To identify the cause of this issue, we started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2025(v20.0.0.095) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commented15.1.2: still the same bad refresh after changing / deleting something like pieces of text.
In the meantime, I believe it could have something to do with the fact that the doc that I'm working in is part of a Book. And that Book file is open and active when I have this screen refresh problem, and no longer after I closed that Book...
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedThis happens to me since long, first time I report it here:
Working in a document of ± 40pages. When I change the para style of one or more paragraphes, Indesign can't keep up the screen display with this change and shows the old AND the new situation at the same time on the screen. When moving to a new spread and going back to this page, MOST OF THE TIME it's alright. But very annoying. This has been happening at least since versions 2019.Using iMac 2015, 24 GB RAM, latest macOS, ID 15.1.1
PS: this bug-page is also annoying (place bug idea ??) , slow, Adobe unworthy (???)

We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

The InDesign team appreciates your valuable feedback and concerns. These go a long way in helping us make InDesign better for you and update it continuously to cater to evolving user needs. The app bar design was changed as part of these improvement efforts, and will also help us in introducing some modern and exciting functionalities which we have been working on.
While doing this, we have taken care not to remove any existing functionalities which were available in the previous App Bar design. These have only been relocated – either grouped along with similar functionalities (based on results from our user research) or shifted to improve usability (to provide a consistent experience) while working across Creative Cloud apps, especially Photoshop (Ps) & Illustrator (Ai), which are frequently used by InDesign users. We do understand that it takes time & effort in adopting these but we sincerely hope that the…

Adobe InDesign teamAn error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedIndesign march 2020: still no good: vent still blowing with a lot of noise because of more than 100 % CPU usage (iMac latest software Catalina). I can kill the process (force quit) and then it stays away for some time. Does anyone of the adobe staff read this??
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedI just found that https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/high_cpu_usage_cephtmlengine.html is a little outdated but it goes like this:
Shut down all Adobe apps.
right-click on Indesign app > show package content > Contents> > Resources > CEP > extensions > com.adobe.DesignLibraries.angular
Delete all contents of this last folder (after a backup of this folder) and replace it with the contents of the downloaded DL 2.2.4 folder
Also do this for PS and AI
I've done so, am still monitoring if this is a solution, but the apps work fine seemingly.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedCEPHtmlEngine (as seen in activity monitor)
What's this??
Using Indesign CC 2020 on Macos Catalina 10.15.1
Sometimes one of these CEPHtmlEngines (7 or 8, I don't know what these processes do, and 'helpers') uses to 80%, the fan goes up, sometimes a beachball. What can I do to ged rid of this??
