Restore video from URL media option
For some unexplained reason the Video from URL option has been removed from InDesign 2020. This needs to be restored ASAP as there are people using this feature.
Moveover, it needs a minor improvement to allow HTTPS links (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/37474690-place-a-video-from-a-url-with-https).
It was a big mistake to not query the community before removing this and it should be a simple thing to restore.
“Place Video from URL” option has been restored in the latest InDesign update – version 15.1.
Please update InDesign to use the feature.

Please restore this feature. This has nothing to do with flash support. There are plenty of video URLs out there that do not use flash.

Please restore the video from URL option without flash support. In the very least YouTube URL video placement should be supported. Many of us use these in our interactive kiosk designs and web based publications.

Put this back now. It makes no sense to have removed it.

I can't see why stopping supporting Flash has anything to do with the removal of this feature. Why not allow Video from URL? Sites such as YouTube don't rely on Flash technology to deliver their videos. Am I missing something here?

I've used this feature a while ago, just to make sure that video was playing, and my video wouldn't be visible on vimeo or youtube. So it had a unique aspect to it. Like to see it back.

@Ravi Kiran: "video from URL" is not bonded to flash. it is used in a variatey of use cases (HTML, EPUB, …).

Why would you remove a critical feature for digital publications?

I need to be able to place links from YouTube into my InDesign documents. I have no earthly idea whether that requires Flash functionality or not--but I know that when I accessed a document with this link on my iPad it worked--which suggests that it didn't use Flash at all.
Please make sure that this features still works--I need it.
