Major System Font Issue!
WHAT THE FONT!?!
Our publishing company recently ran the InDesign update (to 15.0.2) and have discovered some major font issues. I have narrowed it down to InDesign 15.0.2, macOS Catalina 10.15.3, and Suitcase Fusion 21.0.0. I actually don't think Suitcase has too much to do with this, because the problem occurred after the InDesign update, but it's our font management software so I'm including it. Basically it appears system fonts have become problematic with InDesign. Packaged files are suddenly showing up with lots of the dreaded pink. I have tested about everything I can. I even created some very simple type only files that are having system font issues as well. Sometimes the document will open ok and the fonts will appear fine. Then when I go to export, the system fonts turn pink. Sometimes the file can't open the fonts at all and they start out and remain highlighted pink. Other times it will open but them shut off a few seconds later. It's only happening with system fonts. I have included screen shots for reference. I hope this issue can be fixed asap because it's font chaos over here! Thank you.
The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – version 16.1
Please update to this version to get the fix.

Can anyone confirm if this has been fixed in the upcoming 15.0.3 update?

Apparently the problem only occurs with the Helvetica Neue font since my other files using the Candara font open without difficulty.

Explanation of my problem:
I maintain the historical and photographic inventory of the fountains in my city and for this I use Adobe InDesign with Helvetica Neue fonts for writing. As new fountains are regularly installed, I have to update the initial document edited with version 15.0 then 15.0.1. So I start from an existing document.
After switching to version 15.0.2 and opening this document, the application informs me that it contains fonts currently unavailable on my computer and that it will replace them with the default font. This is a recurring problem with Adobe fonts enabled.
I went back to version 15.0.1 which does not pose any problem while waiting for the latest version 15.0.3 available this morning. I load this one and open my document (always the same one), bravo, everything seems correct… But after closing the document and quitting InDesign, the same error message appears when I open the recent composition again.
After deleting the InDesign preferences, the problem remains and I am singularly disappointed by the performance of this software in its latest updates…
I work on a Mac Pro 2013 with MacOS 10.14.6 and use Blurb to print my books, all edited under InDesign. -

Yep. Same Problem. At least it isn't just me, though that doesn't make it any less annoying.

Same problem here, although for me it seems to affect non-system fonts as well. Problem is random in both timing and which fonts it will affect.
Only had the issue hit me once while exporting a document. It mostly happens when opening a document. If I then close the doc and re-open it (once, twice, or sometimes a third time), the fonts will start working again. Another situation that will often trigger it is pasting a block of text from one document to another. After the paste, the original document will display properly, but the new document will suddenly be "missing" fonts.
No font management software installed.
Pretty sad that this has "under review" for over two months. It is a serious workflow problem.

I’ve used CC fonts for 1st time, but am unhappy it deactivates every few minutes. If I click Activate, spinners never stop. Have to keep webpage open & deactivate/reactivate there, then soon have to do it all over again. Whazzup?☹️

I am having a very similar issue with fonts after updating my system to Catalina.
I open a file and it tells me that fonts, that I know are installed, are missing. I thought it was potentially a font conflict, as the font used is part of system fonts. If I activate the font in Suitcase Fusion, it relinks the font, until I save out a PDF. The PDF has the correct font, but once it saves, Indesign tells me the fonts are missing.
So I go and deactivate the font in Suitcase, and the fonts properly link again, until I save out a PDF!
It's a never ending cycle of activating and deactivating the font in Suitcase.
the fonts I'm struggling most with are Helvetica and Avenir.

I'm having font issues with 2020 too. Fonts work fine in InDesign CC2019, but when you try to open them in CC2020 it says a lot of fonts are missing, but they are there, in the Fonts folder in the InDesign package.

Having the same issue with Avenir and Helvetica. I have the fonts but doesn't stop it from switching from NO ERRORS to suddenly 100+ font issues in a catalogue we are working on. Very inconvenient. I just updated InDesign last week and I did not have these issues before. Guess I will have to uninstall and install an older version till they figure it out. Gah!

I still have the same problem, when is the update coming?
There is no way you can use InDesign as a professionell User when you need to reopen youre programm 45 times a day.

I am having the same problem With Helvetica Italic and Helvetica Bold Italic...
I need to reboot everything (computer, font manager and ID) in order for it to show the fonts, but they go missing again very quickly. Driving me crazy, my client's font is Helvetica Neue, but even "old" Helvetica does the same trick. Please help... -

Please fix... since InDesign 15.0.2 was released it's been a struggle every day to use our corporate font, Avenir.
I've wasted countless hours as every project requires opening, closing and reopening to get the font to finally stick for editing.

I'm having the same problem, especially with avenir, avenir next, papyrus and stencil.

I was able to resolve the issue by breaking the link to the packaged fonts so that the document linked back to the Avenir system font.

I'm having the same problem with Avenir Next. I can't seem to do anything in Indesign right now. Why has there been no update from Indesign since March 6?
