You offer Edit in: Photoshop, After effects etc. In Premiere you offer many options but not Lightroom. Seems like it would (as a side benefit) encourage use of another of your products.

16. Open maximised documents as NO Tabs...

    ...AND retain menu bar + all tools...
    (We can browse open pages with ctrl + ` - tabs are not needed!)
    It could help spare some place we're loosing for unneeded, visible all the time, tabs now.

    Similar problem - menu bar is so big... :/ It takes space, too. Couldn't be thinner? :/

17. Letters after a number i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th to automatically beocme supersrcipt while typing

    InDesign to recognise the "st", "nd", "rd", and "th" after a number and make it superscript for numbers.

18. Merge Features of Share for Review into Publish Online

    Looking at all of the different feature request posted for "Share for Review" I feel it would almost be better to just merge the "Share for Review" features into the "Publish Online" since it already has many of the requested features like setting PDF quality, being able to select the number of pages, print as spreads, ect... The only thing it is missing is the ability to make it invite only and the commenting features. That way instead of two tools there is one. Maybe it has an option that when selected it adds the "Review Features" and if not selected it stays as a Publish Online document.

    Olá! Seria de grande utilidade se houvesse uma opção de sempre manter o controle de alterações ativo no Incopy, mesmo em arquivos novos. O que acontece na minha empresa é muitas vezes começarmos uma tarefa e só horas depois percebermos que o controle estava desativado. Nesse caso, não há registro das marcações feitas até então. 20. If short form for the unit Points is "pkt" in could "pt" be accepted as alias instead of giving error message?

    In Swedish version of InDesign (and other Adobe Apps) to enter a unit in points we must type "pkt" where I believe most languages accept "pt". It would be a better experience for the user if the software would accept either "pt" or "pkt", especially if teaching a class where there are users with different language versions following the same instructions. There is no point in receiving an error that an invalid unit has been entered if the intent is clear, and unambiguous.

    Please change so that either pt or pkt can be entered as unit, that the unit is displayed as pkt is not a problem (I can enter units in Pica,mm, cm and more why can teh software not simply make a conversion that 12pt = 12pkt).

    I am not sure if there is similar problem with units in other languages.
