If you replace the quotation marks in the fields of the index entries with inch marks in the Word document, the index entries will also be created correctly via the InDesign import.
e.g.:
from: Timothy Snyder { XE ”Snyder, Timothy“ }
to: Timothy Snyder { XE "Snyder, Timothy" }I think that the problem here is more on Word's side.
Great idea! Helpful would be also the consideration at line breaks, as it is done with the CSS property `box-decoration-break = clone` https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/box-decoration-break?retiredLocale=de
