Auto-Fit tick box does not work and has no effect when placing images into a Frame or Rectangle
I am using InDesign CC 2018 V13.1. In previous versions the Auto-Fit tick box worked just fine. With CC 2018 it does not. When placing an image into a Frame or Rectangle, ticking the Auto-Fit tick box has no effect. The image is placed into the box at full size. I then have to resize the image manually or using the Fit Content To frame button. I teach InDesign at Cambridge University and this missing feature is confusing for beginners. Please let me now how to rectify this issue.

Issue with images not showing when searching in InDesign
High Sierra InDesign 13.1 NAS File Server
When trying to search my artwork folder (called Color Art) for items containign the word "steak" on my NAS to place an image in InDesign it comes up as if it was empty. If I then leave InDesign and do a search the "steak" images appear. Not having this search function has been crippling to my dept. eating up all sorts of time.

hatched stroke styles
Hatched stroke styles aren't distributed evenly around ellipses and circles. The last segment appears twice. Works fine with dotted line, though.

Text in placed Illustrator object extends out of frame in PDF
I have a map done in Illustrator, saved as an .ai file. This has been placed into InDesign and slightly cropped so that one of the text labels is cut off. When I export this to PDF, the complete line of text shows on the page, extending out past the edge of the frame. The line and shape objects are cropped to the frame though.
The attached PDF shows screenshots illustrating this.
I have had the same thing happen in the same InDesign file (well, the same map template) with a placed InDesign document instead of a placed Illustrator file.

Cannot turn auto-fit to default
I am using Adobe InDesign CC 2018 13.0 for macOS (10.13.1). It seems that the auto-fit is default turned off right now. I changed the setting in Objet-Fitting-Framing Fitting Options and checked the box of Auto-fit with no documents open.
However, I am still unable to set auto fit into default.
Thank you.

Inconsistent metadata display for Photoshop EPS vs TIFF in Links panel
When placing raster images exported from Photoshop into InDesign, there is inconsistent metadata shown in the Links panel between TIFF and Photoshop EPS formats.
Using the same source image exported as both TIFF and EPS (CMYK), InDesign displays full image metadata for the TIFF (including Actual PPI, Effective PPI, dimensions, ICC profile, and transparency), while the EPS only shows basic file information and omits all image-specific data.
Since the EPS in this case is a raster image generated by Photoshop as supported natively by InDesign, it should be interpreted similarly to TIFF and expose the same metadata. I remember this…

grafik
Hi,

jpeg vs jpg
- InDesign (21.2) , Illustrator (30.2.1), Dropbox 243.4.6956, MacOS 15.7.4, M4 Macbook Pro Max
- Linked files with JPEG extensions within an Illustrator file (.ai), that are placed into an InDesign Document, initially show up, but then disappear if the Illustrator file is edited after being placed within an InDesign Document. 3/4. Linked JPEG files should appear in the InDesign file, but disappear.
- It appears as though saving the JPEG file as a JPG file solves the issue, but this has never been an issue in the past. It's a problem with 100's of legacy InDesign Documents if i need to go…

Content-Aware Fit produces poor crops / bad fit
In these “AI times,” how can “Content-Aware Fit” be so extremely bad at cropping images like these? It hasn’t improved between CC2019 and CC2026.
The feature could be very useful and does an okay job on many images, but when the results are this poor, it’s hard to use it at all in automated workflows.
I often get complaints that images that absolutely don’t need much cropping end up being cropped unnecessarily.
Is this something Adobe has in their backlog or roadmap to fix?

BUG: InDesign 2025–2026 forces pasted Illustrator vectors to embedded EPS
Description:

- Ungroup is unavailable
- Individual vector paths cannot be selected

- The object cannot be used as an image frameSteps to Reproduce:…

Can't Resize Vertical or Horizontal Line If Width Is Zero. Angled Lines with Zero Width Can Be Resized
This happens when I create a horizontal or vertical line using the "shift" key, then try to resize the line using the selection tool and mouse.
This issue is present on InDesign 21.1 x64. My operating system is Windows 11. I have no InDesign Plugins installed.
I have experienced this issue on two different computers. The problem is not present on older versions of InDesign.
PROBLEM: When resizing a horizontal or vertical line, such as is created when holding down the 'shift' key, and that line has zero width, the line visually appears to change, then snaps back to its…

error with image display
in a large brochure with a large number of images, some of them are not displayed in "Display Performsnce - Typical" mode - instead of the image, only a rectangle is visible. Moreover, in the "High quality display" mode, these images appear, and those that were displayed in the Typical mode, on the contrary, disappear. This all happens in the "normal" screen mode. In the preview screen mode, everything is displayed. (Display via the GPU is set)

placing illustrator images
One of my students was having an issue when placing a native AI file inside InDesign 21.0 that the graphics became distorted. His image was not very complex. He had a some columns and rows of circles that display and print in a totally different way then they are in the Illustrator file, and some white shapes he had on top of a solid color area disappeared. Everything is fine in Indesign when it is first placed, but if he goes back into Illustrator makes a change and then updates the modified link, that is when the change occurs. The…
