PLEASE!! Remove "Synchronize styles accross book" button
PLEASE!! Remove "Synchronize styles accross book" button or at least add a "are you sure" confirm button.
This is an irreversible action which can mess all documents within a book without the option to undo it.... AND IS NEXT TO "SAVE BOOK" BUTTON.
You are just one pixel away from destroying your project instead of saving it!

Set the baseline of the first line of an object to the actual height of the first line of text
There is no standard in fonts what to use for the value of ascend. Some use the height of, say, the 'k' character. Others enter the highest glyph (including those with diacritics). Basically, that means that using ascend for the first baseline is unreliable if fonts change. The best solution would be to calculate the actual 'max glyph height' of what is actually on the first line so that the text fits exactly to the top of the frame. Using 'cap height' is not a prefect solution too as some fonts have a cap height that is smaller than e.g.…

Warn before converting document
When opening an indesign document created in older version, on a newer indesign version, the newer version MUST post a warning dialogue box before converting the document.
BECAUSE if a designer works for two different client, where a client wants indesign version X, why the other client wants indesign version Y, then the designser should not by mistake convert the older version into a newer version, and not discovering this mistake only after its too late.

An option to rotate multiple items around their individual centers
I'd love to be able to use a modifier with the Rotate Tool and rotate multiple selected items around their individual anchor points.

Scale stroke proportionaly in object-based rule il liquid layout
The stroke doesn't scale when changing page size either manually or with the page tool in object-based rule in the liquid layout. It does work in scale rule. It would be great if there was an option to choose between scaling the stroke or not.

Multi Level Object Lock
Instead of faffing around with Layers, it would sometimes be handy to quickly be able to lock objects at multiple levels, so that when you want to unlock a specific object on a specific layer, it doesn't unlock every layer.
For example if you have 3 objects overlaying each other you could lock the lowest object by holding 'Ctrl' and tapping 'L' 3 times, twice for the second layer, etc.
To unlock, 'Ctrl' + 'Shift' + 'L', tapping L as many times as required depending on the layer.

Toggle off onscreen visibility of Endnotes markers
Endnotes imported from Word are marked in InDesign by blue L-shaped brackets at the beginning and end of each note. Why can't the onscreen visibility of these characters be toggled off with Type > Hide Hidden Characters.
The blue brackets are enormously annoying when making onscreen assessments of full-page typography issues.
(Yes, I realize that the brackets cannot be removed and do not print, but I would like to have option of making them invisible onscreen.)1 vote -
InCopy share for review
Share for review feature should be add also to InCopy, so the editors can share texts with authors for feedback without having InDesign.

Path to images in linked InDesign documents not adjusted when packaged
I have packaged an InDesign document with linked InDesign documents for the printer. The images inside the packaged InDesign files have the wrong path, it has not been adjusted to the packaged images.
Our printer has printed the product therefor without the linked images which is a desaster. Please fix linked image paths within linked InDesign documents.

Enlarge maximum image export sizes
I work for a company which uses InDesign for webtoon-style comic content. These are often extremely long vertical images (10000-20000px is common). When attempting to export to JPG/PNG for processing, InDesign will not process the larger files, claiming that they exceed the maximum size, even at resolutions as low as 200dpi (webtoons typically go online at 350dpi so these images need to be upscaled).
Exporting to PDF and re-exporting to the relevant image format allows the images to export at size, but often with additional scaling and does not 1:1 match the original pixel size.
This clearly isn't a limit…

Add Speech bubbles for comics
I am using object styles to make great narration boxes and keeping the style and size in sync throughout my comics, but I can't find a way to make a shape that I can control to make the speech bubbles, and connect shapes between them.

Object Styles Positioning from inner margin (spine)
For the last few years or from as long as I can remember, I am having to have two styles for each action. So the most simple action I do is a Full Page bleed image box. On the outer margin it has an additional 3mm. This is set from the inner margin out. However I have to always create to styles, one for the left and page and one for the right. It would be so useful to have 'from Spine' as an option as a reference point.

Selected Page Count in InDesign's Pages Panel
Please add a visible count of selected pages in the Pages panel.
This could be displayed on hover or added to the existing status text - "X pages in Y spread".
This feature would replace the current, less intuitive method of calculating page count via "move pages" for instance.
Potential use-cases:- Quick calculations of chapter lengths.
- Determining page ranges for specific paper types, e.g., those requiring division into 16 pages.
Please consider adding this feature to improve InDesign's functionality.
I provided a very quick mockup for how this could be shown.
Thank you.

paragraph alignment
Paragraph alignment is not displaying correctly when it is used on tables created in previous files, even though you are in a new or an old document. The only way to do it is by using cell insets on the properties tab. So it makes it useless unless you create new tables with new formats. It would be great to fix this bug so the alignments are displayed in the paragraph alignment tab, and make cell insets a new tab so I can see specifically this option on the main windows.

RESIZING THE DOCUMENT WINDOW!!!!!
I shouldn't have to re-size the window EVERY time I open the app, or a document -- and even if you can't fix that, it shouldn't be so hard to re-size the **** thing! I'm sick of having to spend five minutes every time I open the app just getting the window to be the shape and size that I want! On Mac, moving the mouse to the lower right corner (which I have to do to resize the **** window) causes a contextual menu to pop up if I don't grab fast enough. Even if I do get ahold…

Same Gradient-Tool as in Premiere Pro?
In generell - why not make all tools more consitent? Gradients in InDesign are still way behind Illustrator, while both lack the elegant, intuitive rubber band of Premiere Pro's gradients. I think, everyone would love the Premiere Pro-version in InDesign (and Illustrator, too, because it doesn't feel that fluid there!).

Cross-check links used on both ways
Hi, the idea is to be able to check the links that a certain file (let's call file A) is being linked to.
The file A can be used as a link on files 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.... so when I open file 1 and go to the links panels I can see my file A listed there. Right? But not the other way around, such as we can't see the files (1,2,3...) in which that one file (file A) is linked to unless we go one by one (1,2,3...). Would be great to have a link to and…

Please allow the option to put a published link that was deleted on accident in the trash instead of it being gone forever & one can restore
Please allow the option to put a published link that was deleted on accident in the trash instead of it being gone forever & one can restore.
My computer files got deleted, and then it decided to die all together, so I can't republish or update the existing link to my InDesign project. I tried on another computer but it's just not working.https://indd.adobe.com/view/6b986399-510f-4d0f-add0-187a36db3023

More responsive UX on macOS
Many macOS users will agree that InDesign feels veery laggy compared to other apps (like Affinity Publisher for example). I really wish you could finally implement a more responsive UI with native macOS UI components instead of scroll views that scroll like it's 1999! :)
Adobe XD is a really good example of what I mean by "responsive" UX on macOS. I understand that XD is much younger than InDesign, but if you don't want to miss out on the next generation of graphic designers, you should really do something about it.P.S.: I can't speak for the Windows people.…
