Numbers keys on extended keyboard not recognized when trying to fit window e.g.Ctrl+0.
Numbers keys on extended keyboard not recognized when trying to fit window e.g.Ctrl+0.
InDesign should have the same fit to window or 100% functions as Illustrator or Photoshop.
The only thing that does work on the extended numeric keypad is the + and - keys.

Inconsistent names of spaces in Czech UI
There is a mess in the names of spaces in Czech UI. The names of spaces are not consistent:
Em Space = "Em mezera" or "Dlouhá mezera"
En Space = "En mezera" or "Krátká mezera"
Nonbreaking Space = "Pevná mezera" or "Nedělitelná mezera"Depending on the situation, the user sees either one or the other name for an identical space.
I suggest to:
1. Use "En mezera" and "Em mezera" only. It is not the traditional Czech name, it is an Anglicism, but quite widespread and understandable
2. Use "Čtverčíková mezera" and "Půlčtverčíková mezera", the traditional typographic terms, nevertheless some may find it obsoleteTerms "Dlouhá mezera" and "Krátká mezera" are confusing. It means "Long space" and "Short space". But how long? What does short means? It indicates that it is shorter than the default space, but it is actually wider. Both terms were never used in Czech language. Professionals use "Čtverčíková mezera", young people use "Em mezera". No one would ever use "Dlouhá mezera".
As for the nonbreaking spaces, correct options for "Nonbreaking space" and "Nonbreaking space (fixed width)" are:
Nedělitená mezera
Nedělitená mezera (pevná šířka)
or
Nezlomitelná mezera
Pevná mezera
or
Nedělitená mezera
Pevná mezeraExplanation:
"Nedělitelná mezera" or "Nezlomitelná mezera" is the correct term for Nonbreaking space of variable width
"Pevná mezera" is the correct name for Nonbreaking space of fixed width
"Nedělitelná mezera (fixed with)" is a weird neologism. It is something like "Horse (with stripes)" instead of "Zebra".

Pasteboard flashes in sync cursor with GPU performance enabled
In my experience, this is a new issue arising with InDesign 2023. Anytime the cursor is active in a text frame, the pasteboard flashes in sync with the cursor. If I click another application so the cursor stops flashing, the pasteboard also stops flashing. If I select the frame or something else in InDesign so the cursor disappears, it stops flashing. But anytime the cursor is active and flashing, the pasteboard also flashes. It's very annoying and distracting, and assuming it's a graphics issue, I deactivated GPU Performance. This fixed the issue. I'm on iOS 11.6.7 (with Apple M1 chip obviously). Video attached to demonstrate.

Incorrect cursor movement when selecting text
There is an annoying bug when selecting the text: extending the selection is working incorrectly.
To reproduce:
1. Select a word with the mouse. Make sure the word is in the middle of the text. Select the characters from left to right
2. Now Shift+Left Arrow modifies the BEGINNING of the text, instead of the END.
Why is this a bug?
Open any other text editing software and see the difference: when selecting text with the mouse, the cursor is placed where the mouse button is released. If selecting from left to right, then pressing Shift+Arrow keys, will shrink/grow the selection AT THE END. Indesign is not following this rule, Shift+Arrows grow/shrink the BEGINNING of the text, despite, the mouse button was released at the end.In indesign, selecting text often selects the whitespace after. Then the user tries to deselect the trailing whitespace by hitting Shift+Left arrow - bang, the leading white space is also selected!

InDesign 2023 crashes when opening older InDesign files
Can't open older version files in InDesign 2023. Using Microsoft Office 2016 64-Bit Edition (yes, I know we're really behind in our operating system). It looks like it's going to open the file, and then it crashes InDesign. Have tried restarting, re-installing InDesign and no go. Have even tried saving the old file as an IDML mark-up file and it still won't open.

When I scroll to the next page the display doesn't change, it stays as the page I was originally on. Sometimes I have to close the document and reopen to access the page I want.

UI Artifact on Apple M1 Max with ultrawide screen
Display Artifacts
- Macbook Pro (2021)
- Apple M1 Max
- macOS 12.6
- Display: C49RG9X @ 5120x1440 120Hz
- App: Adobe Indesign 2023 v18.0
Ever since switching from an Intel mac to M1 mac, indesign randomly display this artifact anywhere when I scroll thru my working document. Previous 2022 version also suffer this problem, it's totally random. Only way I can get rid of this is zoom in and out and the artifact will go away. (Screenshot blur out some element for privacy purpose).
Also maybe this is also related to sleep & wake up of the mac on ultrawide resolution, after waking up from sleep, all my adobe apps have all the tools bar are all over the place. Many of them stack on top of each other left and right edge of the screen. I must use reset workspace to restore the original locations.

Opening a menu item such as preferences sets of the "error" sound in windows until the item is closed
When I open a menu item such as Print or Preferences or Export, windows begins making the "error" sound as if you clicked in an inappropriate spot. The sound continues until I close whatever menu item I opened. This only started with the update to InDesign 2023.

InDesign 2023 crashing when using links panel
Though it rights itself occasionally, this happens only when I use the links panel. I am having to cmd-D to import, but that is adding lots of time I don't have.
Restarts of both InDesign and my latest model MacBook Pro are not fixing this.
What can I do?

Why does ID now need new filetype with every yearly release?
I don't remember ID needing a new filetype with every release in the past. A (perhaps cynical) part of me says new filetypes are designed to incentivize users to upgrade. This drive for new filetypes every year seems especially capricious when fundamental new ID features are few and far between over the past 5+ years. (Ex: one of the top billed features last year was renaming Master pages to Parent pages...)
New filetypes with every release is a source of friction to my team, especially when several users work on a project and one or more suddenly find they can no longer open the .indd project. I'm sure there are reasons for new filetypes every now and then, I just wonder if they're needed every year.

.idlk files not recognized/ignored when .indd files are in a Dropbox directory
InDesign 2023 v18.00
.idlk files are not recognized when working from a shared Dropbox folder. This issue appears to be very extensive and well documented. While I understand the many different use cases (synced/not synced, not connected to the internet, etc..) It would just make sense for InDesign to check for .idlk files within Dropbox directories and let Dropbox/Users figure out the potenetial for syncing errors and find a solution when those issues arise. This causes very frustrating issues for collaborative teams.

Page number truncated exporting to PDF (when using HarfBuzz and World-Ready Composer)
Summary: When using HarfBuzz and the World Ready Composer, automatic fields such as the current page number are truncated to their first character when exporting to PDF.
Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Enable HarfBuzz rendering mode. (Script: app.textPreferences.shapeIndicAndLatinWithHarbuzz = true;)
2. Create a new document.
3. Add a text frame.
4. In the text frame, insert a marker for the current page number. (Type > Insert Special character > Markers > Current page number.)
5. Set the paragraph justification to use Adobe World Ready Composer.
6. Change the page numbering in some way so that the page number will have more than one character. e.g. Layout > Numbering & Section Options > Start at page 8, using roman numerals.
7. Create a few additional pages, likewise each displaying the page number. (e.g. viii, ix, x, xi...)
8. Export to PDF.Desired behavior: Page numbers appear as in InDesign. e.g. vii, ix, x, xi.
Actual behavior: Only the first character of each page number appears. e.g. v, i, x, x
Versions of InDesign tested: This happens in 17.4. It does not happen in 16.4.3.
