After more than a month nothing happend, also i have had the problem a cupple of times. And for sur ei'm the only one who work with these files. Also i recognized, that after the update your are no longer able to change the filename in the finder, while you have the same file in Indesin open.
After you try, like you could do over years and years, Indesign crashes and you are not able to save the open file. Whatever Abode change in this directory, something goes complety wrong.
For me both problems are the result of the same problem.
If your are funny you could change a filename on the Server while someone you don't like works on it. And he will never get a chance to save his work. Even the autamatic save will not work in this case.
But don't be evil ;-) . And of course resorting files and renaming this is one thing we all do .. and it could happen that i this moment someone works on one of these files.
so its a bad thing and not a feature – just a bug.

You can use the file .idml instead of .indd.
I have the same problem.
I can't save in indd or open indd. -

InDesign Version: Adobe InDesign CC 13.0.1
Operating System: macOS High Sierra version 10.13.2
Computer: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)Steps to reproduce the issues:
1. Open InDesign and create a new document, do some work in it
2. Save the document
3. Leave the machine for a while so that it automatically goes to sleep (depending on the settings on your Mac), or close the lid for a while.
4. Try to save the document using Save or Save as, or try to open any InDesign file on your Mac.Expected result: The document should save as normal, or the InDesign file should open as normal.
Actual result: When trying to save any open document, I get the error shown in attachment opening_error (translated from Norwegian to English, so the wording might be a bit different): "Can't process the request due to a database error. The file {filename} is broken. (Error code: 0)"
When trying to open a new document, I get the error shown in attachment saving_error (aslo translated from Norwegian to English): "Can't open file {filename}. The file {filename} is broken (error code: 4)"Extra notes:
I'm able to export the document as an IDML, PDF etc. but not save as an Indd. I'm also able to work and import assets in the document etc.
This has happened several times with several different InDesign documents, and it always works to restart InDesign and open any of the documents InDesign claimed to be broken before the restart.
I am pretty sure that this error started to occur when I updated from InDesign CC (2017) to the newest version (13.X), but it could also be related to my update from macOS Sierra til macOS High Sierra. -

Me too and it bugs me! Restarting InDesign usually helps but is a pain in the ass.
Furthermore, InDesign has phases where it is terribly slow, since I updated to the latest Version.

Same problem here. When trying to save a random document, the error appears.
After that, I'm not able to open or save any other docs.
Restarting Indesign does the trick, but it is safe to say that this is not how it should work.
Is there a solution?Specs:

I am having this exact issue as well. Just updated to High Sierra (10.13.2) and suddenly the issue began.
I'm on a Mac Pro (late 2013). Opening files from a server, though haven't tested with local files yet.

From time to time Indesign says that a file is corrupted. After restart of InDesign the file can be openend again. This has happened to me with several files already.

I have this issue also, "The file is damaged and cannot be opened - Error code 4". Restarting InDesign helps, but it's so ANNOYING. Also scared the hell out of me the first time it happened.
My Specs:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
16GB Ram
Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.1
InDesign 13.0.1I have trashed preferences, before anyone asks...

I have the same problem. It's not any specific file and the files themselves are fine. I can quit InDesign and reopen the file with no errors or problems. Deleting Preferences doesn't work either.
My files do reside in a Dropbox environment.

This is the case for weeks now. I have the Problems since CC17 on High Sierra. Its like working on ice :/ It seems random. Had this five times yesterday. Restarting INDD solves it for me, and there ist no loss (damages files opens like it should). But very annoying, i guess it has something to do with the new apple file system.

Hi again,
I use a Macbook Pro (retina15' 2015) and MacOS High Sierra 10.13.1.
It happens to local documents saved on the desktop like other saved on the Network-Server.
Its not a problem, with some special documents. All are influenced. The problem often happens after the mac was in the sleepmode, but sometimes it also happens after the screensaver was working.
Maybe that's just coincidence. Mayby its a new old right-problem with temproary items, came up with the update of sierra. I don't know. I hope you could fix it.

I also get a "damaged file"-message. Both when in working progress and trying to save and when opening a new file. All files are stored in Creative Cloud Files. I had both error 0 and error 4...

The Error is still there after macOS and latest CC18 Update.
Files are safed in the user-folder on an APFS-SSD (MBP 2016, 1TB). Occurs maybe one or two times a day. InDesign is "up" almost all day, i realised, that there might be a connection to the time INDD is running. Closing/restarting solves the issue. While the issue is active, i cannot save or load any file – all seem broken.

I have also these kind of bugs (but I am using Sierra). I meet these problems since I upgraded under Indesign CC2018. Any solution ?

InDesign will not open documents created in the newest update, even files that were made in earlier versions. Keep getting error code 4 when trying to open files that I've previously worked on today. Have had to restart computer twice now to get latest update of InDesign to open and/or create any documents at work.

I also had one occurrence of a "damaged file" since upgrading to High Sierra. My files are stored in Google Drive. Luckily drive allowed me to revert to a previous save.
I hadn't experienced file corruption before.
