You can do that with this work around (and that's even better, because more flexible):
Place your PDF or InDesign like a graphics into a new document, page sized at the final needed output size.
Export as PDF. I do this for years on banner displays, when A4 prints are wanted.
@Janus: sure, what is important is that we can map the different font styles to one system. Today, I would call it a virtual font style. But as not all fonts have the same styles, it would still be interesting to have a custom mapping table.
