Hi,
We have been able to reproduce the issue and it is currently under investigation.—
Adobe InDesign TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Diane commentedI see the acknowledgement that this is a bug (and a critical one), but where is the fix? I searched for hours trying to figure out why InDesign was hanging when I tried to export my epub. It would be nice if it at least threw an error that would tell us what to do to get our epub to export. I have wasted hours of non-billable time on this bug.

We've just released InDesign 17.2.1 version which addresses this issue.
Please update to this latest version using Creative Cloud Desktop application.
In case the fix does not work immediately for you, please try the following:
1) Quit InDesign.
2) Delete the following:
on Mac:
/Users/[yourname]/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign
/Users/[yourname]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign
on Win:
C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign
C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign
Relaunch InDesign & see if it works properly now.

An error occurred while saving the comment Diane commentedI ended up replacing the font in my books so the printer would process them correctly. I'm not sure I trusted any PDF setting to fix the problem that showed up only in their RIP, and we were losing too much time on a project that was already overdue. See the link that Uwe posted for my topic on the forum.

Adobe InDesign teamAn error occurred while saving the comment Diane commentedThe beta fixed the problem I documented here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/line-and-text-selection-id-2020-bug/m-p/10740105#M160793
Split columns of 3 or fewer items now flow correctly, and I can click into the first lines of the split columns and select text without issue. I, however, cannot switch into 2020 for my work flow until the fix is in a public release. I work with a whole team of people who open my files. They need the fix too. Thanks!
Diane supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Diane commentedI also have this problem. I posted in the community forum with samples.

I have started having this issue with the latest version of InDesign (19.4) and it's driving me nuts. I just tried backing down to 19.3 and it still won't update the review copy. Half the time it throws the error, and the other half it says it updated, but the actual file in the browser is old. I used this feature successfully last year, so I may need to back all the way up to 2023 version so I can work with my client.
