Installing InDesign 2024 wiped all my preferences and workspaces
Just as the title said - preferences and workspaces wiped, despite ensuring the checkbox 'import exisiting preferences' was turned on during install.
The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.0.1.205). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

Do we know if this is fixed in 19.0.1? Don't really want to go through the pain of update/uninstall/reinstall if it is not.

Does this also mean that the quality level of the jpegs will be better too? They are soft and nasty compared to what was being produced in 2023

Same stuff happening here. But re-choosing my workspace gave me back all my pre-sets, shortcut keys and layout. But I am getting some crashes. Also it really seems slow. I 'accidently' - so to speak - updated. I NEVER update until at least x.1 versions of anything. Yet here I am. Also a pain is resaving every file into the new format, knowing all those files now need v19 to read them. This has been a problem for..... ever! With InDesign. Why does Photoshop and Illustrator have the semi-automatic ability to save in an older format or be readable by older software? InDesign should be made to just not allow some new features if you've used those new features in the new version. no? I know... I'm no software engineer but if I was.... I would try to make things work better. Especially since the subscription format is obviously raking in much more than the old way.

Somehow I am not surprised this made it into the release channel. Fortunately I had a useable backup.
Looks like I am on 18.3 for the foreseeable future as every release since has caused me problems. What a joke.

Same issue, have moved back to 18.5 in the meantime.

Also (not sure if related) but I cannot even manually load any of my old Preflight Profiles via [Define Profiles]. When I hit the LOAD PROFILE button, it allows me to locate and choose a file, I hit open, but then it jumps right back to the Preflight Profiles dialog without actually loading anything.

What a nightmare. All of my document presets were wiped.
Lets hope they, at least, fix the issue with iD crashing all day long. I'm not hopeful.
Adobe is just asking for another reliable developer to come along and challenge them. -

… same problem here.
also: every time i recreat my preferences and workspaces (which takes time and is extremely important for my workflow) indesign keeps crashing after restart.only if i delete cache and preferences i can actually use indesign at the moment.
extremely unhappy about this.
how much time do you think i have »trying« your new updates that don‘t really give anything groundbraking anyways?please fix this asap.

Auto-update to 19.0 trashed my prefs without even giving me an option. Hours to rebuild everything during my busiest time of the year. This is my livelihood, people. Adobe products used to be stable and reliable. As soon as you went to a subscription model, everything went to he**, just one problem after another and costs me time and money. And yet you keep consistently raising your prices, without fail. If I were a younger designer, I would decamp to Affinity. Instead I'm a prisoner to this abusive relationship and pay $100 a month for the privilege.

Same problem, wiped all preferences and workspaces in 2024, reinstalled 2023 and they work fine there

How is this not patched yet?

I've voted for this as well. As already stated, nearly 2 decades of adjustments to getting and keeping InDesign to work the way I want it to and now all gone. Of course I still have my back up of 2023 preferences, but just need 2024 patched so it quits erasing and resetting everything.

Same issue here, definitely going back to a previous version until this is fixed!

It takes a lot of time to get Indesign working just the way you want it... please don't make us do all that work again Adobe. Everything's gone - like whether the 'donut' appears on pictures, the display quality, the measurement units, the dark/light background, the keyboard shortcuts, the list goes on. I can't afford the time - I'm uninstalling until this gets fixed!

I had the same issue. Macbook pro 13", 2020, M1, OS 14.0.
Never had this issue before. The preferences didn't work in the new version but were intact and I could restore them and use the older version normally.

YUP. SO IRRITATING!! The error message is ridiculous and condescending too. "Indesign preferences were created with a different version of Adobe InDesign." Yeah....no sh** where else would they be created? You ask if prefs want to be imported when updating, we say yes, and then you wipe them out anyway. And if you're wondering, no, I'm not trying to update from CS2 or something....just going from the latest 2023 to 2024 like everyone else. Thanks Adobe.

InDesign 2024 (19.0) - Missing Document Presets (File→New→Document).
Just shows the standard sizes. All my preset documents from the previous version are missing.
