To identify the cause of this issue, we started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2025(v20.0.0.095) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

Hey Adobe, could you please finally implement real Variable Font support? I just tried the latest build (15.0.3.422) and it is still not working.

Hello, is this a very late April Fool's joke?
The issue was NOT fixed at all.
When I try to use the slider, all I get is a the lightest instance. There is no way to select preferred wight (in case of my test font).
I can select predefined instances, that's all. Please check the functionality before you announce bug correction next time.

This is another example of a Variable Font not working in Adobe InDesign CC 2020. If the font contains predefined instances (Regular, Medium, Bold etc.), you cannot use the slider in InDesign. The only solution is to keep one instance in the font (Regular), but this is not a solution users expect. Please correct VF support in InDesign.

Hi,
Did it work in previous versions of InDesign? Or only started happening after InDesign 15.1.1?Which font are you using?

I have the same problem. I have a complex document and I can see spinning wheel many times a day. I have to kill and restart InDesign again and again. Ten times a day. I feel 1990s are back. Very frustrating, I do not have the same bad experience with CS6 which is luckily still my main app.
