Major System Font Issue!
WHAT THE FONT!?!
Our publishing company recently ran the InDesign update (to 15.0.2) and have discovered some major font issues. I have narrowed it down to InDesign 15.0.2, macOS Catalina 10.15.3, and Suitcase Fusion 21.0.0. I actually don't think Suitcase has too much to do with this, because the problem occurred after the InDesign update, but it's our font management software so I'm including it. Basically it appears system fonts have become problematic with InDesign. Packaged files are suddenly showing up with lots of the dreaded pink. I have tested about everything I can. I even created some very simple type only files that are having system font issues as well. Sometimes the document will open ok and the fonts will appear fine. Then when I go to export, the system fonts turn pink. Sometimes the file can't open the fonts at all and they start out and remain highlighted pink. Other times it will open but them shut off a few seconds later. It's only happening with system fonts. I have included screen shots for reference. I hope this issue can be fixed asap because it's font chaos over here! Thank you.
The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – version 16.1
Please update to this version to get the fix.

We've been having issues with fonts in documents here too.
Reopening any documents - literally any documents - and the bulk of the fonts claim to be missing. I can go through the process of fixing the issue, InDesign doesn't have a star by any of these fonts so they're definitely accessible, but it won't change the fonts in the actual document. However, if I copy the entire document as is and paste it in to another one, the fonts are fixed. This issue is present whether I'm working off desktop, server or cloud. The fonts that we mostly use are the Helvetica Neue family. We're using Mac OS Catalina v 10.15.3, but only just updated after this issue started on Mojave.

Also having font issues after updating to vers 15.0.2. Can't adjust the size of the font boxes (by selecting font frame and dragging the edge / bottom nodes). Fix this quick please. Have a client putting pressure on us due to a print deadline!

InDesign says fonts are missing even in a file that was saved on this same computer and had no errors then.
It's not right for Adobe to charge a monthly fee for an app that does not work reliably or even consistently.

InDesign version 15.0.2 apparently have trouble recognizing Avenir Next (this is one of Apple's system fonts). Open up the document and it says family of Avenir Next fonts are missing and then I close up the document and re-open and than it recognizes the font. In order to resolved this problem, I reinstalled InDesign version 15.0.1 and problem solved. Apparently, version 15.0.2 of InDesign do not agree with Avenir Next fonts.

Hello,
We just ran the latest Creative Cloud update to InDesign on Tuesday, March 3. Since this update, we have had crazy issues with any files that use existing system fonts. These are packaged files, unpackaged files, saved to our desktop, saved to our server, you name it. Sometimes the fonts activate, other times they do not. Sometimes exporting a PDF will shut the fonts down. Sometimes saving the file will shut the fonts down. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to the madness. I have narrowed it down to system fonts available through macOS Catalina Version 10.15.3, InDesign 15.0.2, and Suitcase Fusion 21.0.0. I have even created very simple files in InDesign since this week's update, using a system font, and they have the same issues. I hope this is something that can be fixed asap because it's font chaos!

I'm getting this behavior as well on macOS 10.14.6, also with Avenir Condensed.
I thought it was FontExplorer acting up, so I'm glad I found this thread.

We've also made sure our systems are updated to latest version of OS Catalina, have cleared all font caches both through suitcase and manually clearing for system/fontbook.

Since latest update to Indesign 2020 our team is having issues with system fonts erratically not viewing properly and showing up as errors.
We have tried turning suitcase fusion on and off and the problem persists either way.
With suitcase fusion off and working from packaged files only, the font files are correctly packaged into the document fonts folder. However when you open the document:
1. The document opens and shows some variations of system ttc font families as "missing font" errors. The fonts don't display correctly and the error stays.
2. Usually if you close the document and open it is second time, the fonts all show properly and the font errors disappear. This may stay this way while working on the file, or it may turn into gibberish again when you either save the file or export a pdf. However, the file still shows "no errors". Strangely despite the garbled looking document, the exported pdf still is correct with no font issues.
3. On consecutive openings you may get either of these variations.
The font we're mainly experiencing the problem with is Avenir Next medium. Also a few others. We tried creating a new clean document, setting a page with Avenir Next medium selected from the font menu in indesign, then save and package. Even with this clean file, we experienced the font error issues.
Please help, we are creating large book projects and can't afford to have a font issue in a book we've spent weeks typesetting!
Thanks!

And when I do Find Font, the 'missing' fonts are sometimes shown as available, but if I do Change All, nothing happens; they still show as missing.

Keep getting error that fonts are missing even thought fonts are installed and available/activated. When i select the correct font and select change all, nothing seems to happen.
