Import from Microsoft Word (MacOS, version 16.59) docx. Links in Indesign are not created correctly. (see attached screenshot)
If you look into IDML, no hyperlink element is created.

The fix is now publicly available in the latest InDesign update, 15.1.1

If you replace the quotation marks in the fields of the index entries with inch marks in the Word document, the index entries will also be created correctly via the InDesign import.
e.g.:
from: Timothy Snyder { XE ”Snyder, Timothy“ }
to: Timothy Snyder { XE "Snyder, Timothy" }
I think that the problem here is more on Word's side.
